2 things 1: he played in a noise band while wearing a really fucking thick mask so he had to force his hands to memorize most of the fretboard (also I think he was on speed at the time) 2: he’s fuckin John Dwyer
Over the years you get to realize how much of a legend Dwyer and the band really are. They are just willing to go down many roads but keep it their signature style within wherever the music goes
songs in d standard tuning. what he does on the recording and live is kick on his delay and start bending around the 17th / 19th frets on the high D and A strings to set the tone and then he randomly slides around the fretboard making chaotic sounds. its mainly random so just play whatever, it doesn't really fucking matter lmao.
That bassplayer looks down on his hands as hes playing all throughout entire gigs. They say if he should ever look up he would instantly mess up the songs. So he doesnt. He just keeps staring down onto that fretboard.
I will never understand how John Dwyer can be so wild and remain so tight

Probably my two favourite bands as well funnily enough. Check out the German band 'Can' if you don't know them.
Having said that, you probably will know them due to Damo Suzuki 🤣
