    I've been watching a lot of Charles Manson's interviews over the last few days. Interesting to note some similarities between what he says and what UG says. I'm not equating the two, but there is a certain realism between what both say. A certain approach to life that strips away all of the cultural baggage that 99.9% of people cling on to, that the 0.01% cannot, for whatever reasons, hold on to anymore. As I was listening to Manson I recalled where UG says that he has more respect for the thieves and murderers than he does for the fake religious people and the politicians. When Manson talks about the true nature of relationships being about power and not love I kept thinking of UG. But UG was terrified of the law, as he showed in one clip at least that I saw. Manson had a truly awful life and UG didn't. The truth of life is there for those brave enough to look, but it isn't pretty. All of our lies and beliefs are prettier things to cling on to. That's why UG says not to bother coming looking to him for answers. There are no answers. Just go out there and make money and have sex and do whatever the hell you want to do.

      ?? Death is a mouth, death is on the other side of life, always has been. Have you ever eaten an animal or plant, taken it’s life force and it came out the other end “alive”? No its now you. So when your eaten by the Earth you’re essence still exists. And you say you “have” to create life, yet I’m sure you find it quite pleasurable to take the life of plants and animals since you have made it this far doing it day after day. Death is enjoyable because life is enjoyable.

      Yeah. Life is practically wide open for whom ever would like to interpret it's existence; starting the mind. The issue with that is; most human beings firmly cling onto their ideas, with the use of intellect. Probably way too much, to the point, it creates what many would call "Cogonitive Dissonance." It pulls them away from seeing other interpretations or compassion, which is what makes a human, human.

    He says there's no mind or thoughts, yet talks about how he was freed from the stranglehold of thoughts. Can anyone explain this? It's confusing because he talks a lot about thoughts and how they're essential and functional, but says there are no thoughts, etc.

    • @marcosr2
      @marcosr2 5 месяцев назад +1

      Thoughts = noise
      He say that there are no thoughts in the sense that thoughts do not exist in the way that we consider them in common sense, as well defined, perfectly rational and well separated from emotions and feelings, or as fundamental and elevated to life and leading to somewhere, or even as a characteristic of our consciousness, something to be controlled and refined, or contrary to all of this, for the U.G, thinking is an aggressive and destructive instinctive process, like an internal noise, which serves to drive us biologically and socially for certain needs or situations, therefore, for him, thought controls us to a greater or lesser extent and we do not control it, and if with our lifestyle and habits we maintain this internal noise, believing a lot in it and strengthening it, how can we seek a lot for happiness, enlightenment, goals, etc., we are even more conditioned and trapped, suffering more, he still used the term ''thoughts'' to refer to different things just for lack of a better word, so it can get a little confusing.
      He then basically said that for a moment he got rid of this noise, which is an anomalous characteristic that some people have already experienced, whether due to some moment of cognitive or mystical dysfunction or etc., then it depends on what each person interprets, in reality what we can do naturally and under healthy conditions is to greatly reduce the flow of this noise, which I agree with him, which are what they call ''thoughts'', but not to get out of it, because thinking is instinctively an expression of life, it is defense and attention. We always look for perfect conditions and well-defined ideas, how to live fully, without conflict and without bad or stressful moments, but they are inevitable and gurus who preach otherwise are lying, but even so we can keep our thoughts under control and optimize our lives with balance. freely following our individuality and preferences, this is U.G's message if there was one, live your life without necessarily seeking ''spiritual things'', as each person adapts in their own way and this must be respected. He does not directly convey a message or recommendations, so there is nothing positive or negative in what he says, he just elucidates myths, which at least I consider to be, we can't optimize our well-being and our lives as they dream of in spirituality, but we can use life itself (which may include spirituality) as a whole to live in a certain balance, which is not mystical or enlightened, but ok for life, much of what the U.G says also indicates that the search for enlightenment has become obsessive to to the point of blocking even the very well-being that the person seeks with all of this, this being yet another conflict that the person would have to get rid of, which is contradictory, as people dream of enlightenment to get rid of the weight and conflicts in their lives, we also realize that what he calls enlightenment in his monologues is a painful and anomalous process, different in reality from what people understand and seek.

