- His calm demeanour and wholesome vocation have apparently endeared him to one of the most authoritarian regimes in the world.

But there is something about Alan Titchmarsh that North Korea’s censors can’t quite forgive - his jeans. The green-fingered broadcaster and author of raunchy novels has been a fixture on state television since 2022, albeit with the addition of a blurred effect from the waist down. By wearing jeans to potter about in Britain’s gardens in his BBC TV series Garden Secrets, Titchmarsh, 74, fell foul of a North Korean ban on the garments, which the regime has forbidden since the early 1990s because they are seen as a symbol of US imperialism.

#NorthKorea #AlanTitchmarsh #BBC #GardenSecrets
The only country where they blur you for wearing trousers.
😂
The Soviet Union also had a similar stance on jeans to be fair. There is a famous Georgian book called ჯინსების თაობა, the jeans generation, about Soviet Georgia where wearing jeans was a rebellious act.
I'm more amazed that they watch Alan Titchmarsh
Wait until they see him trimming his bush and spreading his seeds!!😳👖
Where can I find this video?
😂, wheezing
I thought it was only Japan that blurred that area in certain videos 🤔
The idea of Alan Titchmarsh being a celebrity in North Korea sounds like a joke made on an early 2000s comedy
Mock the Week 😂
Before they became a fashion they were workers trousers/pants.
Marxism was always about creating an absolute monarchy for industrialised (or industrialising) societies. It was always the polar opposite (and enemy) of the trade unions or any organic worker led grass roots movement.
Glorious
I thought it was because his flys were undone or something….😂😂😂
No, Alan is much to civilised for that.
Im sure he's Kim Jong Un's guilty pleasure in his spare time.
Remember, this is the UK media!!
Ох уж эти джинсы...😅 Они нам и в СССР покоя не давали. Я о них мечтала.😊
N.Korea still watching TV invented by British 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How silly.
Alan Titchmarsh, the favourite gardener of housewives. Nice to see he’s appreciated abroad. 😂
They must think he must have three legs
Yeah, they are happy to abuse animals in markets but are offended by jeans??????
Lol...how did North Korea even get a copy of this video in the first place! 😅
Seriously? Over jeans? The people running their TVs are tripping.
I thought North Korea doesn't allow Western TV?
They still technically don't but when it comes to foreign programs like this where it's already heavily edited anyways and it's literally just about gardening the Regime probably doesn't worry about it too much.
Yeah, you don’t hear him speaking any English. It’s all dubbed into North Korean and the person talking might not be saying the same things as the British guy at all.
Didn't the BBC's Top of The Pops used to effectively do this with Elvis' trousers too back in the day?! Titchmarsh is obviously regarded as Rock n Roll in NK!
Which episode is this
Jeans are not even originally from the USA
Certainly the material, a close woven canvas was invented by the French in Nimes hence, De Nimes, Denim! It could be dyed virtually any colour you wanted but the most popular and hard wearing was blue which, thanks to Levi Strauss became the norm.
NOBODY LIKES PRIMARK JEANS.
Hope to see Titchmarsh rocking the double denim in future.
I wonder if they pay royalties?
N. Korea - another workers paradise, FAIL to realise that jeans were the American WORKING mans overalls.
They don't have jeans in North Korea, you used to be able to sell Levi jeans for a lot of money in Soviet Russia for the same reason.
Laughing, here. How can Denim be construed as Imperialistic or decadent ? Perhaps Titchmarsh stuffed a squash down the front 😂
He recently raised admission prices to view the USS Pueblo.
Titchmarsh?
Will they censor you if you wear no jeans
This is hilarious. Shame on the mess!!!
Plenty of blurring when is female assistant is using the leaf blower on the bushes
Thought that was Noel Gallagher gardening at a glance.
they might not have jeans but nor do they have 1 million new immigrants per year every year
That many North Koreans would leave the country immediately if they could.
Who wants jeans when you have giant statues of your dear leaders to bow to? Or else it s imprisonment nor just for you but for your parents and children. How fabulous !
Despite thinking that it is an overused word, I have to say that this is hilarious!
Socialism at its finest.
Read the definition of socialism
🤦
😂 that is hilarious, you can still obviously see that he's wearing jeans and what is Mr Alan Titmarsh doing on NK TV especially after being voted the British housewives bit of crumpet, guess that was lost in translation as a fortune cookie?
North korea has tv hmm
This is a beautiful video from Gardening with Kirk
Nothing quite compares with blurred pants to say HUGE USA EMPIRE 'R' US
FFS.
Does anyone under 50 even wear jeans anymore?😂
POV: 4KIDS
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No one cares
They also ban protests, like the Tories.
...and yet they're socialist like Labour..
@@agt155No not socialist. More like a monarchy. The Labour Party is not hereditary.
And not like the Conservative Party where you can buy the Premiers seat if you are a billionaire.
You two make wish there was a tin foil hat emoji to use.
Madness incarnate
bukhaki?
