- Well, I tried to upload this originally with the "Superman" theme song, but RUclips decided to remove the audio, which ruined the entire video. So, here is a reupload of the video with the song "Requiem for a Dream," which is also quite beautiful. Again, I did not personally create the list (TCM did) and while there are some omissions (where the heck is Orson Welles?!), it is not my fault. Anyways, I still hope you enjoy the video!

when I was a little kid I got to meet Robert Mitchum at O'hare airport in Chicago.Whoever voted thumbs down, must not appreciate the true acting ability of these excellent actors. Maybe there isn't enough stuff blowing up,no gimmicks, that type of thing. Thank-you for downloading this for the rest of us to enjoy.Micheline Kribs. Rolla,MO
Missed, Tyrone Power, Jefrey Hunter, Montgomery Cliff ♥♥
mont in.
I suppose this is taken out of the TCM book, which ignored the 20th Century Fox Stars. I have news for them. Tyrone Power was the 21st most popular male star of all time, and that includes Leonardo di Caprio, Mr. Pitt, Cruise, all of them. I hate the way they skew history because they don't own someone's films.
Everyone on this list beats all the actors film careers combined of today!!!!! :)
And where is Glenn Ford? Excellent actor, and he belongs on any list of "Unforgetables" from the 20th century.
YES
I understand why they could only include so many, but they overlooked quite a few. Tyrone Power, Richard Widmark, Don Ameche, Dana Andrews, Glenn Ford, etc.
those are 20th Century Fox stars and TCM doesn't own their films so don't look for them on any list of TCMs. Glenn Ford, I have no idea why they ignore him.
WHERES TYRONE POWER,oh yeah I forgot TCM only plays m.g.m movies and he was with fox...bob hope?
Ahhh yes: Rock freakin' Hudson! What a hunk of man...I can't even. If there was only one picture that could define "handsome" in the dictionary, it would be of him. Adore him ❤
I still watch these guy's films constantly. To me they're still alive in a way. Like friends I lost contact with, but they're still out there somewhere.
Where in God's name is TYRONE POWER?
Glad you had John Garfield on there...one of the best and most forgotten actors ever!!
And Tyrone Power? He is one of the most unforgettable actor, too!
They forgot Glenn Ford. Again. They always forget him. He was under contract to Columbia and he was the top box-office male star for at least one or two years in the late '50. Unforgettable in The Big Heat, The Blackboard Jungle, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, Pocketful of Miracles, Mr. Soft Touch, etc. etc. etc. He should have gotten at least an honorary lifetime achievement Oscar.
GLENN FORD. Don't forget him.
Glenn Ford was in many great films. Don't forget Affair in Trinidad, Gilda, Jubal, and 3:10 to Yuma.
I'm surprised he's not on this list.
He is vastly underrated. So sad, but at least not forgotten.
Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Gene Kelly all of them = super adorable I love you all!!!!!! :) 3
Charlton Heston was not there? Ben Hur, Ten Commandments. Planet of the apes, plus many many more! That's just odd he was not there?! Robert Montgomery!
And where is Tyrone Power! He was so handsome and sexy! Don't forget him, please!! Thanks!
Yes you missed Orson Welles....Only 2 remains from the list...Kirk Douglas (oldest actor to be still alive) and Sydney Poitier
What about Tony Curtis, Montgomery Cliff, James Mason, James Cagney, Lee Marvin, Omar Sharif, George Kennedy, Alec Guiness, Clint Eastwood, George C. Scott, Jason Robards, Peter Sellers, Richard Burton, Peter Finch, Woody Allen, Groucho Marx..and many more. Top class actors.
Oh Montgomery Cliff!!! He was so yummy.
Montgomery Clift and James Cagney were mentioned.
My goodness, a lot of them died so young and yet others lived to ripe old ages in spite of their ‘active’ lifestyles, terrific pics and clips though👏👏
Excellent compilation of the greatest actors of all time. I know it's all disputable but my no.1 is Paul Newman
These men and actors and actresses above and beyond this is the best of what we had the decade was wonderful back in the thirties and forties
My only complain would be Tyrone Powell and Tony Curtis missing and maybe Charlton Helston (or is he more recent era)
yes i was wondering where those three were plus Richard Widmark and Lee Marvin
and Glen Ford Richard Burton
Power not Powell.
Glenn Ford ? Anthony Perkins ? John Gavin ? ... CHARLTON HESTON ????
Congratulations. To me, the names missing are: Jeff Chandler, Tony Curtis, Audie Murphy (they were the ones who saved Universal Pictures in the 50s), and Charlton Heston.
Oh Audie Murphy!!!! Yummy!!!!
The Music is so creepy
Where's Ty Power?
Where are Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy??
Was Glenn Ford on this list? If not, why not? He was voted most favorite male actor in the whole world in 1958.
Cordelia Brown plzzzz
I agree ; these are the most famous and remembered.....
Robert Taylor 💖 ❤️ 💖 ❤️ 💖 ❤️
My absolute favorite!
Music is really well, works with the actors.
monty clift is really unforgatable. love!
There are so many amazing men from that era to choose from, I think you did an amazing job. They don't make them like they used to. Strong, honourable, sexy!
Orson Welles should definitely be on the list and if it wasn't in alphabetical order, I'd say way up at the top. Also, Joseph Cotton.
They could replace Peter O'Toole and Anthony Quinn.
"As God As My Witness..." I liked your music very much.
My top three
The beautiful Gregory Peck
Rock Hudson
Gary Cooper
Yay, Fred Astaire, Ronald Colman, Alan Ladd!
Nice.
Lovely special Era.
Charlton Heston should have been on this list! Could have made it 51 Most Unforgettable Men!
