From "Holiday" in 1983 to this song in 2000, and beyond, she has an amazing record of hits that were more than hits. Also, beautiful ballads are "Live to Tell" and "This Used to Be My Playground", featured in the film, "A League of Their Own" (when TV stations don't cut the ending). She courted controversy, was a style setter, and a headline-grabber for many years.
One of her best singles for sure, but there are still PLENTY of dance bangers from her 80s and 90s discography you haven't gotten to: Everybody (her first single), Burning Up, Like a Virgin (her signature song), Dress You Up, Open Your Heart, Causing a Commotion, Express Yourself (which has what might be her best video ever), Deeper and Deeper, Secret. This was Madonna's big COMEBACK hit in 2000. The stuff she did in the late nineties was okay but not like this! Like Prince, Madonna has already been good at reinventing herself which is probably why her career has lasted 40 years! My favorite era of Madonna was the eighties but she is undeniably a legend in the business! Please do not say “oh, but there was Ray of Light” because I don’t count that because it did not meet my standards for Madonna! 😂 This is my POV and I will report any harassment! ✌🏿
Most impressive thing about Madonna is the VARIETY of types of songs in DIFFERENT ERAS that have all been hits. She's reimagined herself so many different times and managed to stay a relevant force. Mad respect.
Her last no.1 hit on the billboard charts in August 2000! Another 2000’s song you must listen too hung up which is her highest selling single of hey career selling 9 million copies and reaching No.1 in 41 countries in 2005! Peaked at No.7 in the states as radio refused to play her as they thought she was too old (she was 47 at the time)

You mention that music videos have become a lot more open and out there since the 80s. That's 100% because of Madonna. Check out her first video to get banned by MTV, Justify my Love. She sold it as a VHS single instead and made a fortune. And that wasn't the last time. 😂
This song sounds amazing with the car stereo. I bumped this song hard, back in the day. This is was one of Madonna's funkiest songs. Definitely an a**dropping hit.
You guys need to hit up Madonna's first album in the 80;s with "Burnin Up", "Physicl Attraction", "Everybody" and more! That album has a Funk Dance flavor that Jay would really enjoy!
I think its important to listen to Madonna and put into context her impact at the time because there just wasn't anyone out there that looked like her or dressed like her. Her genius at re-eventing her look, her music and being controversial by embracing her sex appeal when it was still taboo, helped her become cemented in history. It just puts her in a different stratosphere.
I ran into this reaction at breakneck speed. So glad you’re getting Jay to give Madonna another look. The 00’s were a spotty decade for her but he definitely should be introduced to “4 Minutes,” “Don’t Tell Me,” and “Hung Up” if he needs any more convincing!
Great reaction! I knew Jay would like that one, but there are so many more. Madonna holds the records of Biggest selling female artist of all time, most #1s on a single billboards chart with 50, first female to top the charts in 5 different decades. She is currently on her Celebrations World Tour and is smashing it! You ahould check out Girl Gone Wild and Music Inferno tour video.
Billboard is one of the more OVERRATED stuff of USA 😖🤦🏻♂️ Many crap were #1 in that ranking, only succesed in USA and no other country. But classics of history we're #5, #10 and even lower. Examples: "Piano Man" of Billy Joel, "Jeremy" of Peral Jam, "Say a Little Prayer" of Aretha Franklin and many others 😖🤦🏻♂️
Fun fact. She's the only artist to record a song for a james bond film and a james bond film parody, namely beautiful stranger for the 2nd austin powers film, which is a great song as well.
Madonna's first song was Lucky Star in 1983, and she's still going strong. Glad Jay finally found a Madonna song he loves! :D She started getting racy with her videos in the 90's, so goodness only knows where she goes in her 2000's videos (I've only seen a few of them). I'm not as familiar with her music from the 2000's because I didn't turn on the radio much that decade, mostly listened to CDs of songs I already loved during those years. I know she put out a ton of songs during that time, though, so I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions from others. :)
Madonna's a pop chameleon for sure. If you like the more upbeat then another vote for Ray of Light, but also Hung Up for a cool blend of Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme with Madonna's own take on it. Still plenty to go 😁👍
💃🏼HUNG UP next please! Samples a ABBA song that you'll love! Also, please get back to some MISS JACKSON!! Her 90s hit Got Til It's Gone with Joni Mitchell. Janet's "Alright" video is iconic. Also, Paula Abdul's funky 90s banger "Vibeology" has all the horns for Amber!! Love y'all and Happy Holidays! ✨🎄✨
Another good upbeat songs try one called Hung up, Get Together, I think Jay will like these too & you too Amber. Ah btw Madonna started singing career in the 80s, 1982 to be precise, realeased her first album in 1983, before her singing career took off she was a dancer. 😎👌
Hooray! J digs a Madonna song! She's currently in a world tour right now. If you get the opportunity to go, you definitely should! So if you want more fast paced dance Madonna songs, check these out: - Ray of Light - Beautiful Stranger (with Austin Powers - I know y'all saw his movies) - Hung Up - Sorry - Tell Me - 4 Minutes (with Justin Timberlake and Timberland) - Me Against The Music (with Britney Spears) - Celebration - Give It 2 Me (with Pharrell Williams)
I think that was the first single she recorded after hoping to play Evita and having singing lessons for the first time. It’s one of my favourite songs of hers.
