One of many~ I can’t thank you enough. Huge emphasis on the “Don’t panic.” LOL. I also work on a few pieces at once and have been avoiding on fixing the ones with sticky spots. You gave great pointers though and make the process seem less troubling than I thought. Today’s the day I fix them! Thank you🎨💖
Thank you for having such a compassionate and soothing intro to this wonderful tutorial. I was very panicked and you calmed me right back down and taught me how to confidently fix a sticky situation.
I put resin on glass table,2 weeks past but it is stil tacky not sticky. But in the bottle where i mixed resin was dried after 24 hours . What should I do with my tacky work??? Put on it new resin mixture without sanding ?
I just wanna say that I love these videos! Sometimes videos made by the company can come across overly manufactured or make it seem like nothing ever goes wrong with a product. These videos are great at not only addressing what can go wrong but also how to fix them. And they also talk to you like you're an actual consumer and not like you're someone watching an ad for the product.
Just want to let anyone reading these comments that this video was the most helpful video I've watched. I've had each of these issues. I always come back here to check. Just thought I'd put my two cents in just in case you are panicking or hesitant to do exactly what she told you to do. DO EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAYS!!! 😊. She will also get back to you quickly if you leave a question. I am just very appreciative to have people like her around when I need them and when I was in a panic. Don't Panic! It works! 😊🐇💗
I found the video very helpful. I was making a piece to gift but could not do so because of tacky resin and since I was traveling I didn't have time to fix it. But I'm grateful for the detailed step-by-step guide Provided in the video for different resin sticky situations.
I wish I knew this before throwing away some good pieces. Even after sanding I panicked with the scratches and thought it was too destroyed to fix. But I’m glad I know now for future dilemmas 😃
hello may i know how to sanding resin? i am making a resin art. but turns out that some part is thinner than other part. and now it is fully dried. may i know how to fix them? i hope anyone can help me🥺🙏🏻
so glad to hear someone say the issues from to much colorant. I try to tell people but just get told it wrong constantly and that could not possibly have effected their resin.. art resin is my favoritethoughstruggling to find a supplier right now. miss you !!
THANK YOU!!!!! I have had tacky and the mixed finish problems before and DID NOT know about NOT SCRAPING as you pour!! Soooo obvious now. Thanks for showing all the steps!
You should always finish your mix in a separate clean cup and scrape the sides of the first cup into the second cup and finish mixing for another 2-3 minutes. She isn't even giving proper mixing instructions
You should also NEVER add a new layer over uncured epoxy as it will seep through and make someone sick. If there's sticky spots scrape/sand them out or strip the piece, it will never cure and is extremely toxic.
@@JuiceBoxx_627 Yes, you can certainly measure in separate cups then pour into another to mix. It is always important to ensure you are mixing 1:1 and ensuring you are getting all the resin and hardener fully incorporated.
@@JuiceBoxx_627 When faced with wet resin that didn't cure, it is important to scrape off all of the wet resin as Joanne demonstrates in this video. Once the loose wet ArtResin has been removed, you can then go ahead and pour on a second layer of perfectly mixed ArtResin. You are correct in noting it is important to remove the wet resin since it will never cure and will end up seeping out, but I am happy to tell you that ArtResins formula is non-toxic 🙂
I can't thank you enough, I got into resin a couple months ago, and I started working on bigger pieces like ashtrays and have noticed, the alchol inks don't cure right. I also had the sticky issues #2 that you went over in this video. I was panicking that after 2 days my mold was still sticky! Now I'm not.
I was watching a couple of videos how to get rid of sticky resin because my projects always get sticky even after curing for 24 hours. And now id finally find the one video id like to try to fix my projects. Thank you! I hope my projects could still be saved
Thank you for your help. I just poured two beautiful "tacky" plaques. Thanks to your instructions, I did not panic, I know how to handle the situation.
