  • Documentary Filmmaking Film for BA Film Studies at University of Essex - Year 2
    Created by Charlie Vickers.
Ft. Charlie Vickers, Reece Watkins & Dellan Philpot.
    Version 1.
    Video best experienced with earphones/headphones.
Interview footage was filmed from February to April 2021 within the national government guidelines.
I do not own rights to any of the music in the video. Nor the image of Great Ormond Street Hospital or National Autistic Society logo. The original owners of these assets are accredited during the end credits. However, the rest of the footage is entirely produced by myself and the participants. I have also edited all of it together on Final Cut Pro.
A lot of the footage from the participants was cut due to exceeding the recommended duration of the film assignment. Also, more sensitive footage was cut as it would have distressed some viewers and exploit some vulnerabilities*, hence, what is shown has been authorised.
All participants provided their consent for this footage to be used for the purpose of the film.

*During the opening, where I am having tic attacks (uncontrollable tics), I decided not to include some of the more recent and severe examples due to the distressing imagery and the fact they are recent. Thus, what is shown is just an snippet of them, and these were filmed at calm points where intervening was not as required as much.
In the film, Reece and Dellan are age 20, and I am age 21.
The film was made for a second year module assignment. The brief suggested an 8-12 minute film on a relevant and contemporary subject: "Documentary is self-shot and self-edited. It should be an intelligent, thought provoking film that examines a subject of contemporary
relevance. It should include some interview, actuality (if possible) and
you can include up to 30% archive / found footage."
