This was filmed at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and all its former students (including me) were eagerly awaiting this video! So many Toronto musicians were involved in this as doubles and in the orchestra ect. We are having fun watching the show, picking out our friends in the shots... and watching the bad synching! Congrats to all the string players involved!

Lol...actually Ellen said she never knew how to play the violin but she took some lessons for the movie and it was really hard for her! They had a real violinist who was a body double for Ellen in some scenes 🤣🤣🤣
Brett and Eddy physically felt that burn, when Vanya's violin playing got dissed LMAO
Ellen can't play. She can play guitar though, so she's not exactly new to stringed instruments, hence why her "faking it" wasn't as bad as other actors.

The actress actually took violin lessons to make it seem more realistic. Her stunt double did some of the more complicated parts.

The reason that scene where the first chair was being really rude to her was there is because the whole thing about Vanya is her whole life she was told she was just ordinary. This is further emphasizing the fact that she isn’t special. Only later it’s found out that without the pills she was kept on she’s actually extraordinary.