Hi. I have started working with resin for the first time, I have seen a lot of tutorials so that I could work with it. I made some mistakes as doing a large project 😱 and first the top section was brilliant , it was clear and looked really good, I then did some sides and it ran over the top piece which then left sticky patches, and have to admit I panicked and thought I had ruined the whole project, but seeing this video I can have some hope of recovering the whole thing. Thank you from a beginner 😊
I'm new to resin as well and seeing how forgiving it is and how most issues can be fixed makes me a little less nervous about completely messing up and wasting product
Thank you so much for this, I made a birthday for a loved one with resin and I noticed it was tacky all through and thought I was going to have to throw it out and restart, but now I do not need to!
Thank you so kindly for this video. I get so discouraged when my pieces are tacky (usually jewelry or key chains) and feel it’s ruined. You give me hope. 🙏🏼🥰👌🏼
If you follow her saying it's ok to put resin over uncured resin it will make someone sick. The uncured layer will never cure and will seep out and make the person very sick as uncured epoxy is extremely toxic.
What a wonderful helpful video! I've not yet begun my resin crafting as I am new to it and wanted to watch as much as I can to try to avoid many of the pitfalls. I don't expect it will go perfectly, but had I found sticky spots or tacky or uncured resin I would have felt most disheartened. This video was so well explained and so well shown that I feel confident that if/when it happens to me I will know how to fix the problem without panicking. Thank you so much. I'm very grateful. 💜🙏
One of the best videos i have ever watched on RUclips. Your suggestion "Dont Panic" was way more encouraging, the three situations and their solutions were well explained. I have tried my resin for first time and they r sticky and i left them because i didn't know what to do to settle them. Thanks for your video explanation, i will try to fix them now . ❤
I am someone trying resin for the very first time and I am really thankful that I came across this vedio. Thank you so so much for sharing this ❤ you saved me.
I was working on a beautiful mold a few days ago and filled the molds with water to make sure I was making enough resin mix. I thought I measured it right but was dead wrong. When I poured the resin I was short a little more than 1/4". I freaked and rushed to make a new batch to fill it but it had been over 2 hours so I didn't know what to expect. Well 3 days later the new pour hadn't cured yet and I tried everything to heat the cast but no success. After watching you video I braved it and spent about 3 hours removing the last pour. Wow what a headache. Anyway the remaining cast is sanded and still a little sticky but the worst is done. Taking a break for today and starting again tomorrow. Wish me luck on completing it. Even though I'm frustrated (because I'm a newbie and wanted to give this as a gift) I am grateful to you for giving me the inspiration to go for it. I know now my rushing caused me to make the wrong mixture so in the future I will be extremely careful in mixing. Thanks for sharing...
We have all been there at one time or another, the good news is we learn from all of our experiences-good and bad. The better news is you can now go ahead and pour on your next carefully mixed layer and complete your project. Good luck :)
Thank you so much for this video! I just made my very first resin tray and it was tacky.... now not only do I know why but I also know how to fix it! Yes!!
Here it is two years later and I found you by searching in RUclips for How to Fix resin mistakes. You solved my problem. I’ve been using this brand, 💜 ArtResin of for nearly 3 years and had not make any mistakes. I’m a rock painter and use Heart Resin/Hardner this whole time. My mistake: I use a very small amount (1/4 cup). equally from both bottles. It’s enough for 4 or 5 medium size rocks. First, I had put in 1/4 (I use measuring spoons) of one of the bottle. I put the lid back on. I got distracted for a bit. When I returned, I couldn’t remember which bottle I used. I had a 50/50 chance of using the right one. I wasn’t confident. Lol. 12 - 14 hrs later, the rocks were a sticky mess! I guessed wrong! Aaarrrgghhh. I wasn’t sure if there was a solution. In fact, I doubted it. The second way you said to do it if your project was just sticky, not runny. The solution was to just redo the project corrected. IT WORKED!! This morning, all was great. My rocks project was saved! Over dramatic, I know, but for me it was. I don’t know if you read comments, especially when this video is 2 years old. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 💕💋
I cannot thank you enough for this! I did my countertops and the temperature dropped that night. It got too cold to properly set, and I thought my countertops were ruined!
