My only good experiences with Rouge have been with their 767 before they got retired. I’ve flown their A319 and A321 and I find them terribly tight. And they are not any cheaper than the regular carrier.
Even if the onboard experience is less convincing than that of Air Canada on the same route, Rouge remains an interesting option versus the competition since it is often cheaper with several flight options given the significant presence of Air Canada in the MIA-FLL region. Also, many features are the same as Air Canada on their flights as you noted. The experience aboard the 767s was more pleasant than on their Airbus fleet for a three-hour flight.
wouldn't say it being "cheaper" is completely true. Cheaper if there's multiple airlines operating the same routes into the same markets? Sure. But if Rouge is the ONLY option, be prepared to pay $400 one-way in economy. Ask anyone is Saskatchewan what they pay for a Rouge flight to YYZ and your jaw will be on the floor.
I did fly with Air Canada Rouge from Vancouver to Puerto Vallarta back in 2015. Honestly, it was best described as a mediocre flight. The only good thing was that I was in Premium Rouge aka Business Class and that we get to use the IPads for free as the economy has to pay for them. Like really, even on an international flight.
Yup I saw both Air Canada Rouge Fleet of Airbus before Since I'm from The Caribbean Island of Barbados my home country and they still fly there in some Countries not all Awesome Video Man!!!!
I flew with AC Rouge between Toronto-Thunder Bay and Toronto-Santa Clara, Cuba back in 2019. Right now AC Rouge can't fly into Thunder Bay due to runway work on the main runway which the secondary runway can only handle propeller planes. But I can't wait for AC Rouge to resume Thunder Bay service once the main runway is completed.
I haven’t flown in 20 years and will experience Rouge and regular Air Canada in a couple weeks. Thanks for this! Also, your video gave me brain chills. Thanks!
Rouge is AC’s answer to other low cost budget carriers. Their service, seats, and even FAs are intentionally at a lower standard compared to the AC mainline. Basically, don’t expect lie flat seats, 4 course meals in business, built in IFE, pillows/blankets, or other perks like dedicated concierge. Rouge is intentionally branded to be different from the standard AC experience, which is miles better especially in PE and J class. Thanks for the trip report! Btw, how do you like the ground experience at YUL airport?
To be honest I don’t really like Air Canada Rouge mainly due to the reviews but I never actually flown on them. (Honest) I mainly prefer the Real Air Canada since it’s more better and the service is great.
On October 30, 2022, we were on the Air Canada Rouge flight from Fort Lauderdale to Ottawa. What a miserable flight! Dirty environment (we were sitting in 1A and 1 C), lousy food and service. My husband asked for coffee when his food tray was brought and never got it. We were left with just the little bottle of water that was already there at our seats when we arrived at our seats. So much water for a 3.5 hour trip! I don’t care about the entertainment. From what I understood from what I found on my iPad, I was asked to pay for whatever kind of connection I chose. I was furious when I left this flight…the twenty something flight attendant couldn’t be bothered with her passengers except the two sitting across from us. Good luck traveling this route!
I used to be super elite with Air Canada for several years, don’t bother with Rouge , it’s sub service with old airplane. Go for the real deal I.e. Air Canada but don’t expect high quality service if you’re not travelling in Business Class …. They are not able to to do it and you will feel that you are always bothering the staff with you hope and demands . They do not care, are unionized and know that they cannot be let go .
Lots of hate for not much reason. First of all, you buy a CHEAP ticket - don't be VIP creeping because you are NAVP. Secondly, pitch is fine - have flown 2 x 319 and 2 x 767 and really no difference to basic economy seating on any national carrier. Food to purchase is totally decent and actually pretty interesting choices I would say. FA's on my last flight all looked like they were college students and went back to cramming their books once the service ended. For a sub 4 hour run to the sun you'll be fine, just fine.
Yeah lemme be honest here, legroom is horrible compared to legacy Air Canada prices, and at least in Miami, where rouge and air Canada both switch operations without a price change, it’s not at all a cheap ticket trust me. In fact I’ve payed less for air Canada out of Miami than I have for rouge out of here. So yes, I do stand by my comments in this video which are not negative, just reflective on what my experience was compared to regular air Canada
It always concerns me when I see you imbibing hard liquor when flying--thankfully you have no plans to drive while in Canada! Does Rouge have open seating? You indicated 'assign myself seat 27A'--was there any significant price difference with Rouge Plus? Quite the climate change between sunny, warm Miami and snowy, blustery Montreal! What were your plans for the next day, assuming you overnighted at a nearby hotel? And yes,we all know you're lactose intolerant! :)
No air Canada rouge does the same as air Canada, you choose your seat at the time of booking or at check in. If you have status you could get upgraded!
Air Canada Rouge is the worst experience. I bought tickets for air Canada with specific seats paid months in advance. Downgraded to air Canadian rouge despite paying more for air Canada flight. Disgusted and plan to take this to Ministry of transportation. Getting lots to support in signatures from across Canada.
Air Canada is by far the worst airline I’ve ever flown with. I flew from Toronto to Calgary on one of their A321 airbuses and I’ve never been as cramped in my life and no Aircon while sat at the gate, was stifling until we got up in the air. A 3.5 hr flight and not even a meal handed out Which they do promise on their website.
Not flown Rouge yet but this summer I might as they are scheduled to return to Sacramento SMF with a daily flight to Vancouver. Whoops, never mind…it’s on Jazz a crj900. 🫠
Fun fact : I know that first officer, he's flying a lot on Vatsim! Really nice guy.
One of the best trip report on You Tube. Thank you!

