20:03 not only does beethoven echo the melody of a funeral march, it is 13 years later after beethoven finishes composing this symphony that chopin's own funeral march kinda sounds just like the one in this symphony
At 2:00 you refer to Beethoven's sketch to do an instrumental finale - I also studied these fascinating sketches and worked them out to this movement which may be interesting to you: ruclips.net/video/CCiRkgZFVaI/видео.htmlsi=O4HUZVJ6KBsADdsL See further explanations there ... :-)
I just discovered this video because it was on my recommendations. I sub because I saw your channel has a lot of videos about the Beethoven's symphonies. If you can read this comment, please continue with this kinda stuff. You will be great if you continue doin' this videos. Thankss!!!
It is hard to find good classical music analysis with technical depth. This is the kind of lecture I had in college. We had to do Schenker analysis as well.
I really enjoy this essay, even if you must use the Furtwangler 1942 recording, which should be buried forever on moral grounds! To be fair, these clips may come from the other recordings, which are fine. But, I personally still baulk at sharing a listening experience with a bunch of Nazi officials. I don't blame Furtwangler or the musicians necessarily, but I look at it as an illegal triple jump - nice, but, sadly must be discarded.
This is excellent! One of the better analysis I've come across for this symphony, thank you.

The best analysis of Beethoven's 9th Symphony I have ever seen. Thank you, Chairat Chongvattanakij.

23:10 I see that c major theme as foreshadowing the trio and ode to joy.
I notice 4 main key areas in the ninth symphony, those being D minor, Bb major, C minor, and D major.
c major?
@@natcharmusic I don't really hear C major that much in Beethoven's 9th. When I hear C as a tonic there, it's more often than not C minor.
@@caterscarrots3407 honestly the key c isnt used as much in there even c minor
