As a knitter who ALSO watches podcasts while knitting, and as an old widow with many hours in the day to fill and have therefore watched hundreds of podcasts, I can say with complete authority that you KILLED it on your very first podcast. ❣️ You have quickly become a very proficient knitter - looking back to when I was at the two year mark of knitting, I was still doing cowls and shawls. 😀 You definitely did not speak too quickly - you have a great pace. Slow speaking podcasters kind of put me to sleep and are agonizing to watch. 😜 Looking forward to more episodes from you! ❣️
Janet, thank you so very much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment. I truly appreciate you. The podcasts really help you get the sense of community and friendship as you sit and knit, don’t they?
Hailey!!! I’m so happy you’ve finally taken the plunge into the podcasting world. I can’t wait to see what fun you get up to on your trip! xo Mia 💛
Thank you so very much, Mia!! I’m so glad to be here. 🤗🤗🤗
Fantastic first podcast! It is so refreshing to watch a podcast that is not full of Petite Knit and My Favorite Things Knitwear patterns. I really enjoyed seeing some very unique designs and yarns. I will definitely be watching you again. Thank you to Francesca, @AnItalianKnitter , for suggesting that you do a podcast of your own!
Lisa, I’m so glad you liked my pattern selections. You may see a couple of those designers from time to time from me. But I do really try to select some smaller, less saturated designers. I just think there are so many wonderful designers and yarns out there, I can’t just stick to one or two.
@@Knitweekend I agree wholeheartedly! There are definitely some underrated designers with fantastic patterns who deserve to be noticed, too. I don't mind seeing big designers' patterns, but I get tired of seeing the same names across so many podcasts. Variety is the spice of life!
You did so great for a “first timer” 😮 Really enjoyed watching 👍🏻
I’m so glad to hear this!! I hope you’ll watch again. xo
Hi Hailey, I’m so happy that you started podcasting, I loved hearing about your projects! Happy knitting! -Marissa
Hi Marissa!!!! Thank you so much for coming over to watch this. This venue feels a bit more personal, doesn’t it? I look forward to connecting with you here as well.
You did amazing! I can't believe your friend just suggested to you to start a channel and you did right away as if you've been doing it forever! And you are an amazing knitter too. I've been knitting 55 years and am nowhere near as good a knitter as you.
Well I’ve been tumbling over the idea in my head for a bit. So I thought maybe it was the universe telling me to just do it!! I’m one of those dive right in people which is why I think I’ve progressed so much in two years.
New subscriber here in NYS. You did a great job...including audio! 🎉 May I suggest you block your husband's sweater before he tries on....1..it will look better...2. You can better judge if the sleeves and length are ok or if they need adjusting. Your knits are awesome. I think as a new knitter you are fearless in your pattern choices. I've been knitting for decades and won't attempt an overall cable knit. 😮 hope you keep podcasting. ❤
PS. Don't call yourself a selfish knitter. It's your hobby. I prefer to refer to myself as a personal knitter. 😊
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. Paula, to be honest, my challenge is we have small home and there is no space that he wouldn’t see it out. He doesn’t know it’s finished yet and I’d like it to be a surprise that it’s completed. But I 100% agree with both of your comments on blocking above. I am usually an avid blocker even socks and mittens!!
@@Knitweekend I hope he loves it.
I am absolutely blown away by your beautiful knitting and fearlessness! I am so glad I found your Podcast!
I’m SO GLAD you said hello. Thanks for watching!
I agree with Janet you NAILED it girl! Your style is straightforward and friendly, and you are a great knitter. No, you didn't talk too fast. Like you, I live in Tennessee and I am ecstatic to hear there is a fiber festival in Middle TN! I live in West TN about 3 hours from Nashville, so please tell us more about the fiber festival. I am so looking forward to your next podcast.
