Hi that's really cool. I recently made a short scale LP junior and Tele for my son and daughter. For the scale length and fret spacing I copied a short scale yamaha acoustic for a scale length of 22 3/4". My 8 year old plays it fine. I also modified the bridges on both so I could make the fretboard taper a 1/4" narrower at the body. They intonate well and hold tune. Cool to see somebody else making kids guitars that aren't crap.
Nice! Yeah I looked at options for buying a kids guitar but they all seemed low quality, so I decided to build one for my nephew. He’s only going to be 5 yo at Christmas but hopefully he’ll be able to start playing a little bit. Good to know a 22 3/4” scale length worked well for a 8yo, I’m hoping 18 3/4” will be ok for a 5yo. I should try this.. what’s the scale length?
Scale length is 18 3/4”. I took a 25” scale length fretboard and cut it at the 6th fret
