Don’t understand the dislike of the newer 42mm ... you admitted that this is the first ExII that you’ve held, so maybe actually SEE the 42 before beating on it? Unless you’re a small guy, the 42 has far more wrist presence.
ARCHIE WAS RIGHTTTTTT. ITZ JUST SO KEWLLLL. POLARRR POLARRRR POLARRR. Think it is often a collector's first foray into sports Rolex and often the last one standing at the end of the journey.
I think people are just now starting to see just how nice this watch is. The stigma of being one of the cheapest rolex's held it back for awhile for sure
Picked up my 16570 polar a few weeks ago. It’s still growing on me. I love a black dial but this white dial is beautiful and the red GMT hand pops. A grower for sure
must sting having to admit archie is right about something, the man is almost definitely certifiable!!! really like it and I really like white dials but I just can't do the cyclops. good vid guys.
I definitely like the newer 42mm version better . Better hand set , crisper dial , and better bracelet/ clasp , imo . The 42 mm wears a little flatter on the wrist so I ve heard as well , although , Id still prefer the newer version to have been updated the way it was , only 40mm case.
If the 42mm had a red hand instead of orange i think it would look better. 50th anniversary should bring something interesting but thats will take some years yet.

Hey guys, as a fellow polar exp ii lover, I really enjoyed the discussion. It was the first high end watch I purchased back in early 2015 after a year of saving post college. It was a beautiful mint Z serial example I got off a former pilot. After about a year of ownership, I sold it to fund other watch lusts. In the couple of years and a dozen or so watches since, it was the only watch I ever regretted letting go. I rebought it a few months ago and couldn't be happier! It's a perfect watch in my opinion! Keep up the fun videos.
White dials are cool! Yeah, black is safe and most flexible, but a properly done white dial can be just as good. I think Seiko makes a good number of white dial watches. A few examples off the top of my head are the Grand Seiko with snowflake dial, a fairly newer diamond dust dial, and they have some nice enamel white dials in their presage line. You guys may have watched the ArchieLuxury video where he talked about the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SGBE001. He had to admit it's a nice watch, but you should buy a f*cking ROLEX POLAR EXPLORER II G-M-T! instead for about the same amount of money. I think that the Rolex Explorer II is a nice watch, but I sort of prefer the cleaner setup of the Explorer 1.. but, for a nice classic versatile affordable Rolex, it's definitely a solid choice. I think the main argument, as usual, against spending money of that magnitude on a Seiko is simply cause it's a Seiko...despite the quality, and innovation, the performance, and originality, etc, etc, etc.. Almost all of the great stuff that makes a Seiko actually worth as much as they do, especially in the Grand Seiko line, is automatically negated by the simple (but lame excuse) fact the general population still haven't been acclimated to the fact Seiko's can be just as good, if not better, than many high-end luxury Swiss brands. Wouldn't you rather impress the bitches and homies with a Rolex on your wrist instead of a Seiko? is basically what Archie was saying. I could care less if anybody on the streets doesn't recognize what a Grand Seiko represents.. "... man, you just don't know..." and be ok with that. Versus showing off a Rolex on the wrist almost implies maybe you're trying to show off a bit, even though you may not be and simply appreciate the brand... IDK, you just don't come off as showing off as much with a Seiko which is both good and bad in some ways.. topic for another day... Personally, I'd still opt to go SBGE001 (or SBGE201) for a nice GMT watch over the Rolex. It still seems not your typical go to luxury sport GMT watch and it performs so much better than any traditional mechanical automatic will ever. Who knows?.. maybe if I get that Rolex Explorer II in hands some day and see in person up-close and feel it that sentiment may change.
Nice review. I've got the Blk dial P series (solid endlink, holes case). I am very active person for work and play (and regularly swim), and with 6.75 wrists, I find its dimensions, ruggedness and elegance to be perfect. I also like that fly's under the radar not brining status-based attention. I plan on passing it on to my son in about 30 years!
Archie is horribly wonderful. He has an amazing knowledge of Rolex references. However the WIS master has to be Tim. You Guys seem to have a good attitude to all price ranges (which I like). Thanks
Ok, you going to hate me but even though I love my 14060M I don't have lot affection for the old polar explorer. If I go explorer it would be the 42mm white dial orange hand. I just like more the maxi dial and think the contrast of the red gmt hand on the white dial doesn't speak to me. Great vid though, as usual, was fun watching, cheers from Germany :)
#👍🏼 Love the Rolex jump hour functionality and 40mm sports watches.. Not the larger cases and NO to the new Sea-Deweller at 43mm with a cyclops 😩 looks like a wall clock.
I can either buy one of these used for around 4500€ or one with the perfect spec for me (no holes and Rolex ingraved on the inside), brand new all stickers, papers.. for 7900€. I plan on keeping it
so 16570 vs 216570? Thats a tough call, if its a keeper for life, go with your gut and which one you really want. After decades, a couple thousand euro will not have made much of a difference. - adam
Its a GMT sports watch from Rolex with a date for 5k.. and it looks nice and ISNT a damn submariner. so sick of seeing guys in suites wearing dive watches.
I am like Patrick -- not really a huge fan of any of Rolex's offerings -- but I do like the aesthetics of the Polar Explorer II. That high contrast between the black and the white is very appealing. That said, the prospect of spending 7k on a new one or even 4k on a used one makes me nauseous. No offense to other watch enthusiasts out there, but I'd much rather have an Aquis, an Orion, AND a MM300 for that amount of money. Or sixty SKXes. :)
Enjoyed the video. No offense to anyone but I really can't stand the look the Explorer II, especially the white dial. I can't put my finger on why, but I think it has to do with that brushed bezel and the black surrounds on the hands and indices. That being said it is a great bargain as far as Rolexes go.
I thought this watch was butt-ugly when I first saw it, but that's probably because it was mis-marketed as an Explorer. I was expecting something like the ex1, which I love. But now it has grown on me. I don't know which I like better, this or the Grand Seiko SBGM001.
Any Rolex worth having must have a nickname. Polar all the way. Why didn't the Datejust or Black Sub with cyclops ever get nicknames? Too common? too boring? too predictable?
Who actually uses a GMT bezel? I don't need a bezel but if I were to choose one I would take a dive bezel. I would even take the countdown bezel on the Sinn 104 before this.
Thank you for the mention!!!! SO COOL!!!!! HIPSTERS!
...hows the diet coming?
yup

