  • Brilliantly informative "A Current Affair" report on the odd tax history and business dealings of the world famous pentecostal Hillsong Church....or is it Hillsong Cult?
Brian Houston has alot of questions to Answer. $50 milion dollars, yet only $5 million apparently going to charity work.... another great report by ACA. You can als see last year's "Tommy Davis is missing" Scientology report on my channel.
The "Church" is about to open a new facility in Melbourne sometime this year. When it does I may make a video on it.
P.S. I love their music though, honestly who doesn't? Even got two of their better albums, "Mighty to Save" and "God He Reigns". Chalk it up to "a guilty pleasure".
This report is posted here under the "Fair Use" act:
"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."
    Report was originally broadcast: 18/2/2013.
Reuploaded because youtube cutoff the last 2 minutes(?)
ACA have done a "sequel report" which is more up to date for 2015:

I would rather go to a real true biblical church in a mud hut, then go here and listen to the doctrine of devils. The pastor has already said that islam and christianity pray to the same God. Christianity and Islam are vastly different. Allah is not the God of the Bible. Allah is the moon God. Listen to what Lord says in Revelations Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

The point is that the money is going to personal accounts and enriching the lifestyle of those inside the Church leadership. This makes it technically a "Profit organization" and therefore it should be taxed. In order to be eligible for tax breaks, you need to be a "Non-Profit" organization. Thay means NO personal revenue beyond a reasonable operational cut for work rendered.

Spot on... I'm ashamed I used to be in the word of faith/prosperity churches for 30 years. Thankfully I've woken up and gone straight back to scripture and the truth. People are so naive and follow personalities instead of God. I used to be like that, used to naively think everything I was taught from the pulpit was true. I grew up in that church so I didn't really know better until I got real sick and noticed things weren't right.

2,000 years ago there was a guy who owned nothing except the cloths on his back, the one time he is known to have used a mode of transport other than his own feet he borrowed that ride he never owned it and did not want to. He preached love and forgiveness and shunned greed and chastised greedy men.
I see all these Mega churches today and try to reconcile the huge difference between them and the man they claim to represent. There is no reconciliation they have nothing in common with him.

I've seen it in so many churches, same old same old, they don't fool me. Get rid of the stage, get rid of the lights, put the rock group out of site - then we'll see how many of them still want to play?? I went with some high school friends when I was 15, I was heavily into gigs and music, and they duped me into going to this "awesome"rock event with moshing etc. I was sooo disapointed as I realised they were trying to recruit me to Hillsong. The Father of my friend who drove us even asked me before I got dropped off home If i would convert, i'm Catholic btw. Anyway, When It came to the money buckets coming around they crapped on for about 15 min about how you should "give from the heart" etc. The buckets went around about 3 or 4 times and I felt uncomfortable because I didn't bring any money with me. At my local catholic church the Priest doesn't say anything about money, the baskets just get passed around and we sing a song.
Stupidly I wrote down my home and phone details to Hillsong. My mum would tell me that Hillsong would call constantly for Tithes during school hours. My mum got so mad one day and said to the Hillsong caller "My daughter is 15, and you are harassing her for money. If you call again I'll call the Police and report you for soliciting money off a minor" They never rang again. I now actually work right next door to Hillsong oddly enough, when there is a function on during the week, the traffic is horrendous. Takes you 30 minutes to drive less than a kilometer. I hate Hillsong. They should get taxed.

Tithing was a tax on Israel to help support the Levitical priests. Paul's teaching in the New Testament says to give according to your heart and conscience. You can give as much or as little as you want. The modern church has takin Christians back to the law instead of living under grace and freedom.

This principle is taught by Paul in the new testament. Pretty much a "pay where you are fed" kinda of thing. He is not requiring the Phillipians or other people he ministers to to pay a 10% tithe to him but rather give according to your heart. A percentage should not be the standard of giving. If you want to give a little then you can, if you want to give a lot then you can. Its up to you. We are not under the yolk of the law.

Looks like there is none. That's the problem with mega "churches"..sad people get duped by the experience versus read bible and discern.
I heard from a reliable source, my own church inherited 1/2 mill. I stopped tithing to them and give directly to missionaries, or ministries I can trust. It's still unto God. He knows.

1 Corinthians chapter 9 discusses the rights of an Apostle. Verse 14 says those who preach the gospel should receive their living from doing so.
My guess is Paul’s context was not saying we should have multi-millionaire pastors flying around in their G5s and everything else they acquire which gives the impression they are storing up their treasure here on earth.
Like someone said a long time ago, ‘I don’t know what porn is, but I know it when I see it’
Likewise, I don’t know what is too much, but I know it when I see it, and these mega ‘pastors’ fleecing their flock will be accountable to our Father in Heaven on the last day.

