@@applegeek2597 I think it fits pretty well actually, if you think about it Celestia was the one who told Twilight that Sombra was the one who banished the empire. when Luna started stuttering and caged up about what happened it seemed like she was afraid of the truth because she didn't fully understand what got into her. When Celestia said "how much hatred and power were we truly facing?" I feel like Luna was afraid of Celestia being scared of her so she let her think it was Sombra and not her. She lied about what happened to protect the relationship she had with Celestia and let her think she had nothing to do with it.
I like to think that Luna had turned to Nightmare Moon in that scene because she literally is the living embodiment of the moon. She has two sides. A light side and a dark side. And I feel that Sombra's magic awoke her dark side instead of making her see her worst fear like Celestia.
Some people interpreted this animation as theorizing that Luna's dark side was strengthened by coming into contact with Sombra's dark magic. Thus, the Nightmare Moon persona became nearly strong enough to take control permanently, only needing another moment of emotional weakness to tip the balance. Perhaps Luna would have eventually succumbed to her negative thoughts regardless, but this event may have sped up the process (which would explain why Luna's banishment occurred so soon after this battle, both having been recorded as 1,000-year-old events).
Like with Twilight, 1,000 years later, Sombra was showing Celestia her worst fears. when he did it to Luna, Luna had been fighting becoming Nightmare Moon for centuries, so she was able to, sort of, 'ride out' the effect... since it was far less than she had already been through. re-watch the MLP episode crystal empire and see Twilight's and Spikes eyes change looking into the doorway into your worst fears. This introduces the possibility that sombra wasn''t the one that banished the empire. It was LUNA. Also, sombra gave luna the thought of making the night known, she would've never thought of that, because at 6:42 luna looks back as if she was considering what sombra said, like she agrees with him. One of the best pony animations from the fandom.🙂 King Sombra is sadly the most underrated villain in the series(and I like him too). It's a shame we didn't get that much characterization from him in the same way from this particular video. Sure we did get a glimpse of what he's capable of in S3 and S5 with that alternate timeline, but it would be great if the character of Sombra was fleshed out a bit more.

Ahh, well the nature of the spell makes sense, but it wouldn't have been Luna turning into Nightmare Moon again, but rather for the first time. This event occurred before Luna first became Nightmare Moon, but Celestia likely suspected that the darkness was already growing in her sister, and knowing that, her worst fear would've been the full manifestation of that darkness, i.e. Nightmare Moon.
About that spell - it's spell was in MLP:FIM 3S2E. Do you remember the door? Everyone who was traped by spell have "green eyes". About elements - elements just give chanse to come close to him for first shot.(i think) And i think Nightmare Moon banished the empier. I think I can answer a few of your question u said ^^ first these green eyes are the result of sombras magic Remember the season 3 premiere where twi tries to open the door at the bottom of this staircais? It was entchanted with sombras magic a mind spell to let you face your greatest fear. In twis case it was failing tias mission In tias case it was loosing luna to her dark side she saw nightmare moon in her dream thing. In lunas case it was also becoming nightmare moon but she had to face this fear every night when she sleeps so sombras magic didnt worked. Instead we can see a small foreshadowing to the future cause that was maybe the first time she transforms into nightmare moon to defeat sombra due to his words and his mind magic kinda did the rest ^^ Hope I could answer a few of your question u had :D
I'm like 4 years late but I always like to think Luna's spirit is like the moon: half light and half dark. The essence of Sombra's dark magic was absorbed by Luna's own darkness and it triggered her to become Nightmare Moon. Usually a pony is incapacitated by his magic to make you see your worst fear. But not Luna because it worked alongside her darkness. That's just my own take on this story.
About the green eye stuff, if you go back to season 3 ep 1-2 when twilight is under the spell from the door at the bottm of tthe stair, she have the same greenish glow to her eye. If i remember correctly the spell from that door show you your worst fear. In that case, Sombra doesn't need to know celestia's fear to put her under the spell but it certainly looks like he can see what his victim "nightmare" are. Now about Luna, as the guardian of dream i'm pretty sure she know how to handle a nightmare or too ... however, it seem that sombra magic triggered something in her.

