2 play sessions in with the PS97 V13 and I was in love. Just bought one in fact. Had it on Demo, and was gonna play a few more sessions, but Tennis Warehouse had the 25% off Wilson gear sale so I had to pick up a stick, along with a 6 racquet Roger Federer bag.
Great video. Exciting and informative and you showed the racquets. My brother had that pro staff that Pete Sampras and Roger played with. I miss that racket so much. Was an awesome racquet.
Wow! Looks like Wilson really made great changes!
I know the prostaff is not seen as a beginner racquet, but I think after a beginner stops using initial cheap racquets they buy to get into the sport. The pro staff is what I would recommend to get...why?? because it forces you to have good technique and when you're hitting well you know right away because the sensation you get when you hit well with this racquet is amazing! This racquet almost enforces you to have good technique and can make you a better player. This is why these guys loved this racquet, especially all the coaches
true... also I dn't think walmart racquets are by any means easy to play with. if anything, a well strung pro staff of decent weight has a beter sweetspot and power/plowthrough, much easier to play with than a walmart racquet... any "official" racquet, pro or mp or whatever, if it has a decent sweetspot and weight, strung well, will work....
Appreciated the signature signature
I love your channel mate.
Thank you 🙏
Great review! They look amazing! Cheers from 🇧🇷!
Good pace. Thanks for not rushing. Also good to see the young guns give it a proper whack.
Great intro to the new pro staff. Next I would love for you to do the specs. Interested in the swing weights. Thank you! Really enjoy all your shows!
exactly!
Love the stealth looking
I can't believe Gu is recommending this racquet for beginners. It's one of the hardest and heaviest racquets to play with.
There was a time when nearly all coaches would have kids starting with heavier racquets. It makes them stronger and refines their strokes and most importantly, keeps them from getting elbow injuries.
That's why he is recommending it. You need to have good technic to hit with it so it will teach you.
@@AhmtYilmaz And you'll also get injuries from it. The stick is too stiff.
So different than the last model, how does Wilson do it??? I mean the radical model to model innovations are just breath taking.
Tennis Spin dude - why have you stopped taking specs of the racquets?? That was the best thing about your channel. I would love to buy the Pro Staff but not when I don't know the swing weight as the previous version was woefully underpowered with a surprisingly erratic stringbed.
His suppliers probably had something to do with it. They likely didn't like the quality control fails
Swingweight individually measured on 2 sites 321.5 & 329, so I'd assume by the time TW gets theirs they'll say 325, unless of course the others mentioned are under and they'll quote 330.
That's just Wilson's woeful qc as mentioned above. So really stated specs are meaningless.
Either way, unless you're buying a pair or more, you know how they swing. So, you need to demo (obviously), to determine if you like the new stick and if they've gotten rid of any of the previous deficiencies you found. Suffice to say a tighter string bed toward the centre will assist with greater control on the basis you found the previous string bed erratic (first I've heard anybody claim that before). I think this will be slightly less lively.
Happy hitting champ!
@@nostro1001 Wow, 321 and 329? That's a big difference. I'd only buy one of these if I can find one that's 330-334 swing weight as thin beam racquets need that extra oomph. It's like when I bought my Prestige Pro. Tried 4 of them and the one with the 334 swing weight played the best as it had some finishing power.
Because you guys were complaining about it. Now you guys want it back. Make up your minds
I’m glad he doesn’t it was painful having to fast forward all the time
Great review, you are legend!
Pro Staff v13: The bevel of the grip is perfectly dial in, not too round or rectangle. Great racket to learn how to hit the ball cleanly. Ideal for 4.0+ players who provide their own power, enjoy lead up for customization( see Mr. Spin #Djokovic )
It could be demanding for average club players who don’t have full swing style. Tons of feedback ( vibrations). Especially on heavier balls, the hollow chamber ping travel though handle. The matte paint still has trace amount of paint fume.
26 7/8”, 345g, 8pt HL, strung 16g ploy/multi with over grip, 3/8 grip size
Been playing for 18 years. Tried the ncode lines, speed lines from youtek to graphenes, tried vcores, PS97 2015 line, PS Countervail and now using PS97 V13 regular (315). Safe to say the V13 the best ive played with.
Could you please comment your string choice?, Brand, model and Gauge?
I bought the RF on your recommendation. Keep on teaching. I’ll be on the tennis courts near your.
How you liking it?
Great video!!!! I've thinking to change my CV pro staff to this new one.
I was really hoping for a smaller head size, but it looks like that wont happen until the 90" special edition. Thanks for the video!
Ball pocketing depends what kind of string you use in your racket and also the string ternsion Natural gut has the best feel ( ball pocketing )
Yes I really like the Pro Staff 97 315g.
