I've never been interested in adventure bikes and to be honest considered them as boring! How wrong I was after owning a quite a few modern classics I've changed my bike for a Suzuki V storm 1050 and what a difference it's made to my riding experience. I can now travel many miles and arrive feeling as fresh as a daisy, no more feeling tired with aching legs and back! The v storm suits me down to the ground with a relaxed upright riding position, screen to keep the wind and rain off me and a wonderful engine.

Good review. I sold a Duc Multi 1200 and bought a used V-STROM 1050XT. I miss the thrill of the Mult's engine but that's about it. The V does 90% of what the Multi does for 70% of the cost. Factor in the V's reliability and cost of ownership and the smart money buys the V.

Great vlog Taym, these bikes are such fantastic value. Second hand they are super value. I rode one and the 650 back to back and at 6’2”but an old creaky frame, I preferred the smaller bike. I couldn’t explain but found the 1050 harder to clock leg over. Those v twins are just incredible tractable power at any revs

Great review for a great bike if you know what you want... I was a happy v strom 650 owner ( first gen) for 200.000 km whith no issues at all, after having a major accident went on a 1050 xt 2022 for a year now... After 30.000 km I could not be happier, love the looks, love the engine, love the reliability, I ride it daily and it always gives me an extra reason to smile.

Morning TAYM, great video, I love my 2014 650 'Strom I've had it coming up for eight years and 65,000 miles now, I've had a test ride on the previous 1000 to this one and it was a brilliant bike and so easy to ride but it was more of a want than a need ,so the 650 stays, and it's taken me and my missus everywhere without issue, so we couldn't bare to part with it ,it's been like a faithful dog to us really 😆, the missus refers to it as "Mr Strom" the most comfortable bike in the world!
So yeah in our biased opinion too , the Vstrom's are the best of all the adventure style bikes, and what other owners group has got a name as cool as "Strom troopers " eh ? 😅
Cheers have a great weekend 👍

The look of that bike reminds me about the old DR 800 BIG ... I liked that bike, a mate of mine had one in blue.. He loved it and ride it everywhere for many years. At that time the Africa twin 750 was my dream bike but I was short of money and rode Transalp 400 .. Marvelous little machine. I was in adv bikes for many many years. Before the segment blow up like today. There where literally 6-7 modeled to choose from the 90s. The 1050 has an optional central stand.. My opinion that big bikes made for long tours must be shaft drive or at least belt drive. Like on my brother's Super Tenere 1200.
Kawasaki use Tokico brakes on their sport bikes.

switched about 4 months ago from a 2019 650 to this, in blue and I just love it. It's the 650 but better in all aspects but what surprised me the most is how it feels physically smaller when riding. The cockpit view, the triangle and arms position, just perfect for me. I did thinned it by 7 kilos (lithium battery and center stand removal) and added some bits and bobs. Btw the info in the description is wrong, seems to be from the DE version.

Great review TAYM, you do seem to be very much attracted to those Suzuki v twins and I can see why. Suzuki always seem to produce bikes that work but with a value for money price tag and yet somehow I'm never attracted enough to buy one and I don't know why because they seem great bikes. This one would be too tall for me so it definitely won't be on the list but it does look a great bike.

Hi , great to get the feeling of being back on my old black n gold 1050. Absolute great bike but had to P/X for tiger because on more than one occasion when she was tank full on slow turns would catch me out and would nearly be too much to recover, and that’s with me being 6’2’’. Also wheeling her about was unnerving when going backwards in garage. The weight was the only issue.
Hopefully when health issues sorted will be back to meet ups this year.

This updated model seems better than previous iterations but never been too keen on the looks think it’s that headlight. Through my biking life I’ve had lots of Hondas Yamahas and Kawasaki’s but never ever owned a Suzuki. Richy Vida, don’t know if you follow his channel has one on long term test, Suzuki just told him last week he can keep it for another year. Great looking VStrom, I like the colors and the color matched wheels. Usually, I don’t care for the street going version of the VStrom (likewise with the KTM 1290 SA-S version. I have the S version of the 890 Adventure. I like the 890 OK in the S version though I think the R version looks better.) but I like the lines of this bike.
Like you mentioned about being on a long distance ride, the looks importance vanishes when we’re enjoying the ride for all of those miles and conditions.
Add in the great Suzuki reliability and that is one less worry to have.

You can't go wrong with a VStrom . Ultra reliable bike .
All you'll ever have to do is put tyres and chains on it .
The 800 is for a single rider and this one is for two up plus luggage. 100-110 hp is the sweet spot any more is a waste and only good for bragging rights . The computers on the big hp shaft drive machines dumbs them down anyway.

Great video TAYM as always, hope you don’t think I’m being daft, but have never ridden a bike with quick shifter/auto blipper,as still only got a Bandit 1250,are they difficult to use/get used to?
Is it the same as clutch less up shifting?

    • @TAYM
      @TAYM  7 месяцев назад +1

Thanks BM 😁 not stupid at all 😁 they are simple to use, just don’t shut the throttle off, leave the clutch alone and change gear. It is hard to fight the urge to change in the usual way 😁

I like theses V-Vtroms but they are too big for me. I am now 76 and I am downsizing to smaller lighter bikes. I have a T100, BMW G310r and of course my beloved Honda CB250rs a photo of which you have featured on one of your mutters. I agree, the Suzuki's do look good in blue and yellow. The SV I love as you know but with the wife as pillion she needs a decent seat.😊👍🏍

Suzuki needs to get with the times. That front mudguard covers too much of the wheel. They need one that’s about eight inches long and sits on top of the tire that will allow the front of the motor to be covered with muck.

Nice bike. I just don't understand why manufacturers make their road version of an off-road bike with such a hi seat. It's a road bike it should be lower. Their are plenty of bikes I would buy but I can't due to seat height ! I'm sure I'm not below height at 5-8 and 31-1/2 inside leg. Plenty off go fast and cruisers with lower seats but not many bikes with the comfortable upright seating for the 55 and over blokes unless you're a giant such as yourself 😄😁😆😅🤣😂. That's my rant done ! Great review, and I'm looking forward to the new GSX-S1000GX 👌

It might help you get more views if the bike's name is typed correctly in the title. It's V-Strom, not "Vstrom".
