were you able to eat it all in one sitting Max? :) The meals I make mix together about 1 and 1/3 cup dry food to about 2 cups (maximum) boiling water and they generally fit (barely) in a slightly lighter sandwich size zip lock. I definately like not needing to wash dishes afterwards.
Update 6 years later: Next time fold potatoes in half and use one of those long potato chip bag clips for in the middle. Then you can tear bag easier because you do not have to focus on keeping bag folded.
Awesome version I must say. Our good friend Al metal man recommended your channel. I do believe I will enjoy. I’ll be back to get to know you more. Take care ✌️
Thank you! 👍 Alan is a great guy and friend and I thank you for your Sub. I have many plans for this summer and maybe sooner if the snow melts off the lower slopes of the mountains and canyons. Welcome aboard Black River Rambler.
I just tried this for the first time a few weeks ago at a scout campout and well it’s awesome. I’ll have to try your Version. I used Spam in place of the vegetables. Bacon would be a great idea
Hey thanks for watching.. Tray the bacon flavored Spam... It is not bad... but the bacon bits works and will store (unopened) without refrigeration.. I like the bomb for a quick filling meal. It is really high in sodium though. 👍😀
Nice. I make mine with Ramen, 1 cup of instant rice and a can of chicken. Boil up the ramen, add the rice and chicken, cover, wait 5 minutes and man you got a huge lunch....
I use it for camping and or a meal break while hiking. You can use all kinds of shelf safe packaged meats, chicken, tuna, bacon, jerky and any others you can find.
I would not use it as a main staple on a thru hike...LOL You can put some spam, tuna or other shelf stable meats in it to add some calories and protein. Thanks for watching Jeff! 😀
I recomend cold soaking the vegetables for a couple hours so they rehydrate, i put them in a small container filled with water at lunch and then by supper time they are soft
Actually the veggies I use are finely ground and rehydrate quite well in the bag with the ramen and potatoes. I believe I would do as you suggested with standard dehydrated veggies... Many thanks for watching.
It was quite good and filling. Yes on the knife that bag was kicking my butt!.. Thing about the knife is I had a folder on my belt but it never occurred to me to use it....duh!! lol I have not tried pepperoni but I most certainly will. 😀
One thought- You could make a cozy for your Gatorade container and rehydrate it all in the same container, even with the freezer bag to line it like you had it. Just a suggestment =)
Actually a good idea. I just need to find a bit larger container. I just does not all fit in the Gatorade one I tried. It also expands to much to go in the 25 oz cook pot as well. Time for some junkyard engineering...lol
This kind of food being made is not the type that makes you hungry... lol That would be a center cut beef filet slowly grilled to perfection. That makes me hungry. 😛
Hike Camp well I’m away wilding camping next week so certainly going to give this a try and play about with different flavours. Thanks for the inspiration 👍😊👌
I put the potatoes in last so that the ramen and the dehydrated veggies re-hydrate faster if they have lots of water The potatoes seem to suck up all the water and you get some crunchy ramen...or you can put the potatoes in with the rest and wait longer to wait longer... lol
I prefer this version of the ramen bomb. Looks more appetizing and tastes great but I would have put the whole pack of mashed potatoes and a lot more Bacon 👌😋
On your question: The Ramen Bomb can be made in a pot or cup and eaten from a bowl. The bag is simply a convenience for carry, preparation, eating and carry out. Saves cleanup as well... no dishes to get dirty... 😎👌 Thanks for watching.
They were one of the many dehydrated veggies you can get online... I forget the name of these. It was a mixture of peppers, onions, tomatoes and oregano. Very good... ATVB ECT TREKKER
I used too much water for 1/2 a bag of the potatoes and the potato bag almost got the best of me, just use a knife... lol
That IDAHO life!
Reminds me of my college cooking days lol
Yes it kind of does doesn't it ... 😄
Looks like something worth trying 😁
I find the very good and filling and you can put all kinds of stuff in them, like tuna, chicken, kielbasa,.. Endless really.. Thanks AA
@@HikeCamp even more suggestions of things to try😁
@@agesadventures Thanks you sir!
Great video, looks so delicious 🤗🤗👍👍
It is very tasty, easy and filling... Thanks CA
Delish!! That is my fav hiking meal. Never thought about bacon bits before.
Glad you liked it... Some dislike all the sodium in it... but if one is not using it for a steady diet you will sweat it out on a good hike.
I've got a kid who loves mashed potatoes, bacon and ramen. This IS going to happen in our future. Thanks for a great idea.
Happy I could be of service... Hope your kiddo likes it...
"I'm gonna make lunch out on the patio out behind my house."
And I guess I'm going to watch you.
Ha..That's great... Thanks for checking it out!! 😀
I love that the ramen bomb is multigenerational
Thank you Mikey ... Yep even popular with old guys...LOL 😀
were you able to eat it all in one sitting Max?
:)

LOL. I was rather hungry Amos...
Finally bacon not spam! This is perfect.
It was quite good! Thanks for taking a look.