Hi Pamela! Thank you so much for this sweet comment. The Fiber Festival is NEXT WEEKEND March 24&25 at the Dickson Country Fair Grounds. So probably only 2 hours from you then. Sadly I don’t be able to make it. But if you go, I also highly recommend Buckmaster Family Farm’s Icelandic Yarn. It’s one of my favorite yarns of the year. I’m wearing my sweater I made with it right now actually.
You did a great job and your projects are beautiful. I live in Clarksville...about an hour away. I go to Trenton, Ky to my LYS...The Wooden Needle. Knitting is therapy for me!!
Thank you, Lucile!! Yes, you’re not far away at all. Happy to connect with you. I’ll keep your LYS in mind for a woolly road trip day. Thanks!!
Hey! I’m over in Knoxville! How cool to find a knitting podcast in Tennessee. You’re a seriously good knitter and especially for being such a new knitter! Your cat cracks me up😂. Looking forward to your next episode!
Hi Rebecca! Great to connect with you and thank you for the kind words. I’m glad you stumbled upon this channel!! I am sure Georgie will make regular appearances.
Happy you decided to make your own channel! Love the sweater you're wearing! and the cat, so cute ^.^ mine are always in my videos as well haha! or rolling arround in the projects i take out.
Thank you this lovely encouragement!! Georgie will be the star of the show, I’m sure. Haha!
Your projects look amazing especially the Basic Raglan sweater.
Oh thank you!!! I can hardly wait until that one is worn by it’s owner. Only a couple more weeks now!
So excited you're starting a podcast!! As always, I'm obsessed with your perfect warm neutral yarny vibes 😍
Awww thanks Viki!! I feel like I live in Fall all year 😆
Great debut! You are a natural in front of the camera and great lighting, sound and of course great projects!
Beverly, THANK YOU! Turns out all the windows and white walls in our house make for the perfect natural light. Haha!
An other “Southern “ podcast!!!!
I am always so impressed from people that knit since short time and are able to create masterpieces already!
Since I knit since most of my life, I should be able to achieve anything, BUT I AM NOT!
Maybe I need to risk a little bit more.
Anyway Italian greetings from Arkansas!Kimmy Lou
Hello Kimmy Lou! Thanks for your comment. I do think I took to it quickly because it’s in my blood. My grandmother was an avid crocheter. I also think I learned so much so quickly because for a long while I chose a pattern that would teach me a new skill. So, I’d say just go for it! Be fearless! The worst that will happen is you frog it. And we’ve all been there… more than once 🤗
Love your first podcast, look forward to more! The Rug Sweater looks beautiful. I have added that to my ever growing list of 'things to knit' :)
The Rug Sweater is a great knit. I would not be at all surprised if I knit another one at some point.
You are amazing! I’ll be back for the next one, and the next one. Keep them coming! I’m from Canada.
Joyce, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Great first episode! Your video showed up in my recommended feed tonight! So I just subscribed! Also working on putting together my first real episode. I love watching so many other podcasts as well! And I agree that we’ll be able to share more here than we can on Instagram. I’m looking forward to your next episode! Happy knitting! 🧶
Oh thank you so much for your comment and subscribing!! Good luck with your first episode. I know it’s a bit nerve wracking. But might as well dive right in!
@@Knitweekend my thoughts exactly! I do have a few other channels (for my other hobbies and interests) but I've really been missing the more meaningful interactions within our fiber community! 🥰
For a first video, you did and awesome job🎉
Thanks for sharing, I am just learning had Annette Annette, my first tank top, and getting ready to knit a cardigan. Maybe petite knits
Hailey. I truly enjoyed your podcast. You present well, and your comments are interesting. I have been knitting for 65+ years (since about age 10), but love watching podcsts while knitting. Francesca (I found her while looking for knitting podcsts in italian, oh well.) is a fresh voice, and viewpoint, along with Rebecca Clow of Creabea. Both share their excitement with knitting and yarn. A great learning tool is starting with Epidsode #1 and listening to all 130 espisodes of Fruitty Knitting for well developed and experienced commentary of techniques, yarns, and designers, among other subjects. That is how I passed much of the first year of Covid, along with getting lots and ltos of knitting done while watching! I am now watching the Friday broadcasts - again from the first one forward - of Andrea Mowry's (I'll knit if I Want To) podcast. Each week she responds to 4-5 questions viewers send to her. For a different approach to concent there are Big Little Knits and Knitting Traditions, both of which are interesting to watch, but the podcasters are not quite my style. The others I would love to spend an afternoon with in person on a regular basis. Anyway, I look forward to spending more time "with" you.
