      Thor isnt God (I'm Christian). This story would be a great episode in the Avengers series. I totally was picturing Hemsworth and Hiddleston for this story. Yeah just angry Chris bent out shape and Tom reluctantly babysitting Kids. Can totally see it now. (Also my God converted the viking's, so yeah, Jesus for the win take that hammer boy. Cant kill a giant please. David, rock, sling.)

    • @michaelsommers2356
      @michaelsommers2356 5 лет назад +1

      @@codybarnes1531 Goliath was not a frost giant, he was just a larger-than-average man. A Philistine. He also didn't stand a chance against David. Remember that scene in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in which Indiana Jones is running through town and runs across a big guy dressed in black and waving a big sword around? Jones simply shot the guy. That is how D vs. G worked.

    • @DrossPedantic

    this is one of my favorite buddycop moments for Thor and Loki for me, great video! OF NOTE: as a nod to Loki's cunning, in the version I read he wasnt first to go. he saw the challenge, got the gyst of what was happening, but was still hungry and wanted to feast at the table. After he lost his challenge he essentially remarked on how he didnt care, he'd gotten the meal he wanted anyway.
    thanks so much for the fun video!

    • @ZombieChimpanzee
      @ZombieChimpanzee 6 лет назад

      in any version, Loki's still the smartest when picking his challenge, because he still gets a meal svn if he loses. he goes first, last, in the middle, doesn't matter Loki gets his food.

  • @Mark-nh7zg
    @Mark-nh7zg 6 лет назад +1

    But sometimes giants were depicted as normal sized.
    It's important to remember that people back then didn't view mythology as a consistent, single canon like we tend to. What we have is an anthology gathered from many different people over a large area, compiled by people who weren't even Norse and may or may not have had a bias in both culture and religion when interpreting these myths. What this Norse tribe believed giants to be may not necessarily have been what that Norse tribe did.

    • @mysss29
      @mysss29 7 лет назад +3

      Hmm...well, DnD is more or less supposed to let you role-play through Norse myth-like scenarios! Intentionally, via targeting Tolkien-esque events, and just through trying to let players be clever and/or badass and manly, it all sort of leads to the same place. ^_^

      I imagine your chances may be better than you think:
      - You have at least Hera on your side (considering her own history with Apollo and Hephaestus),
      - You're spreading tales of wisdom of the ancient gods, so Athena will also support you,
      - I imagine Zeus is just really amused that you decided to go after another God of Thunder instead of him. He may finally have let Hera and Athena convince him to force Apollo and Hephaestus to back down. Those two are probably sulking in a corner on Mount Olympus now.
      And in case things still go wrong: perhaps Hera and/or Athena will have mercy on you, and turn you into an immortal tortoise to help you avoid the wrath of the other gods...
      On another note, fun video, as always. :-)

    1) Thor replaced his kids (tiny goats) with kids (tiny humans)
    2) A giant king was just chilling in a random cave for no reason (sounds legit)
    3) Said giant king was super intimidated by Thor and yet still wanted to hang out with him (Yeah, THAT happened. 🙄)
    4) Giant king performed the norse mythology equivalent of trying to make a 'bank robbery social experiment' youtube video. Multiple times. And GOT AWAY WITH IT!? (HOW!?!?)
    5) Instead of taking Mjolnr to the bag of provisions, Thor just tried to kill the giant king dude, because that would somehow solve the 'starving and all our food is in a bag I can't open' problem. (Which is worthy of a 'I Am Very Smart' post...)
    6) Dael basically just pointed out how Thor made a fool of himself and Thor's response is the Navy Seal Copypasta.

    This story is literally the reason that, if I ever got a cat, I'd name it Jörmungandur ("Jörmi" for short). I own a Bearded Dragon (His Holiness), two geckos (Kami and Kyu) and a Royal Python (Svafnir) and I'm saving the name of the Midgard Serpent for a cat I may never own or, more likely, never be allowed to name :P
    (my second option on naming a cat is Sith, after the Cat Sìth of Gaelic folklore/mythology, because a) it's pronounced similarly to "she", so irony if the cat was a male, and b) Star Wars :P Moral of the story? I do not give pets normal names)
