Glad you got them! Enjoy the coins! Yes, all these coins are in circulation that you can find in your change. "Souvenir" is French for Remembrance - Canada has English and French as official languages. The Olympic coins were commemoratives that were circulated in 2007 and 2008 and found in our pocket change. There are a total 9 quarters that were issued. Thanks for the kind words.
Hi Caroline! I’m from Alberta, Canada and I love collecting any special coins that we can get. All the coins you showed are just circulation coins that I have also got in my collection. We can also purchase special rolls or even ones that come carded. But I love searching my change for them all. The Vancouver Olympic coins came in a set and circulation. They represented all the sports that we hosted that year. The Olympic loonies are put out every Olympics. The lore around it goes that a Canadian ice maker was making the ice in the rink for the Olympic hockey games (I forget which Olympics it was) and he put a loonie in the ice and Canada won gold that year in hockey. So because of the lucky loonie, every Olympics the mint puts out a lucky loonie with the Olympic rings for people to collect in their change. It’s so much fun!