Low and behold mine actually weighed bang on 315.00 grams. Lucky from what I see written about Wilson QC
Wow. What a beautiful racquet. Brings me back... wayyyy back! I love the matte finish with a hint of warm colors plus a matching bag? That is nice you guys are able to play. We have too much smoke in the Central Valley of CA to go out.
I was waiting for this video, thank you for the review. I really liked the design it looks awsome but I wish the butt cap of regular 97 was black too. Bag also looks nice. I will probably get a regular 97.
They apparently had a big debate up in Chicago because almost everything the Wilson sponsored players use has the signature Wilson red on it but they let him use the black.
roger federer tings
I was a fan of Edberg back then. So i gave the Pro Staff a try... man that racket was heavy. 😂. But awesome feel. Been a fan of the Pro Staff since... Pretty sure i’m not the only one.
Never tried it but doesn't mean we're fans of Edberg as well :) we also post tennis videos and would love to welcome you to our channel and videos as well!!!
PS 85 plays awesome with Alu Power, if your wrist and forearm do not complain.
I got rid of my pro staff 97 version 11 as it had no power and a very precise sweet spot. This racket is a pro racket but for club players it is not forgiving. You need good technique as you have to generate the power. Switched to Ezone 100.
I just purchased four rf97 v13 yesterday!!!! Can’t wait😃
so how did that go? considering its heavy
I got the PS97 v13. Looks really good! Ordered Tues night and i received it by thurs noon.
What do you think about it? Its pros and cons ?
Is that an ezone tour in the background that chris is hitting with? Did he switch? Great vid.
I'm paying with ProStaff for a while and I love the RF V13 : awesome racket with more feel, more confort and more power than the last modele : I put 21 as tension to increase power.
Is it more stable compared to v11? V11 had a very poor twist weight
The design is too subtle, they should have made the red and yellow lines a bit thicker so it stands out more as it did in the original. But then I guess it's a true reflection of how similar these racquets were compared to the original prostaffs (not a lot in common other than the name and Federer's endorsement).
Seems like they could have taken the stripes all the way around the hoop or something huh ?
i have the v11 of the rf97 ( all black tuxedo) and i wish they put the red/yellow stripes on the new rf97, it would've looked better. like tony said they could've taken the stripes around the whole frame.
Personally I think the feel and playability of the racket is way more important, if you are buying a racket for how it looks then you shouldn't be buying this.
Harry Wardle Of course the way it plays is most important but people want their rackets to look good! Nothing wrong with that. I was ready for something different and better and the looks are ok but I was hoping for more. I’m sure I ll like the way it hits.
Add the paint(stripes) yourself or hire it done. Not a big deal in my book
Will you please do your normal weight swingweight balance quality control for the new Pro Staffs V13🔥😁👍
I think i found my forever frame with this pro staff honestly
Hello sir, what forehand and backhand grip do you use? And whats your play style? Do you think it fits you well? Thank you very much
I picked up tennis after a 20 year hiatus. Played with the clash for 4 months. Today my strings went and I picked up my cousin's PureStrike. Wow. What a difference. I am done with the clash 100. Hello PS97. Any recommendations for strings?
Great video and good review. Which one will be powerful and comfortable between the new Pure Drive and Pro Staff 97 (Not the Fed)?
Hello. Enjoy watching your videos. One question. Do you know if Wilson will issue 97LS version like they did in 2016? How was it popular in 2016?
Great 👍🏻 job!!!
Would love to say I’d just stick with the RF but I can’t handle the weight anymore. I do usually like the regular PS, I’ve done decently with the Clash, and I’m starting to like a couple of Yonex frames! I need to be in the 11 oz range (mid 11) and I could use some help with power (which racket and string) so any tips would be appreciated,
Should do a vid testing the new 100 head sized Pro Staff! Surprised Wilson made one
LOVE your channel. I would like to know the difference between the RF and the Blade 16x19. Also the difference between the Yonex Ezone and Vcore (both 98’s). Everyone talks about them (Wilson and Yonex) separately not against each other. Thank you.
Blade is much more vibration absorbing than the Pro Staff. You get the thud and then silence from the Blade. Pro Staff has also has a solid feel but doesn't have the dampening tech that the Blade and Clash have.
Decades later the racquet can be obtained in lighter different versions and is bigger than 95 sq in. With no noticeable PWS on the sides, it's built to be stable and prevent frame torque. Due to the nature of the matt paint, the surface maybe less durable than the classic glossy paint job. Frankly, the older red&black&yellow versions of the frame for feel is incredibly difficult to match. But, this new stuff is very comparable, versitile, interesting and user friendly. The line is certainly more accessible to the Fed fans & the general public in different versions. I still have my 95 sq. inch classic 6.1 version. And, I am very fortunate to have these 11.1 and 12.1 versions. They are Frig'n Ffffffffun! I let fellow doubles&singles players borrow (FED V13&97L) them and they wanted to buy them from me. They loved it with Luxilon Element on mains and Wilson Sensation on the crosses. I really like both these two new ones I own for vollies, overheads/serves and pounding a groundie.
