    2 play sessions in with the PS97 V13 and I was in love. Just bought one in fact. Had it on Demo, and was gonna play a few more sessions, but Tennis Warehouse had the 25% off Wilson gear sale so I had to pick up a stick, along with a 6 racquet Roger Federer bag.

    I know the prostaff is not seen as a beginner racquet, but I think after a beginner stops using initial cheap racquets they buy to get into the sport. The pro staff is what I would recommend to get...why?? because it forces you to have good technique and when you're hitting well you know right away because the sensation you get when you hit well with this racquet is amazing! This racquet almost enforces you to have good technique and can make you a better player. This is why these guys loved this racquet, especially all the coaches

    • @Kelvin-ed6ce
      @Kelvin-ed6ce Год назад

      true... also I dn't think walmart racquets are by any means easy to play with. if anything, a well strung pro staff of decent weight has a beter sweetspot and power/plowthrough, much easier to play with than a walmart racquet... any "official" racquet, pro or mp or whatever, if it has a decent sweetspot and weight, strung well, will work....

    • @chuckfriebe843
      @chuckfriebe843 3 года назад +9

      There was a time when nearly all coaches would have kids starting with heavier racquets. It makes them stronger and refines their strokes and most importantly, keeps them from getting elbow injuries.

    Tennis Spin dude - why have you stopped taking specs of the racquets?? That was the best thing about your channel. I would love to buy the Pro Staff but not when I don't know the swing weight as the previous version was woefully underpowered with a surprisingly erratic stringbed.

    • @Siloguy
      @Siloguy 3 года назад +8

      His suppliers probably had something to do with it. They likely didn't like the quality control fails

    • @nostro1001
      @nostro1001 3 года назад +5

      Swingweight individually measured on 2 sites 321.5 & 329, so I'd assume by the time TW gets theirs they'll say 325, unless of course the others mentioned are under and they'll quote 330.
      That's just Wilson's woeful qc as mentioned above. So really stated specs are meaningless.
      Either way, unless you're buying a pair or more, you know how they swing. So, you need to demo (obviously), to determine if you like the new stick and if they've gotten rid of any of the previous deficiencies you found. Suffice to say a tighter string bed toward the centre will assist with greater control on the basis you found the previous string bed erratic (first I've heard anybody claim that before). I think this will be slightly less lively.
      Happy hitting champ!

    • @svlagonda7417
      @svlagonda7417 3 года назад +2

      @@nostro1001 Wow, 321 and 329? That's a big difference. I'd only buy one of these if I can find one that's 330-334 swing weight as thin beam racquets need that extra oomph. It's like when I bought my Prestige Pro. Tried 4 of them and the one with the 334 swing weight played the best as it had some finishing power.

    Pro Staff v13: The bevel of the grip is perfectly dial in, not too round or rectangle. Great racket to learn how to hit the ball cleanly. Ideal for 4.0+ players who provide their own power, enjoy lead up for customization( see Mr. Spin #Djokovic )
    It could be demanding for average club players who don’t have full swing style. Tons of feedback ( vibrations). Especially on heavier balls, the hollow chamber ping travel though handle. The matte paint still has trace amount of paint fume.
    26 7/8”, 345g, 8pt HL, strung 16g ploy/multi with over grip, 3/8 grip size

    The design is too subtle, they should have made the red and yellow lines a bit thicker so it stands out more as it did in the original. But then I guess it's a true reflection of how similar these racquets were compared to the original prostaffs (not a lot in common other than the name and Federer's endorsement).

      Harry Wardle Of course the way it plays is most important but people want their rackets to look good! Nothing wrong with that. I was ready for something different and better and the looks are ok but I was hoping for more. I’m sure I ll like the way it hits.

      Blade is much more vibration absorbing than the Pro Staff. You get the thud and then silence from the Blade. Pro Staff has also has a solid feel but doesn't have the dampening tech that the Blade and Clash have.

