The shot with a tree swallow catching a feather mid-air was insane 👏
YES! I've been checking your channel diligently scared I missed en episode.
Same!! I literally just checked yesterday. My anxiety was getting worried for Stefano 😂 so glad to see an update/upload
Me too! I just went through all my subscriptions to check today, what timing! I love these videos so much!
Easily my favourite RUclips channel
OMG SAME!
Agree. Stefano, way too long :(
it takes to much effort to make such videos, kudos to your dedication! love from india!
So kind, thank you!
I have such respect for your process and knowledge. Understanding sustainable habitats and biomes as well as the necessary flora and fauna for native species to flourish. The effort, time, work, and technical skills needed to not only create this space, but to get ASTOUNDING shots and editing+soundtrack. Lets also not forget the willpower to NOT check up on the nests 50 times a day and leave nature to it's course. Just 15/10
So kind of you, it means a lot!!
A 100% yes!!!
I agree 100%!
Incredible! 2000 plants and many projects sure explains why you haven't uploaded in a while. Time to loop some of your content to get you ad revenue.
Glad you enjoyed!
How lovely! Just YESTERDAY I was here, feeling a bit blue, looking at the videos in the channel, and wishing there was a new one. Thank you, Stefano. Thank you.
Good timing haha. Thanks for waiting and watching :)
Always a great day when you upload
Haha thank you! Hope you enjoy the vid!
Your cinematography, music, editing, etc - perfect partner to the cast and crew! TFS
So kind of you, thanks so much!
i love how depending on the bird species sometimes mom broods the nest and does the feeding, sometimes they swap, etc
Nature does what it does but thanks so much for giving the natives both fauna and flora a fighting chance!
Incredible bird shots!! Particularly them catching insects!
Thank you!
This year we had House Wrens nesting in a box in our yard, this was the first year it wasn’t taken over by invasive House Sparrows. Sadly only 1 wren made it. But it was still great to have a nest I could observe so close by
Glad one was able to make it! If you have House Wrens and you want to keep away House Sparrows, you can make boxes with nest holes between 1" and 1.25". Wrens are small enough to make it in, and the house sparrows won't be able to get in those boxes :)
You are a treasure, preserving other treasures!
Dude this has been one of the best series i've watched on YT, great great work!
Thanks so much!
I wonder if the native plugs will struggle to compete with all the grasses. It might be easier to clean an area of grass or choose a clearer area. I think you will have a higher success rate.
Planting natives is vital. Congrats on all the work you are doing.
Yeah definitely! I do think I'll have more success in the pine stand where there was way less vegetation. But I also wanted to do a test with the plugs in an existing meadow to see what the success rate is like. I'll be curious to see what the results are next year!
Crazy how we all in the comments are glad you uploaded, and we've been here frequently checking for video uploads😅. Was hoping for an hour long one but at this point I'll take this 22 min one 😌
Haha, I've been busy but I finally have some time to sit down and edit. I'll have an hour+ long video down the road to wrap up year two though :)
@@StefanoIaniro can't wait!!!
@@StefanoIaniro I am so looking forward to that. Excellent work. 👍🏻♥️
When will the next one be @@StefanoIaniro
Quality over quantity
American robins are weird birds, not even finished the video and they are so different from our robins
Yeah I think the American robin was named after the European robin, just based off of its looks. Behavior-wise they're quite different.
I have 4 cats. Three of them don't care what you do but Sws loves watching your birds. She looked visibly angry when the murder mouse appeared. 💚
Haha that’s awesome. Mine looks around my laptop when the bird sounds start playing. She doesn’t understand screens too well
First time this early woo hoo also the things you’re doing are insanely good for the environment props to you bro . Not to mention the work time and money put into what your doing your a good dude bro
Thanks so much! 🙂