Thank you so much for spending a little time with me!! I’m glad you find so many wonderful podcasts to keep you company. I feel the same!
Hi from Tasmania, really enjoyed your video, love your knitting and looking forward to many more videos.❤
Hello and thank you so very much for watching!!
great podcast! keep them coming!
Oh thank you so much!!! xo
Hi Hailey, knitting saved my life in lockdown, so glad to see I'm not alone xxx love your podcasting style and your gorgeous cat ❤
I’m so grateful I discovered knitting!! It’s brought me so much joy and been an amazing creative outlet. I’m sure you feel the same!!
Francesca is my favourite knitting podcaster. Love her personality and her taste in knits. Yay! I am happy you are here. Another podcast to watch. Subscribed!
Oh thank you, Karen!! She is so fun. I’m glad I’m here too. I look forward to connecting with you more.
I’m subscribing! I love your projects and you don’t talk too fast :). I live in NC and choose similar projects. Great job!
Dana, that’s so wonderful! I am glad we can connect here. Drop me a line from time to time to let me know what you’re working on. Maybe one day we will be on the same project?
! Not ?
Hello Hailey.....I just have to tell you how much I really enjoyed your first podcast ....you are a real natural and for someone who has only been knitting for around two years you should be very proud of yourself. Your lovely smiling face when you talk is so natural and I'm looking forward to seeing you next podcast and what comes off your needles in the weeks to come. 🌹
Thank you for such a lovely, encouraging comment!! Knitting has become my biggest passion these past two years. And how lucky am I to have this online community to support me?!
Lovely podcast!! Thanks for sharing all your gorgeous knits!
Thank YOU for dropping by to say hello!
Love your projects! And podcast💜. I am an old knitter who just discovered knitting podcasts and so grateful to everyone who share their knitting processes and projects...and themselves ❤ such a wonderful community!
(And casting on the rug sweater now!)
Thank you so much!! I only found podcasts recently as well. It is so lovely to really get a sense of personality and here more about the knitters processes.
Wow, nice sweaters!!! Large enough to wear for years and years!!! Being a newbie has it's advantages. I was surprised at what I could do when I didn't know better!
Thank you Cynthia!! I do adore them as well. The only problem is that my family members try them on a claim them for themselves. Haha! But it’s a lovely compliment that someone would want to wear something I’ve made. Thanks for commenting. xo
Thank you ❤
That was lovely, I look forward to seeing more of you podcasts
Thank you very much, Deborah! I appreciate you watching.
Well done! Your speaking has a smooth flow to it, and your knitting is beautiful!
Thank you very much!! Hope you’ll check back next weekend for Episode 2. xo
so happy to see that you've started a podcast! can't wait to see more of you !
have a good day!
Hiiiii!!! YAY!! Thank you for connecting over here as well. Hugs to you!!
Great first podcast so interesting, loved it can’t wait for the next one. Thank you.
Oh thank you so much!!!
Yep, we like you!! You did a great job on your first podcast. I can't wait to see what you're up to next.
Awwww… thank you so much Sharon!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely podcast! I'll be back for sure. I loved the projects you showed us. ❤
This makes me so happy! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!!
Hi Hailey, great first podcast. You have some great projects and finished objects. Looking forward to the next video. I just made it to the one-year mark for my channel. Happy making
Hi Lisa! Thanks so much. A year seems like soooo long. Haha! Well done on your longevity and consistency!!
Can’t believe this is your first podcast, you’re so chill in front of the camera! And I didn’t think you were speaking too fast at all, I really enjoyed watching this!
