Someone sent me this song yesterday. And I immediately dismissed it. I didn't like it at all. And I thought that was because it sounded very generic and very mainstreat music from movies. But then I heard it again and I realized exactly what you are saying. It's a perfect example of keeping the essence of folk and yet make it universally pleasing too. I was immeidately put off by the modern-ness of the music and rhtym and didn't give it a chance.
Which also points to the fact that not all music are supposed to feel good straightaway. We do need to give a little bit of openeness and curiosity.
