  • This slideshow documents some of the images captured during our drive from Jodhpur to Udaipur.
Along the way we stopped to visit the Om Banna Temple, where travellers stop to pray to a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle and it's deceased owner, in order to be rewarded with safe travel. More on this temple here on Wikipedia en.wikipedia.o...
We stayed overnight in the beautiful Rawla Narlai Hotel and joined a Leopard Safari operated from the Hotel. We were extremely lucky to watch three Leopards, a female with two 3/4 grown cubs, come down from the rocks in the late afternoon, and later on dark, to appear within 15-20 meters from our open jeep. We were thrilled.
Narlai is a fascinating town, the streets are full of cows, dogs, and Black Faced Lemurs, and wandering the streets with our cameras in the early morning was a very cool way to start the day. From Narlai the geography changes dramatically as we drove into the mountains and wind along on very narrow roads through river deep gorges cloaked with forest. This contrast with the desert followed us through to the city of Udaipur, for me one of the most beautiful cities in Rajasthan, and here we noticed a marked increase in other tourists, most of whom travel through Udaipur coming either to, or from, Agra.

Camera gear used is mostly a Leica M10-P and 35mm Summicron ASPH, though I did use a Sony A9 & Olympus Zuiko 100mm lens for some safari images. The Leopard image, highly cropped and noisy as it is, was taken by my friend Mike, with his A9 and a 200-600mm lens.
