I love Manuela's voice so wonderful. Diane is also absolutely amazing and I love her work with the band too. I know everyone wants to compare them to Nightwish. Both bands are amazing, there is no need to compare them. I do prefer Floor with Nightwish, and I love Tarja's work since she went solo. Still all four of those women have amazing voices.

Manuela has a distinctive "Power" in her style, like a queen giving orders at the battlefront. Diane, in contrast, reminds me more of a playful princess, or faerie guiding a troop of warriors.
I hate that people keep comparing this to Nightwish, as well as the two vocalists. It's not fair that everyone has to be a "Nightwish wannabe" or "copycat." Yes, Nightwish created something great, but that doesn't mean that nobody else can have a similar style. In that case 98% of all musicians would be "copycats." Everyone gets inspiration from SOMEONE, and I don't see why being like Nightwish would be a bad thing anyways. Besides, there are several bands with this style, it's just that only a few have been recognized. It's a great sound, so please act like adults and enjoy it. They're both good, no, great. Quit comparing the two.

Out of the many opera-style metal vocalists that I know only two are really special: Tarja and Manuella. I don't get what is the secret maybe it's a mix of things like a very rich timbre, great range and skills or personal style but they have a kind of "luxury" or "splendour" in their voices.
Stop comparing Xandria with Nightwish. Xandria are more aggressive while Nightwish has a certain elegance to their songs, especially the ones with Tarja. But in the end they are both great bands and it only comes down to everyone's personal preference.
+Alexandru Ionescu I personally think they DO share similiarities. Nightwish kinda shaped this sort of Metal, so pretty much every Band with an Operavoice as Lead gets compared to "old" Nightwish. I do agree that people could finally get over it though.

I interviewed Xandria in 2015 and they said they take being compared to Nightwish as a big compliment as they're such a great band. I find that both bands have their own vibe and sound.
The truth is Manuela Kraller is what got me into Xandria in the first place back around 2017. TOTAL RESPECT! Like I say truly a sight to see! Thank You!

I keep coming back to this video since I love Xandria, and Everytime I can't get over how much of a presence Manuela commands in this video, those eyes and her voice, she is the living definition of a siren and I love it all.
I have watched this clip and listened to this song hundreds of times - to me it is the greatest Symphonic Metal song ever released - especially with Manuela as the vocalist - absolutely fantastic!
This is a high quality symphonic metal band. Yes she sounds closer to Tarja than Floor, but her sound is genuine and unique. I would happily go and see them. They are VERY VERY GOOD. I can say this as Nightwish fan.
exactly my thoughts... as an hardcore Tarja's Nightwish fan, i do realy admire Xandria with Manuela, as piece of gold to my ears... temporary fix for heartbroken Nightwish fan... and considering that Xandria replaced Manuela (SACRILEGE AND SIN!!!!!!), and then Dianne too (FREAKING BLASPHEMY), 2 tragedies which can compete with tragedy of Nightwish and Tarja... for me less painful, but still tragedies... how could this happen. after reaching Olympus with those women, they freaking discard them, instead of going on and progressing, evolving, transcending... i can't understarnd... was the level too high to follow, and they are stepping down from Olympus to mediocrity... are they afraid to follow their own success, with making not better, but at least the same level stuff? I DON'T believe it... they create good stuff afterwards too... but why did they need to procede with those freaking blasphemy of replacing those singers... imagine all that amazing stuff composers, particularly Tuomas created after throwing Tarja away, imagine that good stuff but also with Tarja in them, that would be out of the world,high class stuff

