Unpopular opinion, but I liked the way Tartarus was compared to dungeons in other Persona games. It might be less varied than dungeons from the other games, but I think the way each floor was randomly generated made it feel less human and less intentional, much like the Backrooms. It really gives it that eerie and somewhat liminal feel, especially with the black foggy sections that darkened the floor throughout.
Which is why P5 was 100% my favorite in this regard. They gave us handcrafted dungeons with gimmicks and all, while simultaneously giving us a new version of Tartarus.
@@neoshenlong yeah, that was much better than both. Though i still preferred Tartarus over Mementos on the original P5, that changed on the P5R since there you could just ran over shadows!

Hah, jokes on them P3 FES was my first Persona game back when I was in my high school/college years.
that is also my first persona game back at 2009 or around so or below it, now I'm 24
Same here!
P3P was my first play using PSP then i tried P3 FES using PPSSPP in my pc. That was new full experience for me lol, i really like P3 FES because they have all content routes
The scariest part is when the reaper spawn and you tried to escape by going to next floor but the reaper learned how to use the stairs
They have NO idea what nightmares awaits them. Good luck.
That’s me when Fuuka says the lights is out smh 🤦🏽♂️
This actually happened to me in Persona 5. One of the floors in mementos was dark and I got lost then the grim reaper showed up and was chasing me in the dark. I was so terrified of dying. 😂
To be fair, that happened only if you stay at a certain floor for an extended amount of time... an anti-grind measure. I loved playing on rainy days, btw, it amplifies the atmosphere in Tartarus 10x.
I wouldn't call it an anti-grid measure since you can always go back to grind after spending another day haha
its so true. i didn't realise the reaper timer still goes if your pause and once you resuue he can chase you
Me: But I paused, you can't just spawn after that?! 😠
The Reaper: Not my problem bro 🙃
wHAT oh hell no
Ain't no way it still goes on...I am not prepared...
@@Poko14 literally scary if you didnt know about this, something more important irl is going on and must be dealt with so you pause the game to deal with something and the moment you're done with the task, you come back and unpause the game only to see the grim reaper
As a persona 5 player who just finished persona 3 reload, im glad this has nnever happened to me
Not people in the comments actually trying to gatekeep and start beef with Persona 5 players....
its crazy how much dumb arguments the persona community have. all the games are peak
I mean persona 5 got a lot of gamers(like me) to check out the other games so I dont know what they’re smoking
Persona fans are so toxic the way they gatekeep and harp on others who enjoy the same games as they do from the same developer and franchise yet they were here first so they get to be a grade A bitch about everything
Nah gatekeeping is based. It filters out the weak
@@CBman11037 Somehow that's even cringier than just gatekeeping. And that's already super cringe.
"IS THAT THE GRIM REAPER?!?!?"
I finished P5R, played about ten hours P4G, and finished Persona 3 Fes.
I'm ready to listen to a new heart destroying remix of Living with Determination.
This comment is amazing
You got me angry. Finish P4G right NOW
Finish P4G rn 🤬
While you wait, you can check out Persona 1 and 2
You dare not finish P4G?!
And then you unlock the *Armaggedon* spell with Victory Cry and Spell Master and everything except Elizabeth becomes a joke.
Thanks for bringing me back my hours of Tartarus PTSD from my PSP days
"No myraid truths can save you now"
*laughs in sinful shell*
I've already played P3 I just hope that Tartarus has more stuff going for it in Reload. EDIT: Wow I didn't expect this comment to blow up the way it did but at the end of the day we all want the same thing and that's for P3R to be a good game/remake with good quality of life changes.
me too. i hope they design at least half of the floors if they cant do all of them i understand making 264 floors have design to them is hard but they could easily do more than half, add will seeds, puzzles and other great things that made p5 palaces great
@@DepressedLuffy I agree 100% with you but hardcore P3 fans get mad when P5 gets brought into the conversation for some reason lol because like it or not P5 has kind of become the gold standard.
@@jokerfanboy9882 P3 fanboys are a bunch of edgelords that think P5 is bad because it's too mainstream, too easy to beat and doesn't have enough burnt bread.
@@aaronbryan5095Not enough "Burnt Bread" lol I'm dead.