Come on, that's just heartbreaking 14:10 .
Very much so!
I had no idea mice would do that - rats, yes, mice no. 😢
Its nature lad@@pollytiks3885
Insects pay their dime too
i audibly gasped and yelled "NOOO" :(((
Seeing the growth of nests looks wonderful! Looks like yall are getting more birds enjoying the natural home you are creating for them. Also, very happy to see this new video as I check your channel 2 or 3 times a week for any updates : ) Looking forward to your continued progress and learning experiences.
Thanks so much!
I truly appreciate the exceptional quality of your content-it's always a pleasure to watch. Your dedication really shines through in every frame! 💕💕
Thanks so much!
This is arguably the most bingable ongoing series in the whole of youtube, I just discovered your channel and have _easily_ consumed the last 13 or so episodes in one go! It's so exciting to watch season by seasons as you do more and more work as more and more wildlife flock to your homestead. You're such an amazingly talented and hardworking guy. This channel is so heartwarming ☺☺
Those tree swallow nests look super cozy.
The content is incredible and the way you narrate the story is also very nice.
I appreciate the way you are maintaining the biodiversity and the balance in the nature.
Amazing update.
Thank you very much :)
Thanks so much!
Remarkable bird photography❤️❤️❤️ and accompanying audio! I always look forward to another video installment of how you are managing your landscape with more native plants for the birds and other pollinators. I am in awe of your commitment, hard work, and accomplishments.
Another great video! The success of the different species raising young on your property is a testament to your hard work!
Thanks so much :)
The same thing happened with a pair Chickadees and Tree Swallows in my backyard. Once I saw that they both had an interest in the nest box, I put another one out, which the Swallows took to.
Just goes to show how important nest boxes can be 🙂 Hope they had a good nesting season!
That’s great! I’m happy that both were happy and had a good nesting experience.
@@StefanoIaniroThey did! Both species raised a pair of five chicks, and all successfully fledged!
I love seeing how life thrives in your homestead! 💪👍
Thank you!
A new video from Stefano!! It's a good day.
Haha, hope you enjoyed it :)
I always like your video in advance
cuz I know if its Stefano , than its good
Haha so kind of you, thanks!
Beautiful as always! There are only few channels on youtube that get me excited like yours does, whenever a new video pops up on the for-you-page. Keep it up, and thank you for sharing!
You're very kind, thank you!
you're an incredible, incredible person and i feel so grateful to have stumbled upon your channel.

Absolutely incredible footage. Thank you so much for sharing.
I’m glad the homestead birds had a great season!
Hi Stefano absolutely love these videos best ever, here in the UK my widlife pond has begun really well always wanna see Canada. Nice video
Thank you! and I'm glad to hear the pond's doing well!
Thanks!
Oh wow, that's insane! Thanks so much, it really means a lot!
I'm so happy you posted i have been watching every video back just waiting for your next post
So kind, glad you enjoyed!
Still my top 5 channels on RUclips! Keep it up dude! I’m loving ur commentary and the honest look at where to go from here. Well done!
Great to hear, thank you!
My favorite channel. I love how I feel watching this.
Yay! Thanks so much :)
Have been waiting for this new episode =D Welcome back!
Yay, hope you enjoyed it!
Haha!! (and I'm sorry!) It's absolutely true how our location affects our perception of certain species as we grow educated on what is native and how plants have spread (intentionally and not) through human interaction with the land. As a North American I know goldenrod as one of our most important flowering plants for pollinators and insects, and a joyful signal of autumn bounty! I aim to balance its spreading tendencies with other natives that do the same :D Good luck in cultivating and supporting the plants native to your area!
My most anticipated video of the year!
Yay, enjoy!
Thanks for your effort, so well done. Do you also have nesting boxes for owls?
Thank you! And yes, I have a couple for Barred Owls and I'm adding more this year for Saw-whets. They're still new so it might take some time for them to find it
Good hear from you Stefano.
Hi Stefano! Where do you get your information about native plant species and how to counter invasive ones?
Depending where you live, you should be able to find native plant books/websites for your region. We have articles that the government and universities put out about natives/invasives, so I would start there. I get my info from everywhere tbh, but I mostly focus on native plant books that I've had from school.
@@StefanoIaniro thank you, I appreciate everything you’re doing.
You have accomplished more in the short time you have been there than most people do in 20 years.
I once saw a chipmunk finish off a bunch of baby robins in their nest whereas when the same attempt was made towards the blue jays babies, both parents killed the chipmunk!
Makes one understand the different dispositions of birds and how it relates to their survival.
I always look forward to your videos and the stellar footage! 😊
Thank you! And woah, that must've been something to watch. As the chipmunk learned, no such thing as an easy meal in nature!
@@StefanoIaniro How true!
Last comment after full watching your video. Just awesome your video quality and your voice. We are waiting your next video.. May allah pray for you.