I found this band by accident while searching for a different one and I clicked it out of curiosity. I am glad I did because she has a stunningly beautiful voice and I love the way she dresses. I'm not usually into metal (it is metal, right? sorry, I'm not always sure what genre a band fits into) but I like them. Maybe the lead vocals being female has something to do with it, I don't know. But I always enjoy finding new music that I end up liking.
When i hear this song or ‘Upon fallen autumn leaves’ by haggard, I can’t help but wonder how Manuela might have fared as lead singer in nightwish I adore floor like a lot loved her way before her nightwish days totally loved after forever and revamp, but I feel that Manuela’s vocals the operatic nature fit more closely to the Tarja era nightwish sound than floors classically influenced vocals, I’m not saying any are the better singer because all three are favourite vocalists of mine but for what I liked about nightwish I think Manuela would’ve been perfect
I've listened a little bit of this new band (or older according to wikipedia) and IT SOUNDS SURPRISINGLY GOOD. A Gothic band with symphonic metal and rock metal. I like this and I will certainly follow them more closely.
Wow, this is the first Manuela song I've heard of Xandria, and I'm loving this! Definitely better than Nightfall, which is the only other Xandria song I've heard.
I hope the new album is similar. Things are not looking so great right now with the new lyric video for Dreamkeeper. "Neverworld's End" remains one of my favorite albums of all time.

Heads up! I'm one hell of a Nightwish fan and have been for yyeeaarrss, so baring that in mind, don't compare Xandria to Nightwish. It's roughly like comparing Ferrari to Lamborghini. Both are super cars.. but both are totally different. Xandria has qualities LIKE Nightwish of old, but NW is going in a slightly different direction now. Xandria very much has their own sound. Xandria is excellent and I recommend them to anyone who likes this genre. They have a fantastic sound. The symphonic world is happy to have this band. :)

Not gonna lie, Manuela is absolutely my favorite Xandria singer. I never liked Lisa, and Dianne's voice is too boring. Manuela was the only singer who had a really powerful, deep operatic voice. Even the guitar riffs and drum lines sounded better during NWE era. I can't believe she's gone after only 1 album :(
No kidding, I was soooo happy when Neverworld's End was released. There was finally another good symphonic metal band without all the childish devil-growling thrown in.
@mcuffinerson, Totally disagree, I loved Lisa and now I love the new singer Dianne, her voice is beautiful the songs are better she looks great too. The new album is so much better then the last one in my opinion. I was not a big fan of Neverworld's End but i am a fan of Sacrificium and the older albums.Not gonna lie, Manuela never really did anything for me she was OK but Lisa was better and i lost interest in the band for a while when they change there sound but now Dianne is the singer i am starting to love the band again :)
It's a real shame that Manuella leaves. Neverworlds End was by far their best album, one that I really love. I am verry happy now that I have seen them live in their (so far) best composition. Manuella had an amazing voice live, I really hope they will still make music that great with the new singer, and they will perform live just as good, or even better. But I will really miss Manuella in this band :(
Marwen Ricky only started listening to their album with her recently and her voice has a similar impact on me that Tarja’s does. (And Tarja is my favourite singer ) The dark timbre suits the atmosphere so much. Her voice is so beautiful 😍
Stop comparing Manuela with Tarja, PLEASE. They may sound a bit similiar but it doesn't mean that "Oh Manu tries to sound like Tarja Xandria is a copycat" NO ONE CAN CHOOSE THEIR VOICES.

I keep coming back at this video. It s an amazing song, written and perform at a level that maybe not even Xandria could reach again. The sinergy betwen them and Manuela is amazing, and the video is so well produced. I take this album anytime over all of the old Nightwish albums.

I am fifty six and I no problem with this music. In fact I quit listening to American music for this genre of music. I get my two favorite music...Opera and Metal!!! I'm a happy old lady!!!
I love all three singers!! Lisa had more of a softer voice that was more calming. Manuela has a Powerful, Strong, operatic voice. Then you have the new singer thats in my opinion just right. Not too over powering and not too soft.