@@aaronbryan5095 no we just don’t want p3r to be just like p5 💀
p3 was my first and favorite Persona game. CANT WAIT
Cultured! as well as having that master xehanort pfp!
'Lookin scared, Joker'
First time I ran into him, he followed me up to the next 4 floors. Left people behind and everything 😂. Found a teleporter and dipped, then just went back to get those floors later
Jumped so hard that he went back 18 years😂
Nothing scares me more then when I’m wandering a floor and I hear chain rattles - I instantly get cold and start to feel uneasy
I liked how fast it was to travel it! Persona 4 has such slow dungeons...
@@DragonMrDarkness Yes with that cute Morgana car LOL
"lmao i already beat reaper in p5 he doesnt scare me"
> Gets beat to death by _that_ table on Tziah Block
I cant wait for the uninitiated to get their teeth kicked in by the world's fastest and most evasive table.
I played p3fes for the first time about 14 years back, and was able to introduce my friends to it and the subsequent p4. It's been cool to see how much the series' fanbase has grown since then, but also I can wait to see these p5 kiddos tackle the game (albiet a remake) that began to take the west by storm.
I'm just glad that we're able to choose what skills our personas learn these days... All the RNG in og p3 and p4... All those hours in the Velvet Room... That was the real difficulty.
Why is this so true I've been trying to hide behind walls, there's no pillars for stealth 😭 i can't show them their true forms
I still remember when I finished battling a shadow and the reaper spawned in from of me and I ran away while it killed Junpei, good times 🥲
Poor Junpei
So i had to stay afk 5 min but u find him like that 😭
Something about that gunshot in the air at the end had me crying laughing. 😂
Get ready for death is what that gunshot means lol
And then the game came out and it was so easy that you never felt fear.
IS THAT THE GRIM REAPERRRRRRRRRRRRR
I hope I’m not the only one that actually liked Tartarus 😂
I liked it a lot too. It was kinda calming with the music and general vibe, you could kinda just lose yourself in the maze. It was also really cool how the music changes as you progress since it feels like you're making progress. I get peoples' issues with it but I really am nervous about how they are gonna change it since it's going to lose something I really liked about the original.
@@yoso378 Yeah it was really calming and somehow still fun. It makes sense from a story standpoint too with the characters continuing to make progress with themselves. The music was a nice touch too. I honestly didn’t mind the AI controlled party members too, but I know a lot of people didn’t like that. It gave the feeling that each party member was their own individual person. And I think there’s an interview where the director purposely made it AI for that reason. I just hope Reload keeps everything close to the same, especially the vibes the game just gives off
I love the neon rooms the most
Me and my team after a hard battle and ascend to new floor with very low hp, sp: panik
Fuuka: there's no shadow on this floor
Me: kalm
Also me some secs later: extremely panik
they aren't ready for the arqa shadows that cast mudo and somehow land it every time
Imagine ascend to new floor and fuuka tells you all the shadows on this floor are the red ones
Fuuka when she tells me the light are all out and I have to save somebody in Tartarus.
@@DepressedLuffy fuuka when she tells me her oracle just knocks my whole team up and now we're screwed lol
I'm hoping we get those special fights like we got in P5R. Imagine fighting Joker as P3MC or FemC
Same as well as getting a fight with fem mc cause that would for such scratch a lot of peoples interest for fem mc being in p3 reload
This could never work unfortunately. I wholeheartedly welcome the idea though.
@@Psycho_Psy How could it not work? Im so confused how this couldn’t work ?
@@DepressedLuffy Because the whole concept of those battles is that you're fighting "echoes of previous guests", P3 takes place before 4 and 5 so Joker and the P4 protag haven't been there yet, thus no "echoes"
Meeeh, they could easily justify it. "A shadow of something that seems to belong here, but has never been here before. Could it be that it is not yet their time? And yet... why are they here?" or some bs@@stevenhiggins3055
As someone playing through P3P right now, this is so accurate 😂
Based!