Just saying there is a theory saying that sombra was indeed an alicorn but starswirl used an item we know as the alicorn amulet which made him a unicorn again as with the founding of equestria he could have been king of the unicorns at that time but then when celestia and luna took the throne he grew jealous and used a spell to transform into an alicorn and overpowered the sisters but starswirl didn’t let him stay in power for long and used the alicorn amulet and took his wings but realizing that the amulet would corrupt the user he hid somewhere safe until ofc trixie used it and twilight and her friends had to trick her then it got put back in hiding never to be seen again.
I have a theory as to why luna was good when facing sombra as nightmare moon but got banished because of nightmare moon the next time. Luna didn’t realize she wasn’t noticed as much as her sister and wasn’t jealous but when she realized she couldn’t control herself because she was to jealous of her sister and became the evil version of nightmare moon as told in the show my little pony: friendship is magic in the first two episodes but why was she surprised to see her sister when transformed back to luna. Was she scared she wouldn’t let her come rule with her or was she just surprised that celestia was there? Did she even know where celestia vanished to or how she got there? How do the elements of harmony even work and why are they only able to be used by certain pony’s? Why did the pillars not talk to stigian to try and figure out what he was doing with the pillars stuff in the first place? What would have happened if the pony of shadows never existed? There are so many things that we don’t know about equestria we don’t even know why the founders named the land equestria. Was it a word in another language that meant harmony or was it because they thought it was the best name for the land? Who are celestia and luna’s parents? Were they alicorns or unicorns? Where are celestia and luna’s parents during the show? Are the dead? Are they just in the ever free forest? Why haven’t we seen celestia and luna’s parents before?
i want to see the Canon version of this battle. tho Nightmare Moon fully awakened would devastate sombra considering she was even strong enough to stall out the elements albeit temporary and magic strength is enough to easily raise the moon

I have a theory about Nightmare Moon from this video. What if even though she was Nightmare Moon, she was good, but then she used it again and instead of using her to protect Equestria, like a super form she uses Nightmare Moon to try to take over Equestria and bring eternal night!
Maybe her jealousy made nightmare moon uncontrollable for luna which is why she turned evil but in this she was trying to protect her sister that she cared deeply about so she could control nightmare moon better then when she got banished.
I love Luna she's my favorite Princess, although Twilight is my favorite character out of the Princesses (If that makes sense) And while I love Luna I think Celestia should have gotten a little bit more screen time, fight scenes, don't get me wrong it's great and everything I still love this fan work but yeah I just felt like Celestia should have been on screen a little more; and I'm a Luna fan! Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
Yeah, it did appear as though there was bias towards Luna here. That said, the focus of the story was intentionally on her for the interaction with Sombra, so it's understandable. Hey, at least we got to see Celestia actually putting up a fight. :D

As others have said, the green (and purple)eye glow is Sombra’s dark magic trapping the afflicted in their worst nightmare......what hasn’t been noted much was while Celestia was trapped in her nightmare, in the real world Sombra was gearing up to kill her as she lay defenseless. Definitely get the sense that it is his go to combo: either to break a pony, or to kill them.
Sort of hte benefit of becoming the embodiment of all negative aspects of the psyche (fear, anger, anxiety, wrath, jealousy, etc)...you sort of know how to press people's buttons
Today when I was watching this i had a thought, and that thought was when sombra was trying to get on Luna's good side he was hoping that his speech would win her over and if it didn't then she would either break out of the cage or he would turn into the shadow and infect Luna with his magic and turn her evil himself, and possibly keep her prisoner until the transition was complete
Yes but he isn’t an alicorn so it would take a long time and there would be no guarantee it would work because he isn’t as strong as then being a unicorn with luna and celestia being alicorns so it makes sense that luna beat him because she is much stronger then him plus she has friendship while sombra has hatred instead, friendship is stronger then hatred but their is another problem luna was born with that magic while sombra was gifted with it and as luna said sombra only has a fraction of their might while luna has a lot more that’s why luna didn’t get corrupted like her sister because she has the same magic but stronger then sombra’s.
thing on the commentary, I thought sambra put a curse on the empire so when he was defeated then the empire was banished. also the eye thing I think sambra was trying to show their fears to weaken them. I think when luna was infected that fed her nightmare side that was building up over time. also maybe celestia knew something was wrong with luna and through the fears sambra inplanted in her mind, that's how he found out about what luna was becoming and thought she could make him unstoppable. then when he saw what nightmare moon really was then he regretted his decision and got scared. just a thought.
Yeah, I get the thing that Sombra did now, some kind of spell to feed one's fear basically, and in the case of Luna, it partially triggered the darkness that would ultimately become Nightmare Moon. As for Celestia, still a bit confused on that. If Sombra's spell was supposed to show her her greatest fear, and she saw Luna as an evil being, that means that that's something she was likely already afraid of happening, and maybe was starting to see it in Luna, while at the same time convincing herself that she was seeing things that weren't there. After all, she didn't seem to be suspicious at all of Luna after she woke up and the empire had vanished. Apparently there weren't enough signs of the darkness in Luna yet to automatically think she had anything to do with it. See what I mean though? This video really makes you think HARD about stuff like this. XD

