How I Repurposed an Old Piano

- Old, worn pianos are free to get. That made me wonder what I would do with an antique upright piano. I thought about it, made a plan, got me one, worked on it for five months and essentially repurposed the piano. In this video you can see what came out. The piano contains eight electronic devices. The video invites you to count with us.
Special thanks to Joffry Arthur (pianist / composer - details below) and Ed Wens (camera).

WOW !....If you were ask me that starting question, i would have answered keep a piano as a piano...because i love music, play music and appreciate their beauty. In the real world, no one wants them. Some turn them into bars n stuff..but you my friend have kept it as a piano, but made it something that the modern world might want...absolute Respect and peace to you.
What an original way to use our desk frame and what a fantastic result! Thanks for sharing this, looking forward to the making of!
I'm just looking around at videos on how to restore my old piano, and found this one. You did a great job on it!
Just realized that this was recorded on my birthday, what a great present!
You Crazy genius. Fantastic. Amazing work.
Best reuse I've seen! I was about to throw one out - not now!!!
Wow! Speechless :) You are amazing.

Great work! Thanks! The translation already done) thanks god, that it doesn't a 15-20 minutes video😂😂 It's just a humor, you know.. I am waiting for your next video, and I'm preparering since now to translate that video about 2 days before it will "drop" 😂
You already did? I'm going to take a look at it now! Thank you! (-Just a moment..)
Умное? Not more like цифровое пианино...? Thank you, well done. I approved it.
Thank you! It's truely SMART piano,I think. It contains so many different things.. Many pianists since now want to get another one,I think. Greatwork,I can't even think about computer in piano...
I have an old piano and was looking to repurpose it. Got a lot of ideas online but eventually came up with my own idea but couldn't find anyone who had done it. This is it. Install a digital piano, computer and speakers just like you have done. This is so awesome. Probably Won't do the lift part even though I like that. Looking at using a Yamaha P125 under the original keyboard cover and use their 3 pedal kit Yamaha LP1B 3-Pedal unit to replace the original pedals. Speakers, Computer and lights are expected to be a part of the repurpose also. I am planning to leave some of the metal parts behind the monitor and high light them with the LED lights. That stuff is really amazing. Hopefully it will turn out nearly as well as yours. thanks for the inspiration.
Glad to be of any help. 😊 I wish you lots of success with your piano! 'Some of the metal parts' makes me wonder.. The iron frame of an upright is VERY big and heavy. My guess is: it is in or it is out. I would (as I have) take it out. It makes the thing unnecessary heavy.
@@Onrust1 I agree about the weight. If I could add a photo I would. The piano was originally built in a small Wisconsin town where I was born and the metal includes the city and name of the manufacturer that was only in business for about 10 years in the early 1900s. If I can, I want to highlight that part. I don't know how it will eventually be used but it is the challenge of the build and displaying a bit of history if I can. I am also marveling at the precision in the construction as I carefully take it apart.
@@Lotchik_Fishing Oh that's nice. Yes, nice to be able to show some of the history details of it. I was a bit disappointed that the inside of my piano revealed nothing about its manufacturer - nor the outside. The metal you are referring to will be cast iron I presume... yes a name in that is awesome. You might consider to cut it out from the frame. Should not be that hard with a angle grinder.. (I'm guessing you will have to take out most of the iron frame, because otherwise there will be no room left for anything else..)
I wish you the best with taking apart. You might want to check out my 'The making of' video of this piano, where you can see how I did it. Especially the taking apart was a puzzle, because some parts were glued, where you couldn't quite well see where exactly. Good luck, regards from the Netherlands!
Great!! Want to know the speakers brand.
Thanks. Logitech, link in description.
A transformer-piano, nice.
vet!!!
Fantastic! OH RUST!
Dat is gewoon briljant.
Dankjewel.
"$2000 for this chunk of ? C'mon, Ray!"
"I mean really, Ray, it's used! There's no action left in this keyboard!"
"Excuse me... I don't think there's anything wrong with the action on this piano."
Prachtig! Je overtreft jezelf elke keer weer, ook deze is niet te koop zeker? :-D
Wim
Dank je. Nee, voorlopig niet.. 😊

You mean value? What it cost me? I can do that... Is it what you mean?
I put the costs in the description of the video.
Why is Matt Berry playing a piano at a school cafeteria?
Sad old piano that have his all guts changed.. Is it a same piano...
Brilliant!
