Bud and Lou had a falling out for a number of years so in order to meet their contractual obligations they appeared in a few films where they do not act together as the usually do. The Time of Their lives is another such film. The reason for the dispute was that Lou had fired a long time housekeeper in an angry outburst. However, Bud, having been a frequent guest at Lou's home was well familiar with the housekeeper and had known her for years. So, he took pity on her plight and hired her to come work in his home. This enraged Lou, who took it as a personal insult and refused to speak or work with Bud for a number of years afterwards.

Lou was wonderful in this film..he made me laugh..but..he also made me cry..He had the talents of a true clown.