You forgot Stewart Granger and Victor Mature as well as Vincent Price, Tony Curtis, Robert Ryan or Orson Welles.
Errol Forever Flynn
So glad they included Rudolph Valentino. :)
Where's Glenn Ford??!! He was one of the greatest and the most handsome
Como siempre, se han olvidado de Elvis Presley
How about Jerry Lewis, Rod Stieger , Randolf Scott so many more
jerry lewis?????
Yes! You left out my favorite! Orson Welles!
Nice list! Missing Glenn Ford though--he def should have been included. Jack Lemmon was under contract in the 50s to Columbia--so I can see why he is there. Not sure about McQueen though--didn't he come around in the 60s?
What about Yul Bryner?
james cagney,
The most dynamic, Massa. A fizzing firecracker!
I totally forgot that two men are missing, too. Some of the best actors ever, Alec Guinness and James Mason. I know that they were from Britain, but they had great Hollywood careers, too.
Where's James Mason? And Richard Burton?
Oh Richard Burton!!!! Yummy!!!
Yay on Richard Burton. That man was sex...and made it seem so effortless, almost like an afterthought, which of course made him even more attractive 😍
Way to go Kurt, still standing the last of the golden dayz,
Alas...
John Garfield's death saddens me the most.
Oh, my God, where's Orson Welles??! I can't believe it. Of course, I would like to see Joseph Cotten or Dana Andrews, too, and some other fellas, but Orson is unforgivable.
Tony Curtisssss💖💖💖
Tyrone Powell Glen Ford
So MANY swoon worthy faves...thanks;D
Clint Walker wasn't treated very well by WB, but he was the best onscreen and off, and unforgettable to his legion of fans.
wheres TYRONE POWER and ramon novarro
Peter O'Toole came in at the very end of the studio system, but so did Robert Redford, who should also be included.
tyrone power, berimore, charles buck rogers,
Who was Berimore and Charles Buck Rogers??
Great list!
My mom is 87..... she said back in the day everybody smoked.. thankfully it's not like that anymore
Missing Robert Preston and George Raft!
The golden era actors go hard.
Sidney Poitier is great.
off-putting music. not that i care for him, but certainly tyrone power was a name. also - dick powell, dana andrews, ray milland, glenn ford, alec guiness, james mason, charles laughton, fred macmurray, walter pidgeon, danny kaye, et al. but very good nonetheless
Tyrone Power was named King of Hollywood three times and even today with modern actors is #77 box office of all time. He's left off this list because TCM doesn't own his films.
Randolph Scott.
Steve McQueen belongs to the 1960s-1970s and therefore I would not have included him in this list.
Left out 2 of the biggest stars of all time. Charlton Heston, Randolph Scott. You telling me that Sinatra was more important Actor than Heston. Poor job.
Charlton Heston was amazing! That deep voice of his was pure actor star!
@@7777lizabeth stiff as a board
There's more emphasis on putting great CGI effects in movies today to worry about putting good actors/actresses in them. Not saying that there's no acting abilities out there, but it could be a lot better.
Needs some more character actors. Claude Rains would've been a good addition.
Elvis number one
Sal Mineo is NEVER mentioned on these kinds of lists...or any lists for that matter. 😒
Why isn't Sterling Hayden on the list? Unforgettable? Incredibly much so!
Where is Dean Martin ? 😍
Edmund OBrien ❤️
My love platonic !¡¡ Gregory .. 😍❤anda where, s Charlton Heston ?
james stewart the love of my life!!!! but u forgot tony curtis
Where is Claude Rains?
Joseph Cotten (Shadow of a doubt, the third man) and Rex Harrison (Cleopatra, My fair lady) are missing
Great video, i love William Holden but you missed someone very important: where's Donald O'Connor?
James mason should have been among one of the most handsome also
If Peter O'Toole can get a deserved nod, then where is Richard Harris?? Orson Welles, how could they have left him off? Who screwed up massively there? Wow!
Peter O'Toole wasn't part of the studio system. Leave it to TCM not to know film history. 1960 is not the studio system. The monopoly decision was before that.
Why is it that when people mention Classic Actors they never mention Ray Milland? He can fit into any category: Studio System, Oscar Winner, Classic Films, and he was extremely Handsome. He had a lot of great film history( TV and Radio too).
where id Glenn Ford
Kirk and Sidney are the only two still alive in 2019
Robert Montgomery? Fred MacMurray? Wallace Berry? Cesar Romero? Cornell Wilde?
Where is Tony Curtis
Laura schnorri plzzzzz
Charlie Chaplin #1
John Wayne #2
Burt Lancaster #3
Great Performers
And Genious'
Don't really know . But was McQueen and Newman contract players ? Always thought the contract system was almost over with when they came along .
Charlton Heston not sure either .
But Glen Ford and the others . Come on .
Best generation ever World War II male and female no one will ever replace them
Is Steve McQueen of the 'studio era'? And the music makes it sound like something terrible is happening.
Mr. Zorro Tyrone Powers and Glen Ford Richard Burton not on the list
Is a crime to have forgotten Orson Welles. How is it possible? TCM, because it has neglected Orson Welles? For example I would not have included in the list Jack Lemmon. The Studio Era/Golden years are 1920s-1930s-1940s and 1950s. Jak Lemmon belongs mainly to the 1960s and 1970s. Another great actor forgot, is Lionel Barrymore! I'm glad there is his brother John!
For the rest, is a excellent list! Thank you for sharing this! Much appreciated!
Only 2 out of the 50 mentioned are still alive. Minus Mickey Rooney becuase he's dead now but he wasn't when this was made.
They forgot Van Johnson
John Wayne was the man but I also loved Jeff Chandler.
Where was James Mason?