Just because Tarja is best known than Manuela, doesn't mean she is better. I think that Manuela is one of the best classical singers in metal bands. In other words, I guess that Manuela is better than Tarja. I love both, but Manuela is unique. In fact, Neverworld's End is my favorite album from Symphonic Metal.
100% agreed. Though I love Neverworld's End and Sacrificium equally and Manuela and Dianne equally. Also this: Xandria-defending time. A lot people who have heard the symphonic metal band Xandria say they are simply a "not-bad" or "Hm... It's close as quality" clone of Nightwish. Now, that I learned more about soprano types and thought and analysed even deeper, I can even better argue with this opinion. For me, Xandria is an "upgraded" version of Nightwish. They are way more epic. Now I will explain why. 1/ The vocal harmonies are more intense, bigger, wider, with more voices, more often and more accented. (e.g. especially the 3:41 part of Nightfall, the Pactum Fraudis part in Valentine at 2:31. You can't see that intense, epic, powerful and high-pitched vocal harmonies in any Nightwish song, right? And it’s only one part of one song that has a few more parts like that, while there are around 2 more douzens of songs that are around the levels of Valentine or even MORE intense and epic than Valentine (e.g. nearly the basically whole Nightfall except the guitar solo literally doesn’t let you breathe because of that kind of vocal harmonies)) 2/ There are some occasional choirs and they have a gothic hint in a big part of their songs. (e.g. A Prophecy of Worlds to Fall; We Are Murderers; Cursed; Burn Me; Nightfall; Stardust; Betrayer and more). The gothic hint make them also more variable than the nearly only symphonic power metal-based Nightwish. Before we go to №3, I have to explain the differences between the soprano types. Lyric soprano is a soprano that has enough power to only be heard over the orchestra but doesn't really shine with power, epicness, intensity. They are best at spinning out long, delicate, lyric lines. This is usually calmer, right? A dramatic soprano is usually a soprano with a bit lower/smaller range but has a REALLY powerful voice and sends shivers down the spine and makes you full goosebumps with thoughts like "WOW, this is unbelievably epic, powerful and intense". They are best at punching out very dramatic passages. A spinto soprano is a soprano that is between the 2 and combines the characteristics of the 2. Spintos can both easily hit the high notes of a lyric soprano, yet can be "pushed" on to achieve dramatic climaxes without strain. So here we come to 3: 3/ Tarja is a lyric soprano. Dianne van Giersbergen is a spinto soprano (I thought for a long time she was a dramatic one but this is actually better because it is both Tarja and epicness at the same time). So, in terms of epicness and intensity: Dianne van Giersbergen >>> Tarja Turunen ANY DAY. Manuela Kraller seems as a dramatic soprano to me, so the same can be said about her with even bigger confidence.

I found this band by accident while searching for a different one and I clicked it out of curiosity. I am glad I did because she has a stunningly beautiful voice and I love the way she dresses. I'm not usually into metal (it is metal, right? sorry, I'm not always sure what genre a band fits into) but I like them. Maybe the lead vocals being female has something to do with it, I don't know. But I always enjoy finding new music that I end up liking.

When i hear this song or ‘Upon fallen autumn leaves’ by haggard, I can’t help but wonder how Manuela might have fared as lead singer in nightwish I adore floor like a lot loved her way before her nightwish days totally loved after forever and revamp, but I feel that Manuela’s vocals the operatic nature fit more closely to the Tarja era nightwish sound than floors classically influenced vocals, I’m not saying any are the better singer because all three are favourite vocalists of mine but for what I liked about nightwish I think Manuela would’ve been perfect
I miss this album. Badly. Although Xandria's music before and after was very good, this album is something else. Just pure magic.
I've listened a little bit of this new band (or older according to wikipedia) and IT SOUNDS SURPRISINGLY GOOD. A Gothic band with symphonic metal and rock metal. I like this and I will certainly follow them more closely.
Wow, this is the first Manuela song I've heard of Xandria, and I'm loving this! Definitely better than Nightfall, which is the only other Xandria song I've heard.

Heads up! I'm one hell of a Nightwish fan and have been for yyeeaarrss, so baring that in mind, don't compare Xandria to Nightwish. It's roughly like comparing Ferrari to Lamborghini. Both are super cars.. but both are totally different. Xandria has qualities LIKE Nightwish of old, but NW is going in a slightly different direction now. Xandria very much has their own sound.
Xandria is excellent and I recommend them to anyone who likes this genre. They have a fantastic sound. The symphonic world is happy to have this band. :)

Not gonna lie, Manuela is absolutely my favorite Xandria singer. I never liked Lisa, and Dianne's voice is too boring. Manuela was the only singer who had a really powerful, deep operatic voice. Even the guitar riffs and drum lines sounded better during NWE era. I can't believe she's gone after only 1 album :(
Agree 100% Manuela brought magic to the band and its gone. The new chicks voice is one dimensional and boring.