Thank you so very MUCH!!! I believe what I did was I mixed too much paint and did not know it!!!! THANKS AGAIN!! This was my first time working with resin so I should do better next time!!!
Thank you so much, You made my day. One of my first projects was a narrow wooden tray That I put Beautiful Jeweled Butterflies on, and after several days it was tacky. Luckily I liked it so much that I kept it. I just carefully measured & mixed more resin and just repoured it and put it to dry. thanks again
Thank you so much for this video and information. I was on my third coat because of bubbles and uneven coverage on the edges of my canvas. I don't know what I did wrong, but I have a runny mess of uneven resin! In tears (my first commission piece that came out beautiful 😭😫) I actually had 2 canvas' I resined at the same time. So it's obvious I mixed something wrong. I ran off the runny resin with hopes of it drying by morning. After seeing this video, I highly doubt it will cure, but now know I can probably fix the problem! Thank you again for this wonderful video! I'm going to "try" to 😊! If I do fix it...I will come back here and let you know! 🐇💗
That's great to hear! Resin is actually pretty forgiving, so I'm glad you know the steps to take. Remember, any wet, liquid resin needs to be removed or else it might seep out from under the fresh coat. Good luck - let us know if you need any help!
I am glad that I ran across your video because it helped me so much finally somebody tells you exactly what to do and it was so simple thank you great job
Thank you for this. I got in too big of a hurry last night and today its sticky and a bit runny. I'm glad you posted this video so I can fix it. And next time...I will not be in such a rush!!!
What great information. I have just started using resin. I made a geode 1 year ago and it's still tacky and some runny spots. I will try your methods and see how it turns out. Thanks Leta from Canada
You're very welcome! Resin is generally pretty forgiving. Remember - if it's wet/liquidy, try to remove as much as you can. If it's dry-tacky (like the sticky side of tape) you can pour right over with a fresh coat :) Good luck!
The MOST helpful video I've watched. I'm very careful about measuring and stirring, I've even put a small heater on my shelf to increase the temp in the room, warmed both components before mixing and as one brand suggested, put the mixed resin in a small dish of warm water to warm that up and get rid of bubbles. I don’t ever have liquidy resin but have a real problem with sticky spots. Me being the cheapskate I am, though, I carefully scrape the resin out of the container not to waste any, and i think this is likely my problem, even though I'm so careful about the initial stir. I'm going to do another batch to try to fix some [many]! Any ideas about float of flowers and greenery used for bookmarks? I've tried putting them in the molds before pouring any resin, and pouring a layer before adding them and then another layer. Either way, have to push them down into the resin several times, and they still rise to the surface.
This video was the best ever! I watched it a month ago and it saved my very first commissioned piece! I couldn't believe I could have done that. The resin had not hardened at all. So I scraped it all off per this video. I was sick inside thinking I had totally ruined it. I am thrilled to tell you after I re-resined it, it came out perfect! Yaayyy! Today I found that 6 out of 38 pieces I resined yesterday was still tacky today. I really don't understand how that happened when the other pieces came out perfect. I resined them again tonight. Came back here to make sure I did the right thing. Seems that I did. Fingers crossed, but I certainly feel more confident that it will turn out all ok, especially after my first resin disaster a month ago. Thank you again for your wonderful explanations!
I still weigh my resin I just choose ounces. It's still more accurate to put The resin on a scale than it is to eyeball one oz on a measuring cup. So the people who Are giving tutorials and telling us to weigh our resin just need to be more specific and clarify you are measuring by volume
I had no idea that a cold environment could prevent curing! I’ve been leaving my works outside so the smell dosnt bother my family but it’s cold in the KY winter! Hopefully I can leave them in the garage now! Thanks!
In the case of inaccurate measuring and mixing of resin or colorants, unfortunately the resin may not cure any harder. One possible solution though is to carefully measure and mix another batch of ArtResin to pour on the bendy piece to add strength and support.