I guess I gotta buy 4 more tennis rackets! 😍😍😍😍😎😎😎😎
Can the PS 97 be like a back up for the new one or will it be a great difference? Thank you!
I have the black prostaff 97 (non countervail) v11 from a couple years ago. It’s all black like this one. I was wondering if there was a difference between this new one and the old all black non cv prostaff 97. Like you mentioned the difference in string pattern in the middle, tennis nerd also said the string pattern was different and more predictable than the older one. Would you say this one is better than the v11 non countervail. And is it worth the upgrade.
i bought the regular when wilson was running a sale about a month ago but it still hasn't shipped out because they're having supply issues 😒
What are your thoughts about the 97L(89) being stiffer than both the RF97(88) and 97(85)? Is it to compensate for the weight?
I'm not a big boy: 5'5''' and 135 pounds. But I've always played with heavy racquets. I just enjoy the racquet doing a lot of work for me. So, I used to play with the Pro staff 85, the Ncode N tour 90, and then the RF 97 original(black and red). I have grown older, but I will not buy these new frames. To me, it's the best of the best: power, control, FEEL, etc. This is it! I have strung and tried every racquet, but nothing compares to a Pro Staff Rf 97. Though I would give a very high mention to my Pro Staffs 97 Spin(Dimitrov), if you want them a little more head heavy.
Hey Mr T Spin. Try to start your back swing earlier, it should help with your timing a lot more. I've noticed you tend to start your back swing when the ball bounces on your side of the court. Try to start it as soon as the ball is hit towards you :)
name’s Harry
Can you make a video on what strings suit best for rf97?
Would you also recommend Volkl V-Cell 8 285g for new fresh intermediate 3.5?
How does it compared to 2015 PS97 and 2017 PS97?
does the rubbery paint still comes off easy like the previous version? and the sides are now entirely made out of that easily removable paintjob?
I own 2 dunlop g200 musclewave. What would you recommend as an upgrade for something with similar but feel but more modern.
Any string suggestions (I am using Solinco Hyper-G & Confidential) and tension? Thank you so much.
Does pro staff 97L 2018 (White and black ) have countervail? So this all black 2020 model also has not countervail, so nothing changed...?
I like the design
nice one! I want them !!!!!!
I love all your reviews and content. Could you please do a review of Wilson pro staff precision 100 (version 2). It's a racquet for recreational players like most of us.
I'm still playing my ncode ntour 95 sq inch. I think the 97L is gonna be my new one
Have you seen the probably new Babolat pure aero? Whit pink, red etc?
Best bag from Wilson I've seen in a long time!
Great video. Did you guys cover 97UL on the channel yet? Thx.
Great review
I can't find any review about WILSON PRO Staff Team V13.0. What do You think about it?
is the pro staff v13 team made of the same technology? cos its lighter (280g) and bigger (100sq) - definitely looks part of the pro staff family - but cheaper than the 97s. deciding between the pro staff team and the 97l.
Gonna get one in the spring to replace my current RF black which i just cracked the paint on lol
I played a Wilson encode in high school? They don’t mAke this tennis racket anymore. Is this going to be a familiar transition to the Wilson pro staff 97?
Does everyone model of Wilson Pro Staff RF Autograph V12 (BLACK AND WHITE) is lighter than V11, or than V13 version?
Wilson paint designer took the year off😂😂😂
You mean for the past 4 years lmao
@@YJ-br7ug Exactly! Paint jobs after the 2015 version are crap. Cannot stand these kindergarten colour charts any longer...
I dig the basic look. More like the original pro staff
Thank god. This is probably the most beautiful racquet I've ever seen
The RF is my racket of choice
How does the PS97 compare to nonCV previous versions?
Good to know from coach Rob Pro Staff and Pro Staff L is similar.
Hi there - A great review, thank you!! I used to play with the 97RF v12 before a shoulder and elbow injuries and switched to 97L v13. So far I am really enjoying it especially the slice, however, I would love to have some more weight but not too much as the the 97 or 97RF. Ideally, I would really like to bump the racket weight to 300g or 305g without loosing the balance...etc. How would you recommend me to do that?
Hey, a little lead tape would do the trick.
I always loved the old Pro Staff in flat no nonsense frying pan black. Pete Sampras, Mike Tyson, no bling.
Please .. Mr Tennis Spin ..can you tell Wilson Company to make Prostaff 85 sq and 90 sq from new vision ProStaff RF97 Vision 13..
The all black 97F has been around for at least two years!
Great review, makes me want to buy a couple of the 97
Which one? They are all 97
@@msalvs troll!