It was lovely to see that smaller church feeding those people. I always remember the old lady in the Bible at the Temple putting her penny in, all she had in. If I'm honest with myself it makes me ashamed with my giving, though many Christians may also feel this way, and would be convicted to do something earnestly. The Pharisees probably felt blessed with their tithing, however if one wants to tithe for the Lord im sure it will be a blessing. To give anything out of Love for the Lord, tithe or not a tithe, like that smaller Church was giving to the homeless, is not just 'giving', it is 'love'. Real love can be measured! Real Love for Christ is measurable as it says in the book of James.

Lucifer was the arch angel of music. He is smart and crafty and knows the word of God in a manner that we cannot fathom. Moreover, he minipulates the Word to confound man. To this day he constructs beautiful song and melodic spirit moving music, as it is literally what he was created to do. He the serpent is a man charmer; beguiling man from the beginning by twisting the truth and using his forked tongue to cover the eyes. The workers of iniquity will disguise themselves as angels of light and deceive the children of God. Sheep know the voice of their master and the children of God are known by their fruit!
Everyone, please pray for discernment and to know the truth in your heart.

I listen for scripture in the lyrics. If you don’t hear the name Jesus Christ or solid scripture references, then why is it considered “Christian “ music?🤔... Positive messages and motivational lyrics have no power to convict or encourage the soul. Always be aware the Satan was in charge of music in heaven before he was evicted. He’s very crafty with the music industry - Christian & secular. Be very discerning when listening to music as a Christian. Satan can present himself as an angel of light, some call this “dark light.” Everything and everyone attached to the name “Christian” is not of The Father.
Be discerning and be led by The Holy Spirit and the Holy Scriptures. Test EVERY spirit by The Spirit and see if it be The Spirit of God. Keep your👀 on Jesus and ask Him to Guide & Protect you. God bless you!!

True! Remember satan used scripture to tempt jesus on the mountain. Matthew 4:1-11 and has been using this trick for years. The deception has gone far deeper than you can imagine. Quoting means nothing without the authority from God to execute what his word says and also if the person truly belongs to God it eventually manifests itself. Now we have Christian Artists quoting scripture whilst using occult symbolism and hand gestures in their music, new age theories and subliminal messages in their music videos, let alone freemasonry garbage. It's tied into illuminati that the secular music industry worships. That's many of the major (even christian labels) to thank for that. I've worked in the music and film Industry for many years. I've seen enough to know they try to serve two masters because Record Labels want lots of money and often don't care who, they pull down the rabbit hole to get it You are spot on otherwise. Keep up that good fight.

I'd like to see the video where they taught that Cain killed his brother because he didn't tithe :). I highly doubt that was preached. Also the "must" tithing rule is prevalent in some Pentecostal churches I believe but many evangelical churches don't follow that. From Old and New Testaments were learn if we understand the Scriptures that nothing is by compulsion. God loves a cheerful giver. We are not compelled to do anything. It comes out of our love for Him that we do anything. That said, there is nothing wrong in believing God to bless you.

      Wanyina Vybes -
Are we sowing into good ground when we give ?
If we pause and consider, and ask the Lord; where best should our tithes and offerings be invested, in order to best please God, and so therefore apart from the portion of our giving that's necessary to maintain the daily running costs of our church, would not our giving be directed to look after those who are suffering because they don't have enough to eat, or have enough clothes to wear to keep warm and therefore not naked, or without shelter and a bed to sleep in, or other equally as important needs such as funding surgery, or dental work, or who are lonely and feel abandoned and rejected, and also, that we not overlook the poor in Israel in all this - and secondly, supporting the work of the Gospel being advanced, where the Bible is being preached, taught and discipled, to all who have never heard it, and the huge scope of evangelistic outreach and church planting, that this all entails.
If you have studied the breakdown of your church's annual financial statement, showing its incoming and outgoing funds, and you honestly still believe, (if Hillsong happens to be your church in this case), that it is fulfilling God's
prerequisites with integrity, then keep on tithing and giving to Hillsong.
Ask the Holy Spirit, to take away your peace, if you are not sowing into good ground, and to redirect you to where He wants you to give !
James 1v27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

No God dosent need money, we are under a new covenant of grace. Tithe is of the old covenant. Giving should be from the heart ,not as payment for salvation, nor a way to keep your salvation. It is a gift from God not of ourselves. To say otherwise, would be saying what Jesus did on the cross wasnt enough.