Oh thank you so much, Heather!! I hope we will continue to connect over future episodes.
Fantastic first podcast! Your screen presence is wonderful. Hope you continue, Greetings from Colorado! Valerie
Thank you so much!! I do plan to. In fact, I’ve got a mini queued up to publish tomorrow!
This is an amazing first video. You never would have known. My only suggestion would be to stand and show the sweater on. I would love to have seen the full rug sweater on you. And maybe post pics of the project patterns you have done and wearing them up in the corner? Or just of the project.
Lighting was great, you didn’t speak to fast, love the bloops(cat bloops included). Those are sometimes my favorite parts of the podcasts when they keep the bloops. You should be proud. I hope I’m even half as good as you in two years.
Looking forward to your next videos! ❤
Thank so much for this feedback Stacy! I will try to figure out posting photos or B Roll within the video. To be honest, the editing is something I’m very much a novice on and it took me three hours just to edit as it is. But I will get better at it and putting photos in is on my list of things to learn. So just bear with me a bit while I get my feet under me. In the meantime, I do have everything except the blue raglan posted on my Ravelry. Not that you want to dance all over the internet, but it is there if you’d like to see the photos and my project notes. Thank you SO MUCH for liking and commenting. xo
@@Knitweekend You did a nice job, congratulations on taking the big step. I do suggest that while you are talking about your projects that you hold them where we can see them. I am so intrigued by the complicated patterns you are doing for only having knit for such a short time; but I found myself saying 'show me what you're talking about'!!! You need not apologize for anything - you're a delightful person!!
Love!!
Thank you for watching, Tess!!
YAAAASSS! ❤🎉 Excited to have you here.
I love love love the KFO Copper color, it has been on my wishlist for a looong time and you just reignited the fire 🔥 Thank you, I guess 😂
Do it! We can twin from afar. xo
I am a fairly new knitter and I love finding new podcasters! I may be itching to start one soon enough… I absolutely LOVE the colors you have for your Vertices!!! Looking forward to more episodes :)
Hi Hannah! Thanks for commenting. It’s funny because those colors are so out of my comfort zone that I’ve been questioning if I’ve gone a bit sideways. But I think it’s the Spring cheeriness I need after a gray winter.
Enjoyed your video!! The Rug was my first color work….classic! I wear it when camping….so warm!
Thank you, Stephanie! I’m so glad. It’s such a great sweater. I toy with the idea of knitting a second one. What yarn & colors did you choose?
@@Knitweekend I did the classic gray with black in Alafoss Lopi. Price point is great, and so warm….I find it a little scratchy so I just make sure I wear a shirt under it. 😊
@@stephaniepappal4567 I like to layer mine over a turtleneck more of the time when I’m out and about.
Hi Hailey, I really enjoyed your podcast. I’m from the Purled in Texas podcast and our first episode(s) can best be described as a train wreck. 😂.
I can totally relate to knitting challenges while living in a hot climate as I live in Austin where hot is a way of life. You are a fabulous knitter and I enjoyed seeing your projects. Looking forward to more episodes. ❤
Haha! It is a little weird to talk to yourself in a camera, isn’t it?!
It’s like I’m always racing the hot season. And I always seem to be knitting what I want to wear in the current temp. One day I’ll figure out how to work ahead.
Wonderful first podcast! Congratulations.
Thank you so much, Clarissa! Appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Maybe you have adjusted the labels but they read great. You are a great addition to the podcaster community for knitting. Keep going, keep smiling I look forward to seeing you again.
Thanks so much, Leah!! I appreciate you dropping a line. xo
Lovely to meet you loved your podcast and your knits
Hello there! And thank you!! xo
oh how i love your energy, i crave to knit oversized sweaters now
How lovely! Thank you. Cold months and oversized knits… a cozy combination
Hooray! Glad you have a podcast and great first episode.
Hiiii!! Thank you so much. I don’t know how I missed that you launched a podcast. But I’ve subscribed and I look forward to watching (hopefully today)!
