- To be able to harvest and plate up your very own home grown food is one of life's absolute joys! It's the end of October and I'm still finding some delicious organic goodies, so it's time to see how quick I can turn them into a hearty, organic meal.
What are you still harvesting? Let me know in the comments below.

I love it when I've grown everything on my plate. We used to do meat chickens and turkeys those meals were special
It’s so satisfying isn’t it?!
Gotta love a one pot wonder but when it's your own veggies, picked fresh and cooked there and then in nature it's an awesome achievement and no better feeling.... Almost primal. Another nice video 👍
It is! There's such a sense of satisfaction knowing that you've done it all yourself! Glad you enjoyed it - thank you.
This is such an inspirational video, Jane! Just look how much you had when you felt like there wasn’t all that much left 😍 a wonderful meal created from plot to plate! 👏🏻👏🏻 Amazing! 😍
Honestly I was as surprised as anyone that it turned out so nice - I'm certainly not renowned for my cooking! That's really kind of you - thanks Sarah.
Looks absolutely fab. 😊
It tasted nice too! Thanks Tamsin.
Hi Jane, what a lovely video, harvesting, cooking & eating, how wonderful ❤ thanks for sharing and take care 😊
It's so lovely to be able to pick and cook our own food! Thanks Christine.
Oooh that looked delicious! Fresh and nutrient dense.
I was genuinely surprised as to how tasty it was - I didn't even use oil, just water from the shared tap! Glad you liked it - thank you!
What a fabulous and inspiring video Jane 👍❤️
I'll have to show Doug and get him cooking lunch on the allotment 😂
Looks lovely Jane. Yum!❤
It was really tasty Greta! Thank you.
You did well with the harvest
I was really pleased!
Looked lovely jane such a good selection still available to make a hearty meal 🌱
The Gigantes beans gave it real substance - must grow more next year! Thank you.
Fantastic Jane. That looked gorgeous. That could be a challenge to other plotholders - come up with a dish using only what you have on the plot.
@@mycountrygardenchannel that’s a good idea - there would certainly be a few leek and potato cakes going around! Thanks Mags x
Jane this video is right up my street, absolutely loved watching this ❤️ I love seeing things go from growing in your garden to a fabulous meal in minutes 😊 you can't get fresher than that! X
That's really kind of you to say - it was a bit of a nightmare to film but I got there in the end! Thanks Gemma x
Brill video and content loved the cooking input as it shows us what we can cook with the produce we grow ❤
Absolutely - I had no idea how it would turn out but it was delicious. Have a go! Thank you.
@@JanesGrowingGarden I will do when I get something growing next season
Jane, that looks beyond wonderful! Love the way you put it together - a little bit of this and a little bit of that and it becomes your special secret recipe. I bet it smells as good as it looks and tastes. I just finished having a salad from my garden. I picked some okra this morning and will have more ready this week. The kale and collard greens are still looking good, too. I have my sweet potatoes in the garage curing now. Since we had a couple of nights near freezing, I picked the tomatoes that were almost ready and have them in the kitchen to finish ripening. It's no wonder fall is my favorite time of year.
It's my favourite time of year too! The kale added a lovely touch to this - I think if I didn't grow it I probably wouldn't think about buying it from the shops but we can all try something different in our gardens can't we! I'm yet to try okra - maybe one for next year ... Thank you.
It's 9.30am and I kinda want stew for breakfast now....😍
Ha ha ha - then my job is done! Thank you.
Only you could run out of gas on a cooking video 😂😂 however! That looks amazing jane! I've seen some of your cooking.. and this has raised the bar 😂 mikes expecting greater things ❤❤ 😂 welldone jane! Loved this!
Ha ha - I know - you should have seen the kerfuffle trying to get the new one to work, the whole plot nearly went up! It was delicious though - you could have knocked me down with a feather! Thanks Danny x
Your video quality is very good.. Carry on.
Thank you!
need to start keeping some salt and pepper up at the plot- what a fantastic stew!
You’re always welcome! Thank you x
That kale looks like Red Russian. Didn't grow it this year, but it's a tasty one.
I made a back yard grocery store dinner tonight. Leek, Chard, Tomatoes, Garlic, Habanadas and Herbs were grown....but I did add some rice and cheese which were not.....however, it was a lovely and delicious meal.
Yep - Red Russian - it's amazing how different the varieties can taste isn't it. Your meal sounds delicious - I think the fact the ingredients are so fresh bumps up the flavour no end! Thanks Robin x
Hi Jane, looked lovely, I do like to make a stew or stir fry from the garden.
The kale is Red (ursa) Russian.
Stir fries are definitely the go to during the summer - you can pack so much in! Yes Russian Kale makes sense - it's a stunner. Thanks Ady x
Was that a speckled Sussex and a copper black maran doing the chicken dance waiting for greens lol I used some leeks celery and a tiny carrot with added dirt given to me by a plot neighbor today happy gardening Richardx
Ha ha - you spotted Dottie, she's a barred rock and Junior - a black rock. They're a right old bunch of characters! Great that your plot neighbours are contributing! Thanks Richard.
Great video! That's as local as can be, and what you cut off can go straight into the compost, or on the floor if you lose some.
My season is pretty much over, I ate the last two green beans straight off the plant today and chopped it into the bed. I didn't think my peas were worth saving as they looked rotten, so I just left them in the bed earlier and they've sprouted and I had a tiny pea shoot snack too. Still got a few small carrots and one kohlrabi left to harvest, and several frozen herbs, but must buy some more ingredients for my stew/soup or what I'll make out of it.
I've been thinking it's not really worth the time and space to grow onions and garlic as they are quite cheap to buy, but to get the satisfaction of a fully own-grown meal, it definitely is.
I really didn't think we had that much left until I started to think about it - I was tempted to add some beetroot but I think it would have ended up a slightly different colour! I bet you're looking forward to that kohl rabi - I'm sure it will be treasured! Thank you.
What they all said! Ha Ha! Brilliant. Did you leave some for Mike? I bet the beans were creamy.
@@doverjaquesfineartphotogra4050 they were just delicious - and yes there was plenty left to share! Thanks Gina x
iooks iovely jane
@@stevendowden2579 I was pleasantly surprised! Thanks Steven.
Red Russian Kale
That's the one - thank you!
Hi Jane!
Still pulling vegetables out of the garden, you lucky puppy! Mine was a disaster....I wish I had BEDS...the bags just don't work for me. Love the outdoor cookery...looks delish. Just an aside...why do you sound so out of breath? You're making ME hyperventilate! Is your mike too close to your chest? I'll say this...its a goodun! I love fall anyway!
@@kretagraves8285 considering it’s been such a poor year we still have quite a bit to harvest! I do sound out of breath don’t I - maybe the mic is too close. Glad you enjoyed the cooking part - it would have been a lot easier if the first stove had worked! Thank you.
What a fabulous and inspiring video Jane 👍❤️
I'll have to show Doug and get him cooking lunch on the allotment 😂
I know what the pudding will be - Racers! Thanks Linda x