Hi, i’d like to ask about bendy resin 😕 I’ve tried like 6 times but my resin has always been bendy, it’s not sticky it’s just bendy and not hard enough. Mind replying? ❤️
Bendy resin can happen for a few reasons: short cure time, mixture being off, and thin pours to name a few. Here is our full blog on why it happens and how to prevent it: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/how-to-prevent-bendy-resin
Great video, thanks for that! Just curious though, when you say tacky, is that the same as sticky? I've got a piece that has some pretty thick resin, and the very top of it is left sticky. now it has finger prints and dust debris build up. Should I just clean it with the alcohol, then sand it with 80 grit, and do another pour after the bad part is gone?
Yes exactly! Sticky=tacky :) You'll want to remove any debris and poor over it. If is sticky there will be no need to sand, the next layer of resin will adhere right to it!
If you are using ArtResin please send us in a photo and what your process is with your piece to support@artresin.com We will be glad to help you troubleshoot.
One thing that might help is to be sure that your mixture does not have any ribbons in it. Sometimes stirring slower and longer will help that problem.
There are a lot of little secrets that you can learn along the way. Check out all of our ResinTips and informative videos. Also have a look at our FAQ's and blogs on our website for even more answers! www.artresin.com.
I use a cheap Walmart heating pad directly under (except for a protective cover over the pad) leave it on high or medium from half hour before pour (I usually pour on wood planks about 3/4 in thick max) and until fully hardened (time depends on thickness of pour) thank you for your additional tips I can use if and or when needed.
All artists who commented below: Don't give up! If you have had problems with your artwork, please try to fix it. She is AMAZING! Please try to fix your artwork. I am going to try. I wish I had not thrown out soooo many! Good Luck!
Well that was amazing! Going over all the steps and potential pitfalls was perfect. Now, I have to fix my sticky tabletop. The obvious victim of scraping the sides while pouring.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I kept thinking I was doing it all wrong..was just about to give but your video helped me. I'll give it a go again and hope for the best
If the resin countertop has cured, you can sand the surface to expose the bubbles then pour a fresh layer of resin overtop. The sanding will open up the bubbles, the new layer will fill in the voids. Once you pour your new layer, be sure to hit it with your torch to zap out any bubbles that arise. Here is a blog that explains bubbles: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/tipstopreventresinbubbles?_pos=1&_sid=4321248ce&_ss=r
I loved the video on sticky resin. I made a bunch of straw toppers and they out sticky. What I tried, because the pieces are small, I use clear, high gloss nail polish and then put them under the UV light. Thank you for your great information. Joan, Baltimore, MD
I use Art Resin. The other day I was measuring the resin from brand new bottles. After i added the correct half/half, the levels of my resin and hardner were different as though I used more out of one then the other. ?????
Hi Karyn, be sure that you are measuring 1:1 by volume, not by weight. Also, make sure you let the resin settle into the cups for a minute or so to ensure any that has clung to the sides will settle down for an accurate measurement.
Hi, We care about our customers and we want to be transparent about what safety precautions are needed when working with ArtResin. A respirator is not required when working with ArtResin, when used as directed, in a well ventilated area. We do recommend wearing gloves when working with ArtResin because it's really sticky :) When it comes to safety precautions, a Safety Data Sheet is your go-to reference no matter what product we’re talking about. The ArtResin SDS is available on our website. No matter what your safety questions are, you will find the answers in that document. www.artresin.com/pages/sds
Hi there and thank you for the great advice. I made a new wooden handle for a kitchen whisk and used a 2 part epoxy resin to attach the metal part of the whisk into a hole in the wooden handle. The epoxy resin consist of 2 attached tubes that you press and it is suppose to eject the same ammount of resin and hardener but the one tube seemed to be a little clogged and i suppose the 1:1 ratio wasn't accurate. The resin has a "vague sense of tackiness" so i am sure if if cover it with your second option it should be ok. Thanks again, Francois
I love your videos so much they have helped me on my resin journey. Please never stop your videos.❤ I do have one question tho, as you were pouring the resin why didn’t you put a mask on? Isn’t there a risk of toxic fumes?