Thank-you for the video... my son and I will be on this plane in 19 days and this video gave me idea at least on what to expect 👍
Awesome video. I always wondered what flying Rouge was like.

I liked the video, the trip seemed very smooth.

@Timothy Simpson well then fly AC mainline (instead of Rouge which is their budget subsidiary), and pay for business class :) problem solved.

Hi, i would just like to let you know that it is Montreal-Trudeau 😊
i have never had a bad experience flying Rouge or Air Canada. You get what you pay for. Next time try booking the extra leg room seats.

My birthday is Feb 20
Same day of your flight ✈️!
ty for showing this video so xoool
Future flight suggestion: FLL-YUL, AC901, A330.
Do you think that AC's A321s will go to Rouge as they get replaced by the LRs?
Tight legroom, yes alcohol makes everything better, much better. Not too bad for cheap. By the way, how you like living in Miami.
I would love to travel to Canada someday I think that's where they make maple syrup have you ever tried their Canadian food before?
come to Québec. The poutine is outstanding.
@@orchidtreasure1484 maybe I should
Hi can you do a gulf air trip report I am a captain on the a321neo’s please and thank you
Zapatería 3 Hermanos 👌
Very nice! Just wish that the mainline A321 gets refitted with new seats with the IFE from the A220!

1:10, where exactly is "Montréal-Turdeu" ???????????????????????????????????????????????
1:11 - Montreal Turdeau?
I feel sorry you got their budget airline instead of the main airline.
lol, its rouge, you have to pay for more power outlet usage
I don’t understand why people will complain about legroom… It’s economy not first class or business class what do you expect?😂😂😂
Gee idk, maybe because this legroom falls UNDER the standard average of 31” for economy.
You wrote wrong in the intro
Did Rouge restart? Thought they ceased operations.
they were suspended for a while during covid but very much operating again but they don't have the 767's anymore
@@aselwyn1 Thanks for the clarification. Had no idea about them since they suspended ops

Is Air Canada Rouge flying as Air Canada Rouge by the Air Canada Rouge crew for Air Canada Rouge?

What was the issue with the passport? Lol
Alcohol makes everything taste better 😅

Do another delta first class longer than 900 miles, plated meals are back, domestic, not transcontinental, like ATL-DEN or something
One of my next videos is actually just that, and let me say this, the meal was amazing
@@ITripReport yes, I had beef short rib with cheesecake, mashed potatoes, ceaser salad. Delta has the best food I swear
Looking forward to it!