    • @jojoman4087
      @jojoman4087 6 лет назад +2

Tithing is basically a covenant that was given only to the Jews and basically since we are gentiles we are not entitled to do such things as well but we have the freedom to create a pact with the Lord or a promise (which most of the time are broken but because of his grace we are still alive) where anything that the Jews made can be practiced but not to be observed as an exchange for salvation since there is only one way which is in JESUS. And did you know that the tithing in the Bible is not limited to 10% it is even more than that if you could read Deutoronomy and Leviticus about the tithing`s requirements which I highly doubt if even anyone as of now can comply to the requirements will be in a very desperate need.....which is the reason that God told Paul that the tithing WAS of necessity but now give cheerfully because all of us except the Gentiles were now adopted to the family of God wherein we obtain the same birthright through His Son.....my say to this is that if the tithing was incurred without understanding the persons needs or explaining to the members what it really means then basically this is just another scam since men tend not to know the things that of GOD so they will take advantage of it. Because as for me I made a vow to the Lord to give my tithes according to how God has prospered me but if I didn`t earn anything and wasn`t able to give God will not kill me but instead He will give me a chance to make up for it next time...how can I say that because I`m still alive as of now and broken my vow many times but God is still very merciful for someone like me........and above all if you would look at Paul he didn`t got his earnings or livings just on the church but basically bexcause he also worked as a tent maker.....so serving the Lord in the ministry that require money does not excuse anyone even a pastor from working to have enough funds for God`s work..........but if what they are doing is even neglecting their responsibility on the government aspect of accountability then basically they are hiding something because as for my church (Bible Baptist Katipunan Cebu) are showing all of the expenses and funds that was raised and to whom it will be given so if you want God to bless you, you need to be transparent to remove doubts from people and at the same time what will you be convicted of? that money is to be given to the ministry any way and would not profit you but God so if you feel any guilt or contempt then you already transgressed against the Lord because the Bible said it so ""....the truth shall set you free...." Thank you and goodevening!!

Mary..The law came after Abraham because Abraham lived by faith. He gave by faith. He gave tithe to Melchizedek and guess what all that cattle and other things He got from the kings were taken away to Heaven.. Melchizedek did not have an earthly kingdom or palace... Every gift given appears before God just like Cornelius was told. For you to benefit from the taxes you pay to your country you must pay taxes. Tithe and Offering are taxes in the Kingdom of God and you do benefit spiritually and physically.

Right....and they are all playing on the biblically uneducated hearts of their parishioners. If folks would read their bibles for themselves, rather than listening to the doctrines of demons, they would give their money to those truly in need....not simply line the pockets of the "pimps in the pulpits". Are all preachers/pastors and the like out to take others for a ride.?? No...certainly not. However, when a "leader" has a fleet of luxury automobiles, mansions, designer clothing and more, while there are those who are without food, shelter and/or clothing within their congregations, then there is a problem, a very evil problem. Sure, the Lord blesses whom he chooses...but when the parishioners are told that the reason they are suffering, that they cannot feed themselves or their children, is because they have not planted a large enough financial "seed" to the Lord...that is spiritual ransom.
If you have a heart to give, give it directly to those who need it. Food to the hungry, warm clothing to those with nothing on their backs, to the homeless shelters and shelters for abused women...etc.

Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live on.”the new testament does talk about tithing.

    • @woodcal16

Tim Kidney Jesus lived his entire life under the law. Paul was the apostle to the gentiles and wrote to them in his letters. The gentiles had no knowledge of the law and little knowledge of Jewish Scriptures, customs or culture, yet Paul never taught a thing about tithing. Paul taught about giving.
Many use the verses in Malachi to support the errant tithing doctrine, but Malachi was really addressing the Levites and their illegitimate use of what was brought into the storehouse. If you compare other prophesies of that era you will find God actually crediting the Israelites with compliance in their giving of offerings. Tithing was a principle under law, and we live under grace. What we give is strictly between the individual and God (Holy Spirit).
Even this woman was not giving a tithe so your example is useless in establishing tithing under the new covenant.

    • @williamcook9009
      @williamcook9009 9 лет назад +18

Tim Kidney Please show me Book, chapter and verse in the New Testament that it declares that NT saints have to or are required to tithe. Like Tom Stewart says, that Jesus lived under the Law up until He died on the Cross. So therefore He spoke under the tithing requirement of the OT. After His resurrection and ascension, and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit the New Testament Church was born....and I don't see any mention by the apostles about tithing, except to give with a cheerful spirit. So we give because we give as the Lord prospers us, with cheerful hearts, not under a curse or compulsion, force or coercion. If the New Testament Church is to keep the Old Testament Law requirement of tithing...then we must use the practice of circumcision, or better maybe stoning people to death for adultery or homosexual acts. Maybe we can all have several wives and concubines like the OT Patriarchs had. Just saying!! No....I think the NT saints give out of love for the Lord being a matter of the heart and not a commandment.