Thanks
Nice Pathfinder pot👍 You certainly kicked the bomb recipe up a few notches. Yummy!
Thanks Wild.... The ramen bomb is quite adjustable you can add so may different ingredients to it. Just a matter of taste.
Caught an older video of yours from four years ago, cool!
LOL and I still eat that stuff... Thanks Tony!
Very good video buddy. Looked like a great meal, oddly enough I’ve never tried the ramen bomb. Bacon bits are a must lol.
Thanks Jason!! It is quite good. Try it sometime when you are bored...lol Yes..Bacon bits are a must...lol It actually does add some bacon flavor.
love love love this.
The stuff you can do with the Ramen and potatoes is endless. Thanks for watching. 👍😀
Awesome version I must say.

Hike Camp yeah but taste great out in the backcountry
Nice, nothing like a good outdoor meal!
Thanks for watching... Sometimes I like to put in the packaged chicken or tuna.
Great video! Thanks 🤗 I’m always looking for camping meals. This looks delicious!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you

Sounds quite good.. Thanks for watching
I don't think my gut could handle a bomb like that 😂.
It is really quite good but it is a carb and sodium bomb...LOL
@@HikeCamp You could just put less seasoning packet in it carbs are good if your hiking though
a trail staple!
Looks nice! That would make a great meal out wild camping. 👍
I use it for camping and or a meal break while hiking. You can use all kinds of shelf safe packaged meats, chicken, tuna, bacon, jerky and any others you can find.
I just made a stuffing and potato one, I'M GOING TO STARVE ON THE AT

Thanks for posting your well done video. I like your insulated pouch.
Very easy to make those cozies. Just some Reflectex, duck tape. a a peace of stick on Velcro . thank you for watching.
I used either tuna or corned beef for the protein in mine, works and tastes great
Either of those would be great with the bomb... Thanks for giving it a watch...
It does look delicious, indeed.
It is quite good... Thanks for watching. 😀
Can't beat a ramen bomb for a not so healthy meal. Lol
Ture... But filling....LOL Thanks 77
A knife comes in handy opening stingy bags lol. Pepperoni is also good in those ramen bombs. Yours looks delish!

Hungry after watching this , I’m off to McDonald’s lol. Cheers Max 👍

Dang i never heard of that. But I’m going to try. Thanks. 👍🏻😎
Looks delicious 🤤
Its a good hiking meal... Lots of calories but high in sodium... Thanks for watching.
And at the end, everything is contained in the ziplock to pack it out and leave no trace.
Indeed and no pot to clean...😀 Thanks for checking it out!
Great video👍Have to give that a try when we are next out! ATVB to you Paula & Adrian.
Thanks!! 👍 The potato bag gave me some trouble but it came out OK and was consumed in it's entirety shortly after the camera was shut off. 😀
Hike Camp I bet it was, can’t beat potato, chicken and bacon, great combination!! 😋
You can use any of the shelf safe packaged meats in this. it is endless.
Hike Camp well I’m away wilding camping next week so certainly going to give this a try and play about with different flavours. Thanks for the inspiration 👍😊👌
I am honored! If you can get the Idahoan potatoes there, they are the best.
Good stuff!!
Many thanks for watching!!
Very good, wondering is there a reason you put the potato in later?
I put the potatoes in last so that the ramen and the dehydrated veggies re-hydrate faster if they have lots of water The potatoes seem to suck up all the water and you get some crunchy ramen...or you can put the potatoes in with the rest and wait longer to wait longer... lol
Call that a salt bomb
Oh it is that... Not something for someone with a sodium issue... LOL Thanks Mr. A
I prefer this version of the ramen bomb. Looks more appetizing and tastes great but I would have put the whole pack of mashed potatoes and a lot more Bacon 👌😋
It is quite good... Thanks for watching...
I'll try this one mext
Thanks for video. Could you please tell why you guys cook in a plastic pocket? Why not to use dish or big cup?
On your question: The Ramen Bomb can be made in a pot or cup and eaten from a bowl. The bag is simply a convenience for carry, preparation, eating and carry out. Saves cleanup as well... no dishes to get dirty... 😎👌 Thanks for watching.
Did you purchase the dehydrated vegetables? If so, what brand?
They are purchased. You can find them online by searching Zydeco chop chop (yes that is the brand name). Best wishes..
Indeed!😁
What size bag of potatoes? They come in more than one size... how many ounces in the bag?
I used the 4oz bag... Guess it would just depend on appetite...lol... Thanks for watching.
Why only 36 likes? It’s a great bomb.
Thank you sir... I think because people seem to like fresh actual cooking.... lol.
What do people with hypertension and Diabetes have to say about this? Good or bad?
I have HBP and have not had a problem with it.. Of course with Ramen moderation is key... Thanks for watching.
@@HikeCamp Good Answer! I have both and have had bypass surgery, and my physician and cardiologist would say "don't make it a habit"!
I would say great... as I grabbed my chest for the last time...
Ha!
😂
i still don't get why this needs to be done in a plastic bag. why not use the pot you used for boiling the water???
You can certainly use the pot to cook it. The bag just makes for easy clean up. Zip it shut and put it back in you pack. Only real reason.
Nice. What are those veggies that you used?
Did you dehydrate them yourself?
They were one of the many dehydrated veggies you can get online... I forget the name of these. It was a mixture of peppers, onions, tomatoes and oregano. Very good... ATVB ECT TREKKER
next time no music it too loud
I agree.. Thanks for watching.