Wilson released a racquet around 2016 called Burn FST 95. It's short-lived, but the feel is very close to PS85 - solid(stiff), small sweet spot, punchy, and not much spin. Back then I kept wondering why Wilson went retro when its lines are pretty 'modernized'. 90 already feels quite different from 85, and not to mention 97, so we'll see if this update really transforms 97
is the light RF just like the regular but lighter? that is what i think
What is your opinion on willson prostaff 26 V13 for my 10 year old who plays in USTA.
Thank you
What raquet do you recomend most for a beginner-medium player the pro staff 97 L v13 or pure strike team gen 3? Thank you and best regards from México.
I’d imagine the Pure Strike Team since the line is more known for having controllable power, whereas the Pro Staff (*other than the RF97) line lacks power.
Did you get the Pro Staff 6.1 95 18x20? I need a review on it!!!!
I have the 97L Love the racquet but recently put the new Restring Zero in it at 54 lbs and just not working for me. I like spin and feel. What do you recommend?
When they sell on the market for new pro staff 2021?
All said and done and fantastic marketing btw, doubt you're going to switch from your Clash Pro :)
he never said he was lol
this didn’t age well
How does it compare to the yonex ezone tour 98
Ezone has a more open pattern for people which have top spin strokes.
Hi Guys,
I currently use pure strike 3rd gen 16x19 with all the customisations weigh 345 grams. I bought a RF97 autograph (340g Unstrung ). Any recommendations for strings.
Current plans:
1. Babolat VS Mains ( 58 lbs ), Volkl Cyclone Cross ( 55 lbs )
2. Babolat VS Mains ( 57 lbs ) , Lux Alu rough cross ( 55 lbs )
3. Lux Alu power 53 lbs
4. Tour bite mains ( 53 lbs ) , Tecnifibre Multifeel/Powe fiber/xcel ( 55 lbs )
can you measure V13 RF97 and V11 RF97, because i saw on yt that there are differences between them. :)
Am I the only person who like the COUNTERVAIL? I have three white sides color countervail version.
Pls review Pro Staff Team V13. Couldn't find any review video for the same!
Do you have website online for rackets. Do you have a pro staff 97s v11 in stock
PSL or PS97 for women? I spent my youth playing and recently started back up. I’m on a demo plan and have tried PSL, Head Prestige and Wilson Blade. My nostalgia is impacting my judgement bc I returning to the PSL. My last highly coveted racquet was the Wilson PS from I am out of shape and haven’t played in 25 years and intimidated by the PS97… my question, is if I keep playing 2-3x per week do you recommend for the PSL or PS97? I can’t afford to buy multiple racquets and what I buy this year, I may not want to own in a year in the hopes that I’m stronger and slightly better. My last racquet was the PS classic beam 95.
If you still have the classic 6.1 pro staff 95 and play with it successfully, you can handle the 97PSV13. Some argue the classic 6.1 has great feel and is still relevant if you can swing the weight. The lighter version 97L allows a quicker get ready response for more user friendly swinging that the heavier version.
Although those sections built into the side pockets seem like a good idea, the bag will be carried vertically on your back and those side pocket sections are not close enough to the zip to prevent items that are in the highest pockets, ending up in pile in the lower pockets while wearing the bag ... it looks sturdy with cool external design tho!
What is the strings?
What strings did you use on the PS regular?
Would have been. Ice if the RFA had Red and White stripes for the Swiss flag instead of the double white lines to give it some new look. I love the exposed carbon braid it’s too bad they couldn’t show this on the entire racquet frame they would have sold gizzillians if they manages to do that. I hope quality control is there. Like not one racquet at 340g then the same size grip of another racquet is 352g. But other than that I’m. Anxious to play test with it looks great. But the PS 97 v13 look a tad nicer because of the clout of the lines which they smartly made it subtle.
What do you think about Junior Pro staff 26 inches?
What do you think about Clash vs pro staff for someone who is about 4.0?
Check the specs that you like. Both are very very 👍 good.
When is the 97 available in Canada?
Does anybody have some insights regarding cheaper pro staff team ?
The product page of rf 97 mentions 45 degrees braided grafite is that different than previous versions? Also a more precise weight of 340.19 g is mentioned does that mean quality control is better could you tjeck
Pretty sure the QC is the same disaster as before. Braided graphite pattern is difference but you will never notice any difference, it’s just marketing BS
@@msalvs people who own v11 and v13 rf97wrote that there is difference between them...... so, buy them test them for yourself.... etc
The braided graphite in the new RF is the same as in the old RF.
No matter What it's all about business in "any racket brand". Money!
You mean you don't believe the coach who's been getting free racquets from Wilson for 30 years? Advisory Staff.... the only advice they give is to buy Wilson racquets.