    Decades later the racquet can be obtained in lighter different versions and is bigger than 95 sq in. With no noticeable PWS on the sides, it's built to be stable and prevent frame torque. Due to the nature of the matt paint, the surface maybe less durable than the classic glossy paint job. Frankly, the older red&black&yellow versions of the frame for feel is incredibly difficult to match. But, this new stuff is very comparable, versitile, interesting and user friendly. The line is certainly more accessible to the Fed fans & the general public in different versions. I still have my 95 sq. inch classic 6.1 version. And, I am very fortunate to have these 11.1 and 12.1 versions. They are Frig'n Ffffffffun! I let fellow doubles&singles players borrow (FED V13&97L) them and they wanted to buy them from me. They loved it with Luxilon Element on mains and Wilson Sensation on the crosses. I really like both these two new ones I own for vollies, overheads/serves and pounding a groundie.

I was wondering if there was a difference between this new one and the old all black non cv prostaff 97. Like you mentioned the difference in string pattern in the middle, tennis nerd also said the string pattern was different and more predictable than the older one. Would you say this one is better than the v11 non countervail. And is it worth the upgrade.

    I'm not a big boy: 5'5''' and 135 pounds. But I've always played with heavy racquets. I just enjoy the racquet doing a lot of work for me. So, I used to play with the Pro staff 85, the Ncode N tour 90, and then the RF 97 original(black and red). I have grown older, but I will not buy these new frames. To me, it's the best of the best: power, control, FEEL, etc. This is it! I have strung and tried every racquet, but nothing compares to a Pro Staff Rf 97. Though I would give a very high mention to my Pro Staffs 97 Spin(Dimitrov), if you want them a little more head heavy.

    Wilson released a racquet around 2016 called Burn FST 95. It's short-lived, but the feel is very close to PS85 - solid(stiff), small sweet spot, punchy, and not much spin. Back then I kept wondering why Wilson went retro when its lines are pretty 'modernized'. 90 already feels quite different from 85, and not to mention 97, so we'll see if this update really transforms 97

    What raquet do you recomend most for a beginner-medium player the pro staff 97 L v13 or pure strike team gen 3? Thank you and best regards from México.

      I’d imagine the Pure Strike Team since the line is more known for having controllable power, whereas the Pro Staff (*other than the RF97) line lacks power.

    PSL or PS97 for women? I spent my youth playing and recently started back up. I’m on a demo plan and have tried PSL, Head Prestige and Wilson Blade. My nostalgia is impacting my judgement bc I returning to the PSL. My last highly coveted racquet was the Wilson PS from I am out of shape and haven’t played in 25 years and intimidated by the PS97… my question, is if I keep playing 2-3x per week do you recommend for the PSL or PS97? I can’t afford to buy multiple racquets and what I buy this year, I may not want to own in a year in the hopes that I’m stronger and slightly better. My last racquet was the PS classic beam 95.

      If you still have the classic 6.1 pro staff 95 and play with it successfully, you can handle the 97PSV13. Some argue the classic 6.1 has great feel and is still relevant if you can swing the weight. The lighter version 97L allows a quicker get ready response for more user friendly swinging that the heavier version.

    Although those sections built into the side pockets seem like a good idea, the bag will be carried vertically on your back and those side pocket sections are not close enough to the zip to prevent items that are in the highest pockets, ending up in pile in the lower pockets while wearing the bag ... it looks sturdy with cool external design tho!

    Would have been. Ice if the RFA had Red and White stripes for the Swiss flag instead of the double white lines to give it some new look. I love the exposed carbon braid it’s too bad they couldn’t show this on the entire racquet frame they would have sold gizzillians if they manages to do that. I hope quality control is there. Like not one racquet at 340g then the same size grip of another racquet is 352g. But other than that I’m. Anxious to play test with it looks great. But the PS 97 v13 look a tad nicer because of the clout of the lines which they smartly made it subtle.

    The product page of rf 97 mentions 45 degrees braided grafite is that different than previous versions? Also a more precise weight of 340.19 g is mentioned does that mean quality control is better could you tjeck