As someone who just finished P5R and started P3P two weeks ago, I second this 😂
@@kouranlik I just want to recommend you to play P3 FES instead for better experience and full content, but since P3R just came out, you can play that instead
im jealous you guys have been living with this banger while i just discovered it today 😢
No one who played P5R and fell in love with the franchise would actually react this way. Cause by the time this remake came out we already played all other atlus games some of us even got into shin megami tensei by this point, now me I’m still thinking about it.
P3 is just so much more raw. Everything just hits different. In P5, there's a sense of fun and adventure even when they're dealing with major problems. But in P3, there's always this sense of impending doom lingering in the air.
Proud to say persona 3 introduced me to the persona series 😌
W!
Chad
“Wait, it’s all Mementos?”
“Always has been.”
I played through persona 5, persona 5 strikers, persona 5 royal, and persona 4 golden all back to back. I WAS NOT PREPARED. for Persona 3 though holy I got destroyed so bad lol
the game is not even that hard lol, dk why ppl keep saying its hard. feel like they just exaggerating it, i played on hard difficulty and so far the "hard" part about it is just tedious grind cause it cost a lot to summon persona and maybe less exp? dk didnt play the other difficulty to check it out, and RNG. i love how ppl think RNG equal hard, its baffling. the RNG part about it is the boss itself, everytime i fail to beat the floor bosses the results is just very different from losing totally to surviving it entirely with my whole team alive only because they targeted the one who is strong to their attack element. granted im not so far into the game yet but even so p5r first two boss on hard mode definitely harder
oh and i didnt have any sp problem at all earlier in the game, even in p5r you have to manage your sp carefully early on 💀
I remember accidentally leaving my game for too long to wait the reaper to spawn. When I came back Junpei was soloing him and Yukari was just reviving him over and over
Currently playing through reload first time. It’s not that bad but doing 30 floors in one night is difficult
Tartarus makes Mementos look like Destinyland
You forgot to add the part where it insta-kills you and you lose 2 hours of progress
I remember climbing like 50 floors without saving and my power got went out i was so sad 😢
The first time I fought the Reaper, It did an asspull move by casting Mamudoon in the get go and wyped my team out except Junpei coz he was equipped with an accessory that prevents from dying once then the Reaper casted Megidoloan lmao.. wiping out my entire team.. Worst Part is, I forgot save the game before entering Tartarsauce
Those non saves before death is always the most tragic part of it all
I cant hide 😭😭
I'm scared at how accurate this is- (the old games gave NO mercy)
“It’s death, get out of there!”
"wdym a lvl1 enemy can one shot me at lvl99?? What do you mean i have to actually create tactics and plan my moves carefully or else i will lose 75 hours worth of progress???? WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO ACTUALLY MANAGE MY LIFE AND SOCIAL LINKS AND CAN'T JUST IGNORE ALL OF THEM UNLESS I WANT TO?????"
A big mementos with the reaper
This oddly fits perfectly lmao
Persona 5 was my first game so you can imagine the reaction to the past dungeons
"Ah, la muerte 😱"
_rangu
The line "wheres the time machine?" means a lot more when comparing P3FES and P5R
ngl bro when i faced the reaper for the first time in rises dungeon i almost passed out from fear bro cause i had grinded on that floor for a minute
That’s always the worse when you encounter the reaper after a big grind session
This video is the ending cutscene of The Answer
Its like mementos but up
Me a Persona 3 veteran: oooh this is only the first floor
Sad part is Tartarus is super bright in Reload and not atmospheric.
I steel remember the feeling of playing all day, and then an enemy with an instant death magic kills me, and all my progress is lost cause I forgot to save...
The good old times xd
IS THAT THE GRIM REAPER?!?!?!?!?
Hello from the future. As a Persona 5 Royal player, on the hardest difficulty I am one shotting Tartarus each night and currently at floor 60 and only died once. Rn doesnt seem hard but things my change
I felt this after I beat one of the mini bosses and decided to continue when it was time to come back I couldnt find the portal and those shadows are fast majority of the encounters I get is enemy ambush lmao so I had to redo the boss
“Erm… where’s the puzzles”
So true that would definitely be people coming in to the series via 5 Royal to P4 then to three but since Reload is coming out we will see how that goes 😅
Future Trunks when he gets into the hyperbolic time chamber with Vegeta during the Cell saga be like:
