Kiyomizudera is one of the temples that's still definitely worth visiting despite how crowded it is! What a beautiful place. Standing up there and looking out over the city is so inspirational and just transports you back in time. I can't help but think about what it would have been like hundreds of years ago before the tourists and the modern city. It's not hard to see why it was considered a holy place. :)
+Rachel & Jun If you are interested in the Kiyomizu temple view of hundreds of years ago, I recommend you to see following screens depict panoramic view of Kyoto City "The area in and around the Kyoto city (Funaki-version)" You can browse them on the e- Museum web pages. I will tell and guide you if you wish.
Kiyomiza was one of the highlights of my trip to Kyoto. Beautiful place with an amazing view. I even bought a cup from where you drink the water to remember the visit and still drink green tea in it today.
I've been to Kiyomizudera during winter & although it was cold, the temple was truly beautiful with snowfall. I'll be there this Spring too, but viewing your video makes me want to re-visit during Autumn now! Beautiful. To stage dive, I'd kinda roll off (wrapped in a mattress of some sort) & hopefully bounce as I landed! My wish would be to indefinitely travel throughout Japan with no time &/or money constraints.
will be in kyoto in a few days and will definetly go there! i just wanted to thank you for all the amazing videos you have made so far! the editing and filming is so impressive and your videos are so inspiring because they capture so much athmosphere! can't wait for more videos! :)
Beautiful video. One of my favourite places in Japan. I'm looking forward to experiencing the night illumination when I return next year in November. PS love the Vegeta statue in the background :)
Great job on editing out the renovation works! I really can't wait for them to be finished. And I have only ever visited Kiyomizudera once during the Autumn season, and I loved the day visit and Illuminations.
You've certainly inspired me to go, although I hope it's as beautiful during the spring as it is in the fall. I don't think I could wait that long... Those fall colors are insane, though.
I would stuff an airbag into my clothes and tuck and roll (and have the paramedics waiting at the bottom). I would wish for the ability to spend the rest of my life traveling Japan and seeing all there is to see. Nice Totoro phone case btw.
Gorgeous video of what looks to be an amazing place. It must be absolutely amazing during sakura season. I would have to forgo the jump, I am afraid of heights. But, if I did it, I would wish for the world to be a more zen like place.
It looks rather crowded but the scenery sure is stunning! I'm a bit jealous I have to say but maybe I'll be able to visit it myself during my next trip. Anyway great video as always! :) I hope by the time of your next visit you'll be able to lift Benkeis staff ;)
Hi +Vincent L. , always good to hear from you! Sadly, during this time of year it is rather crowded. There's no avoiding it if you want to see Kiyomizudera during autumn colors. Next time I visit I hope I can lift it too! I think my technique was wrong (and I'm just too weak). -Andrew
Love the video! Is that Samurai Jack there? Also, love the soft light flickering transition when you change to a different footage. Does that transition have a name?
+Shockerz Lee The character is based on Samurai Jack (but not 100% for copyright reasons ^_^). The transition is called a light leak. Here's more info and downloads: www.premiumbeat.com/blog/7-places-find-free-light-leaks/
There is an old saying: I did that like jumping off from Kiyomizu's stage. But I never knew some people actually had done that :( Thanks for enlightening me!
Would a hang glider be allowed? :p I didn't know about the iron spear thing, must try that if I get a chance to visit again. I really want to visit Japan again. Awesome autumn footage again!
Nice autumn colours! I went during the sakura season last year and it was really nice as well. Would've posted it here, but RUclips doesn't do links in the comments section. ):

Ahh I would have tried to lift that metal thing but I didn't know about it. I already have Excalibur in my possession, so I assume it would have a cinch. :(
Survive by rolling. Still a few bones may be broken, but you will survive. There is an interesting dragon performance at Kiyomizudera a few times a year called, "Seiryue."
Question about the otowa waterfall. You said that the water is there for people to partake of but in your video I only see you 'wash your hand' with it. Is it traditional to drink it or 'wash' with it? Also many of the kimonos were very pretty along with the great looking foliage.
I think I'd wear one of those wing suits. That way there are two benefits. I'd survive the fall, and all the people would think I was some sort of wizard or something!
Given I saw it my last day in Japan after a 21 day temple run and could barely walk (and then had to do all that temple-to-temple distance in my socks), I'm pretty sure a jump like that would be with the hopes to put me out of my foot and knee misery. ;-)
Iron spear and sandals of kiyomizu are women-friendly attraction. As for touching with the iron clogs, there is a benefit for women to have luxurious shoes in the future. On the other hand...If a man touched with them, he will be tied to his wife forever just as the pair of clogs are tied to each other with iron chain.
Aaaand you just gave me another travel destination. I don't think you can comprehend how much you're going to cost me, stop making these videos! They're dangerous.

+Rachel & Jun Agreed. It's rare to to find a place that transports you like the grounds of Kiyomizudera.
I LIKE THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO REPORTAGE ,AND YES ! KIYOMISUDERA IS SO BEAUTIFULL!
Kiyomiza was one of the highlights of my trip to Kyoto. Beautiful place with an amazing view. I even bought a cup from where you drink the water to remember the visit and still drink green tea in it today.
+Perdomot Fun! Thanks for the comment!
Looks a magic place in Kyoto - well done.
The moment the music starts I know stuff's gonna be real good. You're an absolutely amazing video creator!
The quality of your videos is incredible o-o
Man, I really need to visit Japan in the fall sometime! The footage in this video was absolutely beautiful.

+Letters from Japan Yes! Go later this month or early next for sakura season.

Two words: moon boots. Great video, as always.

+brielle8383 Not a bad wish.

Beautiful!
I would jump down just like those parkour guys, my wish would be a secret ;)
stunning!!!

+Kuroyuki I'm glad.

New subscriber here! Your videos are awesome! They look so smooth! How many frames per second do you shoot your videos?
Beautiful video :D

During the illumination, you can see the lighted up temple from the Kyoto Tower. The temple is still under renovation right?
+Sortie Happy At the moment, still under renovation. I believe you can see it from the tower but I'm not 100% sure.
Beautiful video. Have you shot it through an iPhone?
Ahh I would have tried to lift that metal thing but I didn't know about it. I already have Excalibur in my possession, so I assume it would have a cinch. :(
+K&S TV (Japan ・Culture ・Fun) Ha! Probably.
Survive by rolling. Still a few bones may be broken, but you will survive.

+DancesWithCranes good option. I'm still partial to inflatable hips, but your method is good too. :-D
I'm running out of compliments!
I think no matter where you go (world wide) fall is a great season to do it... or maybe spring?
+UnArtig Spring and Fall are my 2 favorite seasons.

Yes, you wash your hands and drink the water.
is that hanamura?
I don't think so.
didn't they also use the trees to brake their fall?
+ripeporksta Seems sensible.

+Happy In Japan It's really a win all the way around haha!
the end hehehehe

In that note, I was there Dec. 1st. When were you there?
*Guess* *I* *jump* *again*
I think Japanese government needs to help Lori and Andrew keep making these beautiful videos.
My jumping strategy is, ambulance.
+scoobygpc HA! Not a bad go-to.
Samurai Jack!