Just saying there is a theory saying that sombra was indeed an alicorn but starswirl used an item we know as the alicorn amulet which made him a unicorn again as with the founding of equestria he could have been king of the unicorns at that time but then when celestia and luna took the throne he grew jealous and used a spell to transform into an alicorn and overpowered the sisters but starswirl didn’t let him stay in power for long and used the alicorn amulet and took his wings but realizing that the amulet would corrupt the user he hid somewhere safe until ofc trixie used it and twilight and her friends had to trick her then it got put back in hiding never to be seen again.
Too bad Luna is nightmare moon in the future. So I guess you can say that it’s, foreshadowing
I have a theory as to why luna was good when facing sombra as nightmare moon but got banished because of nightmare moon the next time. Luna didn’t realize she wasn’t noticed as much as her sister and wasn’t jealous but when she realized she couldn’t control herself because she was to jealous of her sister and became the evil version of nightmare moon as told in the show my little pony: friendship is magic in the first two episodes but why was she surprised to see her sister when transformed back to luna. Was she scared she wouldn’t let her come rule with her or was she just surprised that celestia was there? Did she even know where celestia vanished to or how she got there? How do the elements of harmony even work and why are they only able to be used by certain pony’s? Why did the pillars not talk to stigian to try and figure out what he was doing with the pillars stuff in the first place? What would have happened if the pony of shadows never existed? There are so many things that we don’t know about equestria we don’t even know why the founders named the land equestria. Was it a word in another language that meant harmony or was it because they thought it was the best name for the land? Who are celestia and luna’s parents? Were they alicorns or unicorns? Where are celestia and luna’s parents during the show? Are the dead? Are they just in the ever free forest? Why haven’t we seen celestia and luna’s parents before?
I think when lunar was nightmare moon she killed or 'banished him to the snow' and same with the empire but celestia thinks that sombre did it

I have a theory about Nightmare Moon from this video. What if even though she was Nightmare Moon, she was good, but then she used it again and instead of using her to protect Equestria, like a super form she uses Nightmare Moon to try to take over Equestria and bring eternal night!
Maybe her jealousy made nightmare moon uncontrollable for luna which is why she turned evil but in this she was trying to protect her sister that she cared deeply about so she could control nightmare moon better then when she got banished.
I love Luna she's my favorite Princess, although Twilight is my favorite character out of the Princesses (If that makes sense) And while I love Luna I think Celestia should have gotten a little bit more screen time, fight scenes, don't get me wrong it's great and everything I still love this fan work but yeah I just felt like Celestia should have been on screen a little more; and I'm a Luna fan! Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
Yeah, it did appear as though there was bias towards Luna here. That said, the focus of the story was intentionally on her for the interaction with Sombra, so it's understandable. Hey, at least we got to see Celestia actually putting up a fight. :D

As others have said, the green (and purple)eye glow is Sombra’s dark magic trapping the afflicted in their worst nightmare......what hasn’t been noted much was while Celestia was trapped in her nightmare, in the real world Sombra was gearing up to kill her as she lay defenseless. Definitely get the sense that it is his go to combo: either to break a pony, or to kill them.

Today when I was watching this i had a thought, and that thought was when sombra was trying to get on Luna's good side he was hoping that his speech would win her over and if it didn't then she would either break out of the cage or he would turn into the shadow and infect Luna with his magic and turn her evil himself, and possibly keep her prisoner until the transition was complete
Yes but he isn’t an alicorn so it would take a long time and there would be no guarantee it would work because he isn’t as strong as then being a unicorn with luna and celestia being alicorns so it makes sense that luna beat him because she is much stronger then him plus she has friendship while sombra has hatred instead, friendship is stronger then hatred but their is another problem luna was born with that magic while sombra was gifted with it and as luna said sombra only has a fraction of their might while luna has a lot more that’s why luna didn’t get corrupted like her sister because she has the same magic but stronger then sombra’s.
thing on the commentary, I thought sambra put a curse on the empire so when he was defeated then the empire was banished. also the eye thing I think sambra was trying to show their fears to weaken them. I think when luna was infected that fed her nightmare side that was building up over time. also maybe celestia knew something was wrong with luna and through the fears sambra inplanted in her mind, that's how he found out about what luna was becoming and thought she could make him unstoppable. then when he saw what nightmare moon really was then he regretted his decision and got scared. just a thought.
Yeah, I get the thing that Sombra did now, some kind of spell to feed one's fear basically, and in the case of Luna, it partially triggered the darkness that would ultimately become Nightmare Moon. As for Celestia, still a bit confused on that. If Sombra's spell was supposed to show her her greatest fear, and she saw Luna as an evil being, that means that that's something she was likely already afraid of happening, and maybe was starting to see it in Luna, while at the same time convincing herself that she was seeing things that weren't there. After all, she didn't seem to be suspicious at all of Luna after she woke up and the empire had vanished. Apparently there weren't enough signs of the darkness in Luna yet to automatically think she had anything to do with it. See what I mean though? This video really makes you think HARD about stuff like this. XD
