Amazing planet, and probably one of the coolest locations in the whole franchise. I'd play a game set entirely on a futuristic, cyberpunk-esque planet, run by corporations and blue alien women with mind quasi-magic powers.
You visit Illium a lot in ME2 but rarely hear about Illium in ME3, in which a news broadcast on the Citadel reports that the planet was under attack claiming that the attackers were the same ones that are attacking Earth and Palaven (Reapers).
I want a Mass Effect RPG where you can live in and explore the Citadel, Illium, Omega, and all the species home worlds. I want to be able to buy and customize my own ships and have properties on the various worlds. We have the technology, and there's more than enough people who would buy that game. The problem is EA will never invest in building a masterpiece. They want cheap and easy investment returns.

I think the thing I liked most about Illium is the way it mixes Asari and Human architecture. I don't normally give a damn about that sort of thing, but it really stands out on Illium.
I'd love if they did a mass effect TV/Netflix series. Okay, it probably wouldn't be nearly as good as the games but it's such a cool universe. Seems a shame its no longer used.

Is a shame that Mass Effect doesn't have player houses, I would love have an apartment on Illium, like the one that Liara has, o one apartment in Omega, they only give you a nice penthouse in Mass Effect 3, but they could have done more.
They missed out on telling you illums fate, in the early days of the reaper war ilium was under a full scale attack by the reapers, before moving into Asari space, it is likely the entire population itself was harvested
Last thing people heard from Illium is that the Reapers had a hard time breaching numerous defence structure at the orbit. That haven't count numerous other installation planetside. In short, the richs in Illium were so paranoid from merc invasion that their planet were as hard to crack as Palaven. And you know how Palaveni Turians operate.
Illium is not a soft world, it's an intersection which runs into the Terminus Systems, and also they have semi-legal corporations and multiple stellar merc headquarters here. Also have plenty of defense systems, also it's home to Krogan and Turians as well as Asari and Volus and others as well. Illium was mentioned as being able to resist the reapers, so part of the planet may have survived.
I love this planet it reminds me of Coruscant the famous celebrities politicians high class on the higher levels and the poor day to day citizens mixed in with gangs mafia crime rings in lower levels I hope the explore Illium in the next game or in a comic book or novel.