I ENJOYED THIS EMENSELY.....BLESSINGS DARLING BOY FROM GRANNY LINDA IN OZ..........
please upload more I love your videos so much
The most lovely channel on youtube
Wow, incredible! The variety of food sources that the eastern bluebirds were collecting for their young really is a testament to the work you have done in improving the habitat. I am currently building some boxes to attract Spotted Flycatchers a migrant we have in the UK. I was wondering what bird box camera do you use? and what are the dimensions of the bird boxes you create?
Thanks so much! Every box is different depending on the species I'm trying to attract. It would be different for the species you have in the UK. If you are adding a camera though, keep in mind you'll need to have extra space above the nest entrance so you can fit the camera. So the recommended dimensions you get from bird box plans will likely need to be modified to fit your camera. I'm using a camera from a company called Green Backyard I think? But I don't really like it tbh, so it's not a piece of gear I'd recommend.
Wonderful video! Thanks Stefano! 🐦❤
Really glad you liked it!
@@StefanoIaniro I'm really glad you made it!!! 😉 😉
Amazing video. Keep up the good work please
I wish Eastern phoebe would eat all the mosquitoes around. 🤣
If you have any intention of opening your land for recreational activities like hiking, I'll be there. 😃 Although my property is much smaller than yours, I'm also planting native flowers for birds. I also have 5 Wild Choke Cherry trees (Prunus virginiana). They are still small but they are growing. I also need to build nests and install them in February. I don't know if I'll ever have any Swallows nesting in my area.
We have a couple larger chokecherries at the front that produce a good crop every year. If it's anything like here, expect a ton of Robins and Waxwings in your trees when they start producing! It's such a magnet for birds. And in terms of swallows, it all depends on your habitat. Some open areas and a medium - large sized water source definitely help!
@@StefanoIaniro Did you get bats to inhabit the boxes you made for them?
Your a hero i just watched your video from 1 year ago, taht you made about that little lake you made you helped our economy system and it takes time making these videos. Your a hero and remember that!
Yes i liked my own comment cuz it has no likes 😢

Mr. Stefano!! Missed you man!! ❤ you’re so heccin awesome.. I love every video you post!! I hope you’re doing well yourself, you put so much time and effort in to capturing this amazing content for us!!
Oh, dunno if I had this name since last time I commented, but I’m Tiggy, the one always asking about the snakes 😂 the birdos are so adorable, sad to see a clutch get taken, but circle of life I guess!!
Thank you for another great video! Your videos are National Geographic level content. The videography is top knotch.
I truly appreciate the time and effort it takes you to bring this videos to us. I always learn so much from you. Thank you 👍🏻♥️
Thanks so much!
Did the mouse eat part of the chicks, or just kill them and leave?
First night it killed them and mostly went for the brains, then it came back and scavenged little bits here and there.
@@StefanoIaniroI understand the need for the mouse to have good hunting skills too. But I’m sorry for the little babies. Good thing is the pair got busy and started over. I expect this happens more often than we know. Your cameras give a peek into this world. Thank you.
That was my first thought too. I posted my question right away without checking the comments first. It does make me feel better that the mouse used what it killed
Your bond with nature is truly incredible, every upload is pure bliss for the soul.
Thank you from Denmark
Would you mind adding to your gear list the cameras you use for the nest camera in the bird houses? Great image quality and brightness. Thanks for the great video.
I had no idea mice could be a threat to baby birds! 😰 and 2000 plants is CRAZY, what an incredible amount of dedication!!
Thank you for your videos, just amazing all the skills and love you invest!
Wow thanks so much for the support, very kind!
Mother nature can be so & too cruel at times. I know other animals have to eat but there is one thing I cannot so do not watch is anything showing other animals killing or hunting on each other. As soon as I saw what that mouse was going to do - I bailed out. No, not squeamish or anything like that it is just that life is too short as it is. Life is precious.
Hey Tiggy! Hope you're doing well. Thanks for the kind words!

Amazing video. How does so much light enter the birdboxes?
Thanks! I have a small cutout on the side of the box that I cover with frosted Plexiglass. The cutout is facing Northeast so it lets more light in, but doesn't let the hot sun shine through

Any update on the half acre food forest this year ? :)
It was a good year for blueberries in there but most of the trees and shrubs I planted are still too small to produce any fruit, so not a whole lot going on in there at the moment.
