WHY WOULD ANYONE BE A COP NOWDAYS? I salute all these young people who do. Thank you for putting your lives on the line for people you don’t even know. You are APPRECIATED
Take it from me rookies: if you don’t dry fire four times per week and live fire twice per month (you might have to spend your own money) a bad guy stands a good chance of dropping you. I’m tired of funerals so stay hungry.
The primary difference between a police officer and a deputy sheriff is their jurisdiction, or the geographical area in which they can legally operate. A deputy sheriff typically possesses jurisdiction over an entire county, which may contain several small towns and cities.
To add on to the previous reply, In California Police officers and Deputies can share jurisdiction, example would be say you are a police officer in Berkeley CA and you are in Oakland CA for follow up, if for some reason you see a traffic violation in that city afterwards you can still conduct traffic as normal and as if it were your own city, Being a deputy Is the same concept for any city in the county
Another difference is the Sheriff is also responsible for running the county jail, courthouse security (bailiffs), and a civil department (restraining orders, evictions, etc) the main job of a police officer is to enforce the laws inside their city limits while the sheriff deputies enforce laws outside of the city limits, as well as serve civil paperwork. You can also be assigned to the courthouse security to protect the judges, or you can be a correctional deputy and be assigned to the jail

Recruit Bailey.. see you in Season 3! 🎉
If I was a new recruit and was given the Fair Oaks, Orangevale or Citrus Heights area to patrol I would be a happy camper.
Well done recruits! Be safe out there.