    • @colliric
      @colliric  9 лет назад +5

Tim Kidney In this scripture quote, the rich people were "Tithing" their usual tithe and "large amounts". The Poor widow however, gave what she could out of charity. She didn't have the money to "tithe", but she gave it anyway because she was giving out of Charity, which in the old definition of the word means "Love of God and Brethren/Brother". This verse stands against tithing rigidly in favor of giving out of the charity of your heart "everything you can give".

The poorest children get equipment for their school. When society betray Hillsong is there to help. It cost money. I attended a Hillsong family church for one year and it was great. It is not a perfect church because there are no perfect churches as there are no perfect people. But it was a good church. I can’t tell if that matter has changed since I was there. But it was good.

You should be hearing the context of the pastor's message and you can have a clear understanding rather than jumping to conclusions. Jesus spoke about the old lady who she gave what she had compared to the Pharisees's giving and showing off. Hillsong purchased our church and then painted the church and its windows black, it created a real spooky and dark atmosphere not spiritual or up lifting at all. I'm glad I went to another church down the road were God's word and laws and prophesy is preached. So Glad we never went back. The only reason the young go is for the excessively loud music.

Is it so difficult to just have a church that wants to talk about Jesus and not be flashy with lights and music and DVDs. Can't we have a church where people actually talk during the sermon and ask questions so they can improve their faith instead of just listening to the pastor for an hour and then walking out not answering any questions? Can we have a church that gives and secret instead of in public? can we please have a pastor in a church then wants to give a spiritual meet and not just continuous spiritual milk? These things that I'm asking for all simple to give and should be part of a church that is genuinely bent on pursuing Christ. So I guess the question is why isn't it around? Have We Become that ineffective but this is the best we can do?

Generosity is a fruit of a Christian Life and not a formula to extract blessings from God. I believe that Christians should be generous and support God's work but we should not be required to any particular church. I would recommend giving as the Holy Spirit leads you including helping those in need directly. Taxing churches is a very bad idea , instead we should shrink government, lower taxes and free up more income for people and churches to truly help those in need. The tremendous tax burdens placed on people these days is imoral and government's have a record of being very waistful, corrupt, and often spend our money for imoral purposes. This is the equivalent of extortion

Yes indeed. The governments of the world are the cause of the big problems and nowadays the lawyers and accountants who produce absolutely nothing. Most pollies are failed lawyers yet they cannot make solid laws, only laws to keep their bro's in business at $600 per hour. I cannot kowtow to those utter morons and I never will. Innocent until proven guilty. Not in Oz.

Wake up folks. The Bible tells us us that the road to Heaven is narrow. So if you're following crowds of people into a church then you're probably NOT on that narrow road. God has NO interest in entertaining us with bands and concerts and tours. God is NOT concerned with our comfort - ONLY in our character. In fact, the Bible gives specific instructions on how to witness for God, and that's door to door, face to face. These churches that claim they are trying to win souls by becoming gigantic and using media are completely ignoring that. The media IS NOT about GOD. GOD says, " I am NOT of this world, and he who is of this world is NOT of me." So how, then, does ANY mega church do GOD'S work? They call it a "worship experience". No different than a "cheese product" - meant to give the illusion. Don't lose your soul following along like cattle.

What amazes me about these kind of videos is they never talk about what the Church had ('earnings') 30 years ago when they started. What the Church went through during the early stages. You see the Glory but you don't know the Story ....Shut Up and do something with your life and leave the Church alone. And these people on the interview talking about how the Pastors travel round the world lavishly, are just simply jealous they are not living that life.

It is good that hillsong appeals to the young god bless em but one of the reasons my parents and i stopped attending church was because of the music.Dont forget about the elderly they are part of the church too so throw a couple of classic hymns in for them, respect the elders. It would be sad to see another division in the church, old vs young, God loves everyone so include and appeal to everyone it does'nt hurt to sing amazing grace or down in the river to pray once in a while.

Totally agree! I'm a very young 50 and I want to hear some of the old hymns....so much so, I want to find a christian church with no rock band and just sing hymns of worship. Each to their own but that's what makes me feel closer to Jesus and God ♥

"The Hills are alive, with the sound of cash tithes..." This style of religious hypocrisy is the same as that which Jesus condemned over and over. Read your bible if you dare.
