You play that very well. I love mahogany instruments. The sound just gets better and better. 7 strings is rather limiting though. I'm looking at the C octave Donner. thanks for the review. You never know what it sounds like until you hear it.
thanks so much and that is so true about hearing it. AND remember wood is so different that it seems no to look or sound exactly the same. I have done a couple of other videos with 10 and 15 string lyres if you want to check them out~ ruclips.net/video/Yw60B8otLLc/видео.html
It reminds me of a gourdilin I had. Is it a 10 string? Its really nice. I was going to get a 10 string next but the 7 string is very relaxing. You sound wonderful playing it!
What a cool instrument! Has sort of a Chinese music sound to it. Since there are no frets, am I correct in assuming you are muting strings when you press on them? Also, could you tune it however you want? Say like a D major scale DEF#GABC#. Thanks for posting!
Oh yes you are exactly correct. I got the idea from the Kantele videos I have watched and figured it would apply here as well and it does. And yes you can tune to a d major scale. Or any scale I suppose within reason of how much you can stretch or lower the strings ! Thanks for watching !
I have the exact same lyre harp. It was a gift and I know absolutely nothing about tuning a stringed instrument. Can you use a guitar tuner? Which one were you using? I couldn't see the brand or anything.
Yes you can use a guitar tuner or one on the phone. I have different ones but now a days they are all pretty good. I have a snark maybe it was that one. They are very good. Enjoy your gift !!
Do you recommend this as a first lyre? Most videos I see the high-low strings are strung the opposite. Can it be tuned for more traditional tunings with the stock stings or will they snap or be too loose? Or would you recommend the AKLOT 16 string? I do have some musical knowledge/skill and I like that it comes with a pickup so I could throw it through my amp and maybe some effects like a whammy pedal or something.
I like the 15 or 16 strings lyre harps for their wider range of notes. But the smaller ones are really portable but limiting in what you can play. If you want to improvise than either one works but for plucking out whole tunes you might want something with more strings. Hope that helps. They are all great for beginners because they sound so sweet and they are great for relaxing.
I think either would be fine. The 7 can be limiting and hard to pick out songs since there aren’t as many notes. But then again if it’s for improv then it may be just enough.
You are lovely. Great video: you were rocking that thing right out of the box!
Awe thanks so much. That is so nice of you to say! :)

Maria do you know of a stringed instrument like a lyre or small harp that can be tuned to church modes for playing Gregorian chant?
Hmmmm honestly I have no clue . Good luck though
@@MariaCalfaDePaul concert ukulele with low G works for baroque. Love my lyre though too. Your videos are very inspiring! Thank you so much!

@@MariaCalfaDePaul Very helpful, thank you! I've decided to go with a 16 string and can't wait for it to show up!
HaffTonne great to hear that i could help. Much happiness with your lyre.
Do you recommend a 7 or 16 string for a begginger
