      it´s a CT-91A the A has calibration knobs and not using amourphous heads,and it´s a URUSHI version of the CT-939MKII

    Hmm... the T-838 doesn't sound very pleasant. It's very... sterile and kinda annoying even. The T-555WR sounds pretty decent, although the W&F kinda ruins it a bit, especially deck 2. And the CT-91a sounds very good. Definitely the winner from the comparison.

    Uau! Great "sounds"! So pleasant I could be all day listening!
    At 22:27 as a reference point, it’s noticeable when previous music is finishing a "hiss" starts growing and stays at a certain level during the "silence" between the tracks. At the moment the next music starts that " hiss" suddenly fades out almost disappearing and be indetectable as the music's playing. Why is this happening? (Any Dolby effect?).
    And once more, for share with us your good taste for music, playing through those untold "old" machines that a lot of people never believe could sound so beautifully and so accurate, THANKS!

      No, this is how Garage Band from Apple records - it increases sensitivity in sound absence

      the hiss only exists in this decks if magnetised heads or dirty also the cassettes are really bad and were cheaper

    • @RUfromthe40s
      @RUfromthe40s 3 месяца назад

      no hiss in this recorders ,only if the heads are dirty or magnatised but the cassettes are very bad ones so might be from the cheap cassettes as the chrome ones from sony were more expensive, or the original recording as it

    838 vs 93 ????

  • @sc0or
    @sc0or 3 месяца назад +1

    91. of course. Balalaika had just unpleasant sound, and 838 had no dynamics enough, so cymbals completely disappeared during a loud sound at mid/low frequencies.

      this is what youtube makes to sound in reality both are very good but the T-838 or CT-959 or CT-93 is far better but both some of the best ever made no nakamichi even in perfect condition like i have them and only top end models cames near this two, they surprised me so much that i bought the CT-91A ,the CT-959 and the CT-979 or with a litle improvements not in recording quality the CT-93, the urushi version of the CT-979

    T-838 non e' equivalente del CT-93,CT-93 ha dolby s,hx pro,autocalibrazione

    • @hifirulezzz
      @hifirulezzz  3 месяца назад

      Schematic and sound wise are the very same. Just one more IC and few passive parts for automatic tuning. And I would always prefer manual tuning over automatic. Dolby S is a gimmick, does not matter.

    T-838 wins by a country mile. Full bodied and highly detailed. CT-91a slightly pinched sound. T-555WR slightly distorted veil but very little.

      the bottom one as improved sound both good but the bottom one was more evolved and sounded more close to the source if a good cd or record was recorded, they are both top end decks ,one from late 80´s other from 91the CT-959 wich only differs a litle from the CT-979 in the calibration method, the bottom one in it´s URUSHI version is the incrdible good CT-93, no nakamichi comes near it and i have them so i know and here on youtube the sound is far from the real sound

  • @RUfromthe40s

    those sony were very bad and cheaper than a UX-pro but i know the diference between those three the double is kind of in your face sound ,the other two have deeper sound but the CT-959 or T-838 as the amourphous heads who can make a copy with more real sound as in instruments being played near you, or 2D, 3D and 3Deeper, from top to bottom, but the sony metal XR and XS are a very bad cassette it might sound good but far from the UX-pro or sa-x both type II ,metal good tapes from sony were the metal-ES and metal master ,the XS and XR were cheaper and not good as any chrome tape people bought them but with a very short quality recording as in after some listenings become not that good sounding also sold very cheap when new, a sony HF-S type I was more expensive