@@Knitweekend the whole podcasting thing is wild and nerve-wracking and fun! Fun we are going through it together! 💚
You're adorable and your knitting is gorgeous. Well done. I'm here for the kittycat sightings, too. ;)
Thank you so much!! It’s been fun so far.
Hello Hailey! I'm also a new knit podcaster- it's nice to meet you!!
Oh fantastic! I’ll be sure to pop over and watch your podcast too.
just found you and really enjoyed your podcast-you come across like you've been podcasting forever!!
Oh I’m so glad to hear this!! Thanks for spending some time with me. xo
Great job!! Love your projects and I look forward to future episodes. Be sure to properly introduce your kitty next time ❤
Haha! Okay Sherrie, will do. Something tells me she will end up being the real star here
Great job
Junco! I have knit only one of her patterns and have had the Bright sweater in my cue forever. Should do this winter.
Always wanted to try issager alpaca yarn. Is it softish or rough?
Hi Hailey, I just found you and after watching for a bit hit the subscribe button. I like that you aren't nervous about trying projects that for most relative newbies would be terrifying. You go girl! I haven't heard of some of the yarns you talk about, especially the Danish one and the Echoview. Can you say where you bought them or found out about each yarn in your next video? Thanks, and look forward to seeing the next one. P.S. is it still that warm in Nashville? That sweater looks really warm.
Hi Marla! Yes maybe I’ll do a little “Where Did You Get That Yarn?” mini episode to share my favorite online shops with you!!
Good job! I will be in Nashville in two weeks. Is there a yarn shop I should visit?
Hi Cindy! First, thank you so much for commenting and subscribing. I know Modern Daily Knitting is working on getting a brick & mortar / workshop space setup, but I don’t think they are open quite yet. Haus of Yarn on Charlotte Ave is our only yarn store in Nashville proper. She stocks two local dyers, Camellia Fiber Co and Mofibers. If you are looking for a special Nashville souvenir yarn, these would be it! And on March 24-25th, if you can Roadtrip a bit, the Middle TN Fiber Festival is going on at the Dickson County Fairgrounds. It’s about an hour’s drive west.
I like that you knit some projects I've not seen other podcasters talk about. Lots of inspiration here. Also, if it's not too weird a question, how tall are you? I'm 152cm (5 ft exactly) and also end up shortening sleeves and body a lot. You can tell when a knitting pattern is written for a much taller person.
Hi Claudia!! I’m recording a mini episode today. I’ll include my measurements and height. I think you’re right that this is helpful info. You can check for it next Friday!
Oh sorry… I forgot to actually include my height. Haha!! 154cm
Did you use the magic loop method on your rug sweater? And what sweater would you recommend for a first knitted sweater? ❤
I don’t actually think I used either. The sleeves are quite wide and I think I used my shorties for them.
If you have not knitted any sized garment before, I would actually recommend a vest or tank top. BUT as a sweater, probably something like The Lodge sweater from Ozetta or The Aosta sweater from The Knit Purl Girl. Both of these designers give really helpful details for a first sweater project.
Hello, happy to subscribe!! As a real beginner I wish I can show such beautiful items in a few years. I must be one of your most unlikely subscribers, as I'm French, living on a very little french island in the Indian Ocean, Reunion Island. So please, forgive my english, but I will definitely follow you as a source of inspiration!
Hi Carole, Bienvenue! I have many French speaking people in my life. I know only the least bit of French. I am quite confident your English is better than my French. No apologies needed!!
I’m so glad you commented. You can be a dedicated knitter in no time. This Friday I’ll be posting a mini episode where I share my first project and some beginner sweater recommendations. Make sure to check back this weekend for that. Bonne Journee!
Hello form Denmark, I just found you and really enjoyed your podcast. I am a podcaster to, but only in Danish so it is unfortunately not relevant for you 😊 But I will love to follow
I take this as a high compliment from another podcaster! Thank you for commenting and following.