      Thoughts as an expression of human biological life, are reflections of the organism and its relationship with the environment and others, they are part of our nature but not something central within us nor a controlling mechanism, especially because most of what occurs in us it is unconscious and automatic, already programmed organic and cellular level, thinking is then just another instinctive process among many others that we have and any of these processes has its limits, thinking is no different, it has limits and within those limits we can think and modulate certain ideas and actions, it uses up a good part of the organism's energy and is useful within the human framework, the ''I'' or ''self'' in us exists as information, it is a notion of identity constructed on a social basis , as a reflection of others and with the help of language, is just a point of reference and one of the first concepts we learn as babies, from this that other concepts and references emerge, we are not born with this notion of self (self-awareness ), we learn to have, many animals have simple or even complex consciousness, but they do not have self-recognition for example (a few actually have it), which is self-awareness, this means that animals are less refined what they appreciate minus the world? no, it just means that each species has within itself what is necessary and that each of our characteristics fulfills a biological function, which is why the “self” that is learned is such a strong notion in us and we even start to have the impression that we are a central consciousness within a body, a ''ghost in the machine'' and which has a lot of control, but it is a self-illusion, our self or notion of self has its limit precisely where it should be, in our instincts and there is no with transcending this, everything we think and produce is the result of an adaptation to the environment and a way of expanding our limited abilities, a computer for example, is still an extension of our brain and memory, a car, an extension of our legs, always expanding and making it more efficient, it would take us a while to do it naturally or we wouldn't even be able to do it, if it is generally thought that rational thinking differentiates us from other animals and that there is something more than just flesh and bones, but everything we do and think, no matter how much whether we think it is elevated, evolved, wonderful or brilliant, it is always within the biological context, it is always about improvements in our daily physical life, so that we can eat better, have better sex, feel better, become healthier, etc., even what is considered transcendental, such as theology, spirituality, meditation, religion, etc. as being something beyond the physical, even though they have benefits and have an effect on the human being as a whole, they are nothing more than the search for security, well-being, financial success, resources or personal satisfaction and so on, are an instrument for biological life and not a way to transcend it in reality, I have an open mind to any possibility and to accept that our reality could be more than that or even less than that, because the subject of perception humanity is super complex and even supposedly transcendental experiences are still questionable, therefore, I trust the normal perceptions of myself and of most normals more than altered perceptions, however mediocre that may seem it is an adequate compromise.
      You ask ''Who is he who uses thoughts?''
      The pronoun ''who'' comes later, what I want to say is the following, it is not a ''who'' that uses thoughts but rather a ''what'' and this is that uses thoughts is our organism, it is from this impersonal and unconscious cellular ''machine'' that this reference notion of self arises, which exists precisely as a useful impulse to maintain the body, especially because without the self we would have already become extinct, as evolutionarily we are physically weak and having this consciousness is a little magnified about us and things allowed the use of the environment to our advantage, the ''consciousness'' that I speak of is relative, of course, referential, as evolution programmed us to focus on ourselves and the environment in which we live so that we used it according to our needs and those of the collective, we are aware of reality and even of ourselves only very limitedly, we see very little with the naked eye and even with technology it is still little, reality is uncertain and there may be much more in the Universe and in this existence that we will never capture and this could perhaps be something that would fit the transcendental definition or not.

      I would say that the question is not ''who'' but ''what'' uses thoughts, which is the organism, our unconscious and automatic body has thinking as a resource to become more efficient in certain things, pronouns become after the basic functions.
      We have a very strong sense of self within us and we have the impression that it is something else in our body, but the self is learned in childhood, one of the first things we learn as babies, both through language and by having others as a reference.
      Consciousness is nothing more than a biological tool of adaptation, utilizing all the senses is focusing on reference points in ourselves and the external environment to better adapt, it has been programmed for survival and certain animals are also self-aware with self -recognition included in its own way, some are only conscious and to some extent automatic.
      I am open-minded to accept that reality could be more than what we see or even less than that, but I trust even more in mundane and basic experience than in altered states, human perceptions are very complex but most evidence points out that consciousness is indeed biological. We tend to think that we are aware of reality but we only have what we need, little in fact, our senses and brain are very limited and free will exists, in the sense of modulating our own impulses (thinking before acting), but this always within the individual and social human framework, there is no transcendence in this.