@mcuffinerson, Totally disagree, I loved Lisa and now I love the new singer Dianne, her voice is beautiful the songs are better she looks great too. The new album is so much better then the last one in my opinion. I was not a big fan of Neverworld's End but i am a fan of Sacrificium and the older albums.Not gonna lie, Manuela never really did anything for me she was OK but Lisa was better and i lost interest in the band for a while when they change there sound but now Dianne is the singer i am starting to love the band again :)
It's a real shame that Manuella leaves. Neverworlds End was by far their best album, one that I really love. I am verry happy now that I have seen them live in their (so far) best composition. Manuella had an amazing voice live, I really hope they will still make music that great with the new singer, and they will perform live just as good, or even better. But I will really miss Manuella in this band :(

Stop comparing Manuela with Tarja, PLEASE. They may sound a bit similiar but it doesn't mean that "Oh Manu tries to sound like Tarja Xandria is a copycat" NO ONE CAN CHOOSE THEIR VOICES.
It's an Opera voice. They're going to sound quite the same anyways. Singing notes pure does that. Less uniqueness.

I love all three singers!! Lisa had more of a softer voice that was more calming. Manuela has a Powerful, Strong, operatic voice. Then you have the new singer thats in my opinion just right. Not too over powering and not too soft.

man it's already the 2nd quarter of 2020 and here I am still into their music...
Just because Tarja is best known than Manuela, doesn't mean she is better. I think that Manuela is one of the best classical singers in metal bands. In other words, I guess that Manuela is better than Tarja. I love both, but Manuela is unique. In fact, Neverworld's End is my favorite album from Symphonic Metal.

Though I love Neverworld's End and Sacrificium equally and Manuela and Dianne equally.
Also this: Xandria-defending time. A lot people who have heard the symphonic metal band Xandria say they are simply a "not-bad" or "Hm... It's close as quality" clone of Nightwish. Now, that I learned more about soprano types and thought and analysed even deeper, I can even better argue with this opinion.
For me, Xandria is an "upgraded" version of Nightwish. They are way more epic. Now I will explain why.
1/ The vocal harmonies are more intense, bigger, wider, with more voices, more often and more accented. (e.g. especially the 3:41 part of Nightfall, the Pactum Fraudis part in Valentine at 2:31. You can't see that intense, epic, powerful and high-pitched vocal harmonies in any Nightwish song, right? And it’s only one part of one song that has a few more parts like that, while there are around 2 more douzens of songs that are around the levels of Valentine or even MORE intense and epic than Valentine (e.g. nearly the basically whole Nightfall except the guitar solo literally doesn’t let you breathe because of that kind of vocal harmonies))
2/ There are some occasional choirs and they have a gothic hint in a big part of their songs. (e.g. A Prophecy of Worlds to Fall; We Are Murderers; Cursed; Burn Me; Nightfall; Stardust; Betrayer and more). The gothic hint make them also more variable than the nearly only symphonic power metal-based Nightwish.
Before we go to №3, I have to explain the differences between the soprano types. Lyric soprano is a soprano that has enough power to only be heard over the orchestra but doesn't really shine with power, epicness, intensity. They are best at spinning out long, delicate, lyric lines. This is usually calmer, right? A dramatic soprano is usually a soprano with a bit lower/smaller range but has a REALLY powerful voice and sends shivers down the spine and makes you full goosebumps with thoughts like "WOW, this is unbelievably epic, powerful and intense". They are best at punching out very dramatic passages. A spinto soprano is a soprano that is between the 2 and combines the characteristics of the 2. Spintos can both easily hit the high notes of a lyric soprano, yet can be "pushed" on to achieve dramatic climaxes without strain.
So here we come to 3:
3/ Tarja is a lyric soprano. Dianne van Giersbergen is a spinto soprano (I thought for a long time she was a dramatic one but this is actually better because it is both Tarja and epicness at the same time). So, in terms of epicness and intensity:
Dianne van Giersbergen >>> Tarja Turunen ANY DAY. Manuela Kraller seems as a dramatic soprano to me, so the same can be said about her with even bigger confidence.