We take safety seriously, thats why we developed ArtResin! Unlike many epoxy resins on the market, ArtResin is non toxic and does not produce fumes or VOCs, it is safe for home use without a respirator when used in a well ventilated area. Here is a blog with some more information: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/what-safety-precautions-should-i-take-when-using-artresin?_pos=4&_sid=56f75cba6&_ss=r

What great information. I have just started using resin. I made a geode 1 year ago and it's still tacky and some runny spots. I will try your methods and see how it turns out. Thanks Leta from Canada
After making it and it is wet....can you add more hardener to fix it or does it just stay wet and messy?
That must be the BEST job getting to play w/resin making awesome creations for this company!😊 That's what I'd love to do!
Thank you sooo much! You're a great instructor, especially for newbies!!
Thank God for this video....panic attack is over! Thank you so much!
Thank-you so much for all this great information. One of my mistakes was measuring by weight instead of volume. Thanks again!!!
Hi. I mix 5ml and 5 ml
So thts wrong
Thankyou so much for your help in rectifying sticky spots..ill try mine again today..x
You're very welcome! Resin is generally pretty forgiving. Remember - if it's wet/liquidy, try to remove as much as you can. If it's dry-tacky (like the sticky side of tape) you can pour right over with a fresh coat :)
Good luck!
*Bravo* et merci pour toutes ces précieuses informations. Je partage dans mon groupe car je reçois beaucoup de questions à ce sujet. 👏🏽😉
Thank you so much for all the important information you provided!
So glad you found the video helpful :)
Thank you for this information. I thought I was going to have to through away one of my best acrylic pours. Now I have hope!
Does the 6% additive apply to any additive? Mica, powdered milk etc, as well as liquid colorant? Thanks!
You are super easy to listen and learn from, a rarity on YT. Thanks!
Thanks for watching :)
Thank you so much for this...I wish a saw it a few years ago 😆 very helpful
Thank you so much i was worried that my piece won't be fixed until i watched your video you're a life saver ❤
so glad it helped :)
Lol and here I was weighing my resin because I thought it was more accurate. It’s my baking skills coming back to haunt me lol
I was doing the same thing
Ha, me tooo!!! Well atleast we know now🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've seen so many people on youtube doing it. I'm shocked so many people are doing tutorials and doing it incorrectly.
I still weigh my resin I just choose ounces. It's still more accurate to put The resin on a scale than it is to eyeball one oz on a measuring cup. So the people who Are giving tutorials and telling us to weigh our resin just need to be more specific and clarify you are measuring by volume
@@ShelleyAK That's a good tip. Thank you.
I had no idea that a cold environment could prevent curing! I’ve been leaving my works outside so the smell dosnt bother my family but it’s cold in the KY winter! Hopefully I can leave them in the garage now! Thanks!
I’m assuming you’d treat soft resin (from poor ratio measurement) the same was as a sticky resin - sanding it first then applying a second coat?
In the case of inaccurate measuring and mixing of resin or colorants, unfortunately the resin may not cure any harder. One possible solution though is to carefully measure and mix another batch of ArtResin to pour on the bendy piece to add strength and support.
Omg I pray #2 works for me. I almost threw my project in the garbage. Thank you so much for sharing this

This was so helpful! I thought I completely ruined one of the best pieces I had made. Thanks for sharing with us
So glad it helped!
Great info.thank you I learned a"little something"
I'm building a kayak but this sure helped me. Thank you , your a sweetheart.
@@Artresin Much appreciated, thanks a lot!
Thank you for sharing this important tips about Resin .it is very much appreciated
super, thanks! just when I started to panic...
Thank you so much ! This is the only video that talked about a cure for runny uncured resin !
so glad you found it useful :)
ok my art is still tacky i tried remixing the resin and it didn't cure again D:
If you are using ArtResin please send us in a photo and what your process is with your piece to support@artresin.com We will be glad to help you troubleshoot.