Madonna was four months pregnant with her son in this video. Why does Rob think Madonna hasn't been making music for four decades lol. One of her best eras is Confessions era 2005-2006. She's is currently on an 80 date world tour right now.
Love this video! Because it showcases Sacha Baron Cohen ( Borat, Brüno) playing his Ali G. character. Also, I really dig the 2000's Madonna. Thanks for playing that video 👍
Ray of Light Don’t Tell Me Beautiful Stranger What it Feels Like For a Girl Hung Up Get Together There’s still so many amazing songs of hers to be heard. Late 90s and 2000s Madonna’s vocals were also her best! So rich and smooth.
Since Jay is a hip hop fan, Tupac did a collabo with Madonna called "I'd Rather Be Your Lover". This version was never officially released, but the song without Tupac is on Madonna's 1994 album "Bedtime Stories". The Tupac version is on RUclips though, it probably came from a bootleg. Also check out "Like A Surgeon" by Weird Al.
Her Duet with Britney.... 4 minutes with Justin Timberlake, the incredible video of what it feels like for a girl techno groove directed by her then husband guy ritchie, awesome violent video..., Die Another Day from James Bond, RAIN. Beautiful vocals and instruments
Madonna is the queen of reinvention. She has such a wide variety of songs that span across the decades, it would be impossible to not find at least one song of hers that you like. But that's also why she's enjoyed a career spanning more than 40 years. Still today, she sells out concerts when she tours. There's a reason for that - she's a true entertainer.
definitely one of my faves up there with Express Yourself... one tune for a female friday vibe isnt a Madonna tune but Little Bird by Annie Lennox... kind of like Music with Madonna a later tune that is one of her best
So I think I can pin point Jays taste in music and I knew he would rock to this one! Follow up with “Hung Up”, then “4 Minutes”, then “Secret”, then her cover of Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You”.

After Madonna, how about 'Lady Madonna' by the Beatles. You guys will love this song, big Beatles fans as you both are...
"HUNG UP" is a guaranteed banger!! 🔥
One of my ALL TIME FAVES of Madge is ... Don't Tell Me!!! 🤩 Now it's not super fast.. but it has one sexy beat.. and Madonna looks soooooo good in this one.. and this song is just everything!!!!! I think Jay will LOVE it as well!!!! 🥰
Have y’all done “Hung up” yet? If he loved this and the 2000s music, he’s bound to love that! It is such a great song and video
She had hits in 98 and 99 so not quite a comeback
She did have Ray of Light in 1998 but I still consider this a comeback hit! My POV! Thanks though!
@@GinaGeeILuvu Yeah I know what you mean it was a new album and a different sound from Ray of Light!
Not even a comeback at all
Wasn’t a comeback hit at all! Madonna was rocking out hits right after Evita.. 97-99-2000+
Peaked at No.7 in the states as radio refused to play her as they thought she was too old (she was 47 at the time)
In the UK we had Madonna number 1s hung up and sorry 2005 and 4 minutes in 2008.
@@jonclingan193In Australia Madonna had 5 no.1 hits In the 00’s
American Life
Music
Me against the music
Hung Up
4 minutes
@@gopies1456
Music was also a UK number 1, me against the music was a number 2, I think American life only got to number 3.
@@jonclingan193 In Australia Madonna had 10 top 10 hits in the 2000’s 5 of which were no.1 hits.

Die another day no.5

4 minutes no.1
i was in 7th grade when this came out and remember TRL had a countdown for premiering it. they finally premiered it and my dad pulled me away from the tv and said "that's not important!" lol.
I’m a huge Madonna fan, and this is also my favourite track of hers. Flawless pop music
You mention that music videos have become a lot more open and out there since the 80s. That's 100% because of Madonna. Check out her first video to get banned by MTV, Justify my Love. She sold it as a VHS single instead and made a fortune. And that wasn't the last time. 😂
Rob’s next Madonna reaction has to be HUNG UP from 2005!!! 📞
This song sounds amazing with the car stereo. I bumped this song hard, back in the day.
This is was one of Madonna's funkiest songs. Definitely an a**dropping hit.
The live version of this from Argentina is mind blowing! You’ll look at that and wonder how the heck it’s possible from a 50+ year old.
The Madonna Song that will be your fave is “Hung Up” simply because of the song it samples. I won’t give it away but it’s a banger. 😬
You guys need to hit up Madonna's first album in the 80;s with "Burnin Up", "Physicl Attraction", "Everybody" and more! That album has a Funk Dance flavor that Jay would really enjoy!
Open Your Heart...totally upbeat....complete banger!
Justify My Love is a good 1 by Madonna
I think its important to listen to Madonna and put into context her impact at the time because there just wasn't anyone out there that looked like her or dressed like her. Her genius at re-eventing her look, her music and being controversial by embracing her sex appeal when it was still taboo, helped her become cemented in history. It just puts her in a different stratosphere.
You should listen to Open Your Heart, Express Yourself and Don’t Stop.
Used to Be My Playground, Rain, & Live to Tell are great slow songs by her.
I agree. Great suggestions 😃
This is my favorite Madonna album, and I’m old enough to remember her first video on MTV
Hi Jay! If you want more of this kind of Madonna, then check out these songs: "Push", and "Candy Shop".
Madonna has 12 number 1's on Billboard Hot 100 charts in the U.S.
Got my tix for her Brooklyn show next month (not cheap but hey, it's Madonna)
You would love Hung Up and 4 minutes. They are both 2000s songs. Older dance stuff - Causing a Commotion and Burning Up. Definity Burning Up
Madonna's a pop chameleon for sure. If you like the more upbeat then another vote for Ray of Light, but also Hung Up for a cool blend of Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme with Madonna's own take on it. Still plenty to go 😁👍
Definitely Hung Up. Will blow their minds.
I like Madonna's "Frozen", the music and video was enchanting.
Hung Up next
💃🏼HUNG UP next please! Samples a ABBA song that you'll love! Also, please get back to some MISS JACKSON!! Her 90s hit Got Til It's Gone with Joni Mitchell. Janet's "Alright" video is iconic. Also, Paula Abdul's funky 90s banger "Vibeology" has all the horns for Amber!! Love y'all and Happy Holidays! ✨🎄✨
Madonna - Frozen
Another good upbeat songs try one called
Hung up,
Get Together,
I think Jay will like these too & you too Amber.
So if you want more fast paced dance Madonna songs, check these out:
- Ray of Light
- Beautiful Stranger (with Austin Powers - I know y'all saw his movies)
- Hung Up
- Sorry
- Tell Me
- 4 Minutes (with Justin Timberlake and Timberland)
- Me Against The Music (with Britney Spears)
- Celebration
- Give It 2 Me (with Pharrell Williams)
Check out Madonna's "Take A Bow". IMO, a video that shows off Madonna's vocal chops . Thanks again Rob Squad
I think that was the first single she recorded after hoping to play Evita and having singing lessons for the first time. It’s one of my favourite songs of hers.
Thank you for finally reacting to Music.
Now check out Express Yourself, Ray of Light, and one of her most underrated songs FROZEN.
This song is such a classic. The beats, the lyrics and the video were HOT!!! Madonna is a legend.
Madonna is a clever woman who has adapted her music to the changing world. From 80 s to 2000 s. She's the queen of pop
Madonna was four months pregnant with her son in this video. Why does Rob think Madonna hasn't been making music for four decades lol. One of her best eras is Confessions era 2005-2006. She's is currently on an 80 date world tour right now.
Good tune, got it on my playlist.
Ok, now check out "Sidewalk Talk", another good dance tune. She raps on it.
Madonna - "Dress You Up " Live from the Virgin tour. You must do it!!
Love this video! Because it showcases Sacha Baron Cohen ( Borat, Brüno) playing his Ali G. character. Also, I really dig the 2000's Madonna. Thanks for playing that video 👍
Hung up and Sorry… really the whole album those songs are on.
I agree. More for Madonna! lol All decades of her music are great, but the 80's and 90's are my favorite I think!
SHE NEEDS TO SEE BORAT!!! Funny as hell movie.
Ray of Light
Don’t Tell Me
Beautiful Stranger
What it Feels Like For a Girl
Hung Up
Get Together
There’s still so many amazing songs of hers to be heard. Late 90s and 2000s Madonna’s vocals were also her best! So rich and smooth.
The look she gives you when the pole dancers get going is classic!!😂
Hung Up was her biggest hit of the 2000s, no.1 in a record 41 countries. You will definitely love it. Club banger!
