Why is he hated? Even though he's Dutch, he's pretty much an unknown player here in the Netherlands. Some people here will know he came from the Barca academy and is supposed to be a big talent, but honestly I can't even tell you the position he plays lmao.

You grow up learning dutch and english then you get French and german when you go finish your first 8 years in school you then have at least 4 years french and german and if ur smart enough you can get Spanish and Latin at school
It is a culural thing. Dutch culture doesn't shy away from speaking other languages, even when it's imperfect. But by speaking other languages imperfectly you do the most important thing: practicing and mastering it. In school here by the age of 14, you have had enough basics from at least 3 foreign languages to start of with some rudimentary skill (and often even more) to start speaking it, imperfect as it may be. The rest comes with the years.
I myself am fluent in Dutch and English, near-fluent in German and to a lesser extend I speak Spanish and French.
That's because they've had to learn languages at a young age, English, German and French.

What do you understand under ''speaking a language'' I've heard people say that they speak french, since they had it in school for a few years. But they can't finish a proper sentence. To be honest Xavi's english and French is pretty bad. He only speaks Spanish and Dutch properly.