One thing that might help is to be sure that your mixture does not have any ribbons in it. Sometimes stirring slower and longer will help that problem.
You are so much fun to watch! You are so beautiful and have such a winning smile that lights up the room! Thank you for your elegant tutorials.
GORGEOUS!❤
Yes i have the tacky resin, and the solution makes so much sense…. Thanks so much this seriously is a great video❤
@4:30 before she FINALLY starts to show how to fix it !
This was so helpful!!!! I've been frustrated with Resin. It is a love / hate relationship.
There are a lot of little secrets that you can learn along the way. Check out all of our ResinTips and informative videos. Also have a look at our FAQ's and blogs on our website for even more answers! www.artresin.com.
Don’t panic, Don’t panic, Don’t panic 😋
I needed that 😂 and the way she said it!
This video was so helpful. I’m feeling so light. Was distressed about the sticky resin since 2 day’s.
“you should use volume rather than mass”
“if you use 1 ounce of resin you wanna use 1 ounce of hardener”
???
I guess I don't understand why you have ??? .
math
Thank you for your very helpful tutorial. I was panicking and now I hope I’ve fixed my tacky in some spots situation.
Fantastic! Mission accomplished :)
I ended up just throwing it away 😭
Thank you thank you. You saved my hand painted tumbler, Christmas gift.
Good Lord you take entirely too long to get to the point!
Good Luck!
[“Super” over-use alert.] Thank you for the video. I was just wondering about how to correct this problem. Thank you!
Well that was amazing! Going over all the steps and potential pitfalls was perfect. Now, I have to fix my sticky tabletop. The obvious victim of scraping the sides while pouring.
So happy our video helped! Please feel free to contact us if you have any specific questions.
This really bring me to relax as my first ever resin coating gone wrong.. Thank you so much.
Hi Varsha, glad to help! The good news is most things are fixable :)
So professional and so helpful ❤
Thank you - glad you found it helpful!
Your video is the best I’ve seen thank you for even showing the next day mistake and how to fix that as well
So glad we could help :)
Thank you!!!! I hope mine cure properly, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to follow your instructions for at least one of the pieces
Good luck :). I think you will be fine!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I kept thinking I was doing it all wrong..was just about to give but your video helped me. I'll give it a go again and hope for the best
excellent video, thanks
Love your teaching. What about tiny bubbles how do you fix this on a large countertop.
Here is a blog that explains bubbles:

@@Artresin I sanded omg what I core 🙈 next time I won't be in a rush. Tyvm 💕
I loved the video on sticky resin. I made a bunch of straw toppers and they out sticky. What I tried, because the pieces are small, I use clear, high gloss nail polish and then put them under the UV light. Thank you for your great information.

Hi , thanks for sharing this information , i want to know why are you not using protection gear / respiratory mask ? isn't it harmful??
Thanks again,
Francois
Thank u so much, i almost quit my small buisness becauae of sticky resin this really helped
thank you for this video. I paint with acrylic and I'm wondering if I use a squeegee to remove the layer of resin will it damage the paint underneath?
I love your videos so much they have helped me on my resin journey. Please never stop your videos.❤
I do have one question tho, as you were pouring the resin why didn’t you put a mask on? Isn’t there a risk of toxic fumes?
We take safety seriously, thats why we developed ArtResin! Unlike many epoxy resins on the market, ArtResin is non toxic and does not produce fumes or VOCs, it is safe for home use without a respirator when used in a well ventilated area. Here is a blog with some more information:

Thank you very educational. I’m new and am one your third one. So a little work for me. But I did scrape when I pored.
Hopefully it all worked out - as long as you scrape off the wet, runny resin, you should be good :)
@@Artresin thank you yes it did.
This is the best informational video I’ve seen, thank you so much 😊
Great tips! Thank you for the tutorial! I’ve experienced runny and sticky resin so this will definitely help!
