- All summer construction…. like all of Toronto seems like the whole city is under construction ,
my street I believe will be done early next week. They’re pouring cement tomorrow so things are looking up on the water on the sewer in the whole Neighbourhood.
Big job I guess a big undertaking.

We’ve had a million bees this summer. They’ve been loving all the flowers. The set of blue and white dinnerware was beautiful. Weeding is hard work and never ending. My bleeding hearts always look dead this time of year but they always come back. 😊Brooke I always get so hungry when I see your food you prepare. Love and blessings ❤️❤️❤️

I grew up on a small farm and my Dad used to work bees. One day I was relaxing in the yard and saw a huge swarm overhead. It was quite a sight! They were relocating, not bothering anyone. I’ve never had a fear of bees because my Dad always told me if you’re not afraid of them they won’t sting you. I don’t know how cold it gets where you are, but what about cold-hardy plants and flowers on your balcony? I understand in Europe it’s common to see geraniums in window boxes even though there’s snow everywhere. Some types of Japanese boxwoods are very cold hardy. But maybe it’s not worth it to you if it’s too cold to sit out there. You need a portable fireplace and a cup of hot chocolate. String your balcony with twinkle lights and decorate your lounge chair with brightly colored wool throws. I’m just spitballing here. In Florida we all cheer when it gets cold because it’s super hot 7 to 8 months out of the year. When it gets cold, everybody wants to be outside. 🤪😂
Thanks sharing the story I love 🐝🐝🐝🐝 too. It does get really cold here in the winter sometimes like -15 could even be 20 for a day or two on a whole we around -5 at night so all the plants go dormant that are perennials, and the other ones you have to discard or bring in. 🍃🌸🐝
@@mamabrooke Oh, wow that’s REALLY cold! In South Florida it virtually never freezes. I’m in northern Central Florida; it can get down to 19-20 F which spells death for many tropical plants like hibiscus and ferns, so we have to cover everything, which is a pain. We are learning to plant more cold hardy plants. I can see why you give up sitting on your balcony in winter. Brrrr! 😂

I really liked the gold coloured deer head you saw at Value Village. Your roast chicken and Asian inspired salad looked so yummy! I love watching the bees in my garden too - they are hard workers for sure 😊
It’s your head was really cheap plastic though you can bend it with your fingers so I didn’t buy it and thank you. The chicken was good.🍃🦢
I love your garden. The bleeding heart dies back but it is sleeping until next spring. Here in the south it dies back before July 4.

Your side yard is lovely oh heck your terrace, front porch, and apartment is lovely and charming. You have a gift. AND you cook some really yummy things too. I'm glad you are going somewhere for the holidays. You seemed a wee bit sad last year. Its a bonus if you go to your daughters as the weather will be a lot warmer. I dislike winter also. Good morning everyone ! I have been cleaning my flower beds as it is cooler up here ! The leaves are changing color & getting into fall mode ! Bought mums yesterday & next week closing up camp ! Sad as summer went by so quickly!
Porch is getting cleaned off this week hundred percent sad to see it go but it is what it is. We’ve had a beautiful week of weather. I like for the dressing and the layering and I think it’s pretty. We have beautiful falls here in Ontario but I am not a winter girl at all. It makes me sad.🍃🩷

Did you see last week in Burlington with all those Bees and their hives that got spilled… out of the truck. It was turned out good because they got lots of beekeepers to come in and help from all over the area.

We rent here in Australia Brooke. I absolutely agree with you. We have made this house like our own home and the owner and agents are fine with it. We’re going to be painting the walls soon. My husband has built a huge shade roof for the back area so we can sit outside, made a gate and fence for the front. So much more. I can’t stand renting so our thinking is we will make it like it is ours. A lot of landlords don’t like holes in the walls, but ours don’t care. They’re just happy we are happy.
The garden looks so calm & quiet. I was on the Ruggable website and I saw a mat that reminded me of your decor. It’s from the Iris Apfel line called Splender in the Grass. It’s got that nice zebra print with little animals on it and color. I thought awe it would look so pretty on your patio off the pantry. 😊🦓 🐒❤️

I have a variety of bees buzzing around and I leave them alone or sometimes I see one or two trying not to drown in a dish of water, and I fish them out :) So far they have not stung me :) I love your bird's nest terrace and the flowers, what is not to love, right ? :) Maybe you can have a simple awning built over it, then you can extend its use time. I love sitting out when it is raining w a cup of something warm, and even when it is snowing... you can establish some foundation evergreens on your terrace then it will be lovely in winter too... I am thinking of projects for you :) :) I know you don't like winter.. I do like the 4 seasons and the changes they bring :) I like the salad you made, I think I will give it a try.
I love that you love the bees 🐝 it’s too much for me to carry the plants like evergreens and stuff up and down off my terrace I am closing the tree house as we speak . I’m in the middle of doing it right now but thank you so much for the suggestion. I don’t want an awning I actually like this sun and the flowers and it brings I have a shaded porch in the front. I do very little winter decor… some out front, I try not to spend a lot of time in Canada in the winter

Bees are fine. It's those yellow jackets and all black wasps that think they own your deck.....I was stung by a yellow jacket and reacted to it. Got hot and cold chills, felt light headed and found it hard to breathe (felt like someone was sitting on my chest). So now I run away from them, lol.

Your morning glories are DIVINE! When we lived in Vancouver bc, morning glories grew everywhere and everyone considered it a weed and we would rip it out! Now we live in the interior of bc and I get tiny little morning glory sprouting around the yard and yearning for it to explode and bloom……so funny how perspectives change.
Yeah, there’s two types of morning glories some are and they reseed them selfs and some don’t . I wish they did… I know I used to live in Vancouver that’s where I fall in love with therm .🍃🌼🍃🌸 have a wonderful day 🍃🦋🐝🦢

Everything still looks pretty nice, ya its cooler here too the passed 2 days. Well my diet is going well, I finally broke my plateau and I lost a total of 23 lbs, your salad looks wonderful but I could not have all the wonderful sauce and toppings you use, It would have to be plain. Chix sounds good though, I could crisp some of that up in the broiler on some salad, ,,, ya.❤

I’m glad because I have too many things to put away now, so I’m not buying any more ornaments. I’ve been just putting my bunnies in a box and OMG I’m not gravitating to anything that I’m not going to replace. That’s my new rule. Hi Miss Brooke... Can you please tell us what temp. it is where you are? But so we can understand, we use a different system. For example, 80 degrees is hot! I'm in Washington State. Thanks😅🎉❤
We use Celsius here in Canada.
I know Americans still on the old system with degrees, so 80° would be 26.66 Celsius , I learned degrees when I was a child too , then they switched when I was graduating high school around 1975 .I had to learn metric system also .
I know both very well. When I’m baking, I still say cups. 💖 lol Today, only three countries do not use the metric system: the United States, Liberia and Burma. So, freezing point - zero degrees Celsius - is 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and the boiling point at 100 degrees Celsius is 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
