- The Lamborghini Aventador S is the most ferocious bull in the line-up with 740 horsepower and various upgrades to the iconic Aventador, it means business in a very strange way. If you asked a child to draw a supercar, this is more or less what they would come up with so let's find out why...
I previously drove an Aventador S during Lamborghini's Winter Accademia on snow and ice but thanks to Lamborghini Edinburgh this was my first time out on regular tarmac and in particular the countryside roads of Scotland. Prior to getting underway we can take a walkaround to discuss what has changed from the original Aventador to the new Aventador S, explore the interior and then get started. Oh, expect to hear plenty of V12 sounds and revs as we go too!

It is impossible to make the car much lighter if you want to retain the V12 naturally aspirated formula. The LaFerrari weighs almost 1,600kg too (well, they also have the batteries). I am pretty sure Lamborghini have done plenty of focus groups and I can bet the majority of their customers want to stay naturally aspirated and a V12 for the flagship car. I remember Pagani also did a ton of focus groups before they built the Huayra. While Pagani wanted to go the turbo route, its customers told them they had to keep the V12 even if they wanted to turbocharge it. And if I am not wrong, going forward Lamborghini will most likely take the hybrid route like what the LaFerrari did which is fantastic news. You see, sometimes it is not necessarily about having the fastest car, rather a car that messes with your senses and stirs your emotion. I just can't imagine a turbocharged Lamborghini supercar ala McLaren 720S. Sure, the coming Urus will be turbocharged, but that is a SUV daily driver which is more acceptable.

IMO I was young when the Lamborghini Countach was popular in the 80's, it was the sickest car on the planet , and though I loved the Diablo and the Murcielago I never really thought they ever came close to matching the aura and insanity of the Countach, until they released the Aventador!
I remember back when I would watch videos of supercars and thinking that the exhaust seemed a bit quiet, then I quickly disregarded that thought when I stood next to a aventador starting up

Great review!! Absolutely epic!! Once you become a Lamborghini fan, you will always be a Lamborghini fan. For me, it goes all the way back to the Countach when I was a very young kid and nothing else beats it. There are faster cars around, but it is the Lamborghini design language and the awesome sound of the naturally aspirated V12 that does it for me.
I just followed this exact car about 20 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh on the M8, what a machine, it is automotive perfection.

I sat in an Aventador S in Warsaw (their demo car) and I think it was the exact same spec! The doors, the warm smell of new car and leather, so damn low, so damn aggressive, awesome car!

Eamon Yap yea I agree, the S Roadster is worth more as your not gonna take it out everyday so it’s nice to take it out on summer and convert it but the Coupe is better looking and is slightly faster in acceleration by 0.01

tim, with a bit of mention, those high intakes at the rear are a modern interpretation of those on the countach
Hi Tim, this car screams aggression from the looks to the engine & exhaust sound also it's a neck breaker but could you daily drive the outstanding power house of a car at 740hp and has more torque than a nuclear missile. The only one thing puts me of this car is the gearbox otherwise I'm sold. Great Vlog Tim. Regards , Alan B
@shmee150 in the video at @1:50 its actually a pentagonal design which is exceedingly rare in design language throughout modern and classics. Very interesting to look at.

A few weeks ago I went to Lamborghini Manchester and I saw 2 aventador SVs, an aventador s, a huracan performante and a standard aventador!
I love the brown leather in that classic style!

Lamborghini bought this car a few years until it has to be replaced by some very good updates. Still wish it had a double clutch gearbox. Start putting those in lambos and they take the brand to another level. Nice vid fun car
I usually don't really fancy Lambos (think it used to be the head- & taillight that made the car look weird), but this one is rather nice I must say. Love the wheels, they are gorge and the interior is classy too.

To me, the looks of the Aventador LP700-4 are the best ever. This S looks good, but not as sharp and agressive as the LP700-4. I d like the open vents, they look amazing. If someone asks me which one I would prefer, I would go for the 'old' Aventador, get some matte black paint on it with orange brake callipers 👌 best looking car ever!
Someone should do a summary of car widths. Lots of supercars are as wide as a bus and takes some of the fun out of it when you're constantly worrying about squeezing down tight roads, depending on which country you're in.

I think that sound would fit better for SV, This model S is less aggressive looking but sounds more aggressive than an SV. Overall as always amazing car.

with all the recent fuzz over the huracan perfomante (wich i really like) and the mclaren's and the porsche's, many people don't get that the aventador is the only car that hold's the myth of Lamborghini high. like the real myth that defined the miura, countach, diablo....
even if it's not the fastest, it is the most extreme. dominated by it's engine and kicks the shit out of you when you shift gears. it's supposed to not make any sence at all. to be exausting to drive and shout at you and everybody else. while the huracan is very capable, fast and has it's fans, the aventador get's what a Lambo should be like.
I don't understand why you think the scrolling is "completely backwards"? If you were turning volume up you would twist clockwise, so makes perfect sense that clockwise rotation also scrolled up?

Great video, thanks - I love this car - it is the essence of super car exotica - there maybe others that are better technically in some aspects but who cares that is not what it's all about - which is why it baffles the hell out of me when people talk about it's lack of storage space/glove box etc..... who gives a sh*t ??? I'm sure Lamborghini decide at the design stage that anyone who does care shouldn't be allowed to buy one !!
I love all the videos you make, but you need a 4K camera. The video quality is good, don't get me wrong, but it would be superb with a high end 4K camera. And with all those cars in the garage, I think money isn't an issue.
I have a high end 4K camera, but I am unable to deal, edit and upload 4K content daily. It simply is impossible within the current way content production is going. If internet speeds go up and there is a codec that supports smaller file sizes of 4K videos then maybe but at this moment it is simply impossible.
Tim, may I just ask. Do you feel any of the current Lamborghini line up deserve a place in your garage?

Firm, but not as bad as the buckets or the regular seats in the Huracans