I usually like black dial but for this model, the white dial looks much more appealing. Want one!!!

I know someone who was given a Cartier GMT by his Boss as a gift. He sold it saying I only need one watch and that is my Poler Rolex GMT.

Where are you getting these with solid end links and holes for 4k? Its more like 5k

That jump hour feature is available on all omega's inhouse co axial...

Oh my days, I hope this doesn't go up in price too much in the next few months as I'm saving up to get one!
Got one just like it, getting time to take it in for service. Great watch, lots of fun to wear.
What are your thoughts on JeanRichard watches?
Jared Rupley Daniel Jean Richard has amazing vintage chronos!
What's the depth rating?
Archie is horribly wonderful. He has an amazing knowledge of Rolex references. However the WIS master has to be Tim. You Guys seem to have a good attitude to all price ranges (which I like). Thanks
Explorer 2 16570, buy them now before it's too late!
I have both polar and black 16570
Sold my 14270 for the polar
Archie says it’s bang for buck!
Those are going to sky rocket into outer space in terms of coin.
A few early 16570 have turned cream as well!
Ok, you going to hate me but even though I love my 14060M I don't have lot affection for the old polar explorer.

I love this rolex. this is my first rolex which I have tried in shop. pure love :)

I love my polar Explorer. It is something just a bit different than your "typical" DJ or Sub. Good video guys !!!
Damn you guys almost have me talked into buying one. However, I am saving up for a Speedmaster Moonwatch.
So glad you showed this model. Not a Rolex fan, but would consider this one. HATE the rolexrolexrolex on the chapter ring of newer models.

Archi must watch this video lol

yep.. I love the Seiko Alpinist too...... ;)
But if it’s plastic, you’re not - of course. The problem is: it looks like a metal one, in which case you must be, after all.
My brother has that exact watch but with the black dial instead!
ROLEX ROLEX ROLEXXXXXXX

Looks ugly in white.....white doesn't suit this type of sports watch....black looks much better
I've NEVER liked the white version. My daughter says it looks like a Primark watch.
Shaking your head at the maxi dial...come on. That's a little pretentious. In person I don't think it looks gaudy or awful in any way.
When you've handled both side by side then you'll get it. The classic proportions make more sense than their maxi counterparts.
Any Rolex worth having must have a nickname. Polar all the way. Why didn't the Datejust or Black Sub with cyclops ever get nicknames? Too common? too boring? too predictable?
What? No Sqwaaaaaaaaaaaalay, today?
They’re 5000 now dammit
It’s not a gmt function.
Pabs um... yeah it is
PHIST
Dang ur watch is pretty beaten up lol
nope
The best? Explorer? What a joke. I like Rolexes, however this one is the ugly one.
Not even in my top 5 for Rolexes. Not in my top 2 for Explorers. I would take the old 36mm Explorer 1 over this one.
Who actually uses a GMT bezel? I don't need a bezel but if I were to choose one I would take a dive bezel. I would even take the countdown bezel on the Sinn 104 before this.
Tritium Exp II *POLAR* all the way!
