I saw Conan O'Brien and his kids at the Aquarium once and his kid sneezed on my kid (innocently having fun and looking at fish) but she got a cold and we were just (strangely?) excited that she had a 'famous" cold!!!! Funny memory!
I looked it up and Matt is right. "Elias Baldwin was the first one to import-from India in 1878 to live on his land in what is now Arcadia. When Baldwin died in 1909, Los Angelos County bought a total of 238 acres of his land to create the LA Arboretum. Baldwin's peafowl came along with the land. Over time the peafowl spread out to become street survivors."
You see them all the time blocking the streets. It freaked me the f out when what I thought was a branch with leaves hanging from a tree turned out to be a peacock’s tail.

The small wildcats (eg caracals, servals, and bobcats) just come off tougher than the big ones like lions, leopards, and cougars.

This is off topic but why did the podcast studio team reduced the bandwidth to mere 64kbps from 128kbps stereo when they moved to the new studio.
I understand that the size is literally double but my point is that the RUclips clips of the same episode sounds so much better than the podcast one

I live on a little island outside Jacksonville, and there’s all kinds of things in this neighborhood. Family of peacocks, buzzards, geese, herons, of course squirrels, deer, raccoons, and armadillos. Not like it was in Dallas. We missed you and the Chill Chums Conando!

Years ago parrots escaped from an airport in the NY, NJ area and settled in Englewood, NJ. Green parrots are hanging in the trees in the middle of winter.
I once saw a bobcat here in San Diego but it was tall and lanky not like all the short ,stocky ones I see footage/photos of. Very strange.

Pretty sure those peacocks are the progeny of kept peacocks from La Canada. We used to hear them daily in the 90's but then they dropped off and we don't hear them anymore. We assumed they'd all died. Glad they're still alive around here and making their cat-like meow-songs

Peacocks from Arcadia are always a looming threat.
I was confused when he said bobcats are almost as small as house cats.
I thought they would be as big as the lynxes we have here in Europe, but they are like half the size!
Meanwhile far away from Altadena, in Mendocino County, Just yesterday I watched out my window as for the very first time a bobcat came to visit. It crossed the parking area in front of the house, then made itself at home lounging about on a patch of grass for several minutes, licking itself, before strolling off into the woods.
