Thanks for the video, great stuff... I bought the compact XR, and now that I try it, I'm thinking I should have gotten the compact instead. Do you think I can do what you did to use this better for home inspection type things? Whats your thoughts?
Short wave IR follows the same rules as visible light. Unfortunately if you google "zoom lens construction" it quickly becomes apparent that multiple lenses of pretty high quality would be required and that they would be fairly large... I suspect it would be a very expensive proposition to construct.
***** I thought that would be the case, Even a doubler would have been great. Thank goodness they are bringing in new moulded lenses instead of the germanium that has to be machine cut and polished.
Unfortunately we mowed 2 baby rabbits in our garden last week (we let the grass get pretty high, so we can feed it to my sisters horse) and i just ordered a seek xr from amazon warehouse deals to fly with it with a drone over the garden before mowing. Is there any way to boost the FOV wit a lens? 20° sucks pretty bad for searching the garden for small critters...
You only need one for the infrared. If you want MSX, you will need to add another lens. But they are too big for both. Will need to find two smaller lens. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3218812
So, would you say 4" is a good focal point for the lens? I seem to vaguely remember that the macro lenses for the E4 and such have a shorter focal distance.
Thanks for the reply, that sounds like a great field of view for electronics purposes. Pretty much perfect. I just ordered that lens, probably going to 3D print a lens holder with clip - I'm not a particularly big fan of friction fit. Probably enables for better alignment as well with my ninjaflex filament.
Thank you for the neat idea! Just what I was looking for.
What about focus? Would I be better off just buying the Seek XR for looking at things up close?
Very clever solution. Well done.

Not sure why you didn't fully demonstrate its macro use and how much magnification one can expect???
Thank you very much for the info provided! very accurate
can this seek compact find 0.005 amp short????
Interesting video, cheers!
Sir, which model this one
hmm why u have FL 4 inch , close to 2 inch i mean in optics if u do that only have relative better image
Any ideas how you would extending the magnification and the distance of the seek thermal to watch wildlife?

Dear, friend. Where I can buy the same tripod? :) Thanks for review!
search for "camera magic arm" on Amazon.com
Don't suppose you have that ebay link by chance? There 50 USD lenses on ebay but that seems a bit overpriced
+Username On Ebay search "20mm ZnSe Focal Lens CO2". Lot's show up in the ~$15 range....
thanks for share
@@electronupdate Appreciate the very important technical detail. Thank you!
I am trying to do this formy flir one pro, it has two cameras would i need to have a lens for each?

demultiplexer This particular lens is in focus when the object is 1.7" away, giving a field-of-view of 1.15" x 1.15".

@@electronupdate Looks like the ebay lens in the video is 4" (101mm) focal length. Did you use another FL for your project then?
what type glass you use?
if i recall correctly zinc selenide
