@@thegreat1548 Loved every moment is a strong take
@@queloqjohnny4839 yes they were willing to put it all on the line they made no excuses, MEN WERE MADE DIFFERENT back then.
They were different type of fighters back then. Just built different
@@thegreat1548 I guess but there was also less cameras so we see and hear a lot more. There were a lot of cowards back then too but they fly under the radar. Honestly I can't say coward in the sport of boxing cuz to get in the ring ur already a certain caliber but yk what I mean. Not every fighter was built like that. Old days the stars got all the talk and buzz and regular athletes flew under the radar big time.
Like in NBA Wilt Chamberlain a beast old toughness etc etc but in comparison the league was way softer then him but we don't talk about the league being undertalented. Same situation here, top heavyweights from today's era I have no doubt can go toe to toe with some of these guys for real. Yes same, absolute gentlemen.
The old era of Heavyweights would whoop the Heavyweights of now. I honestly sense and feel they were a lot more dangerous, ferocious, gutsy and actually were really skilled boxers.
Many/most of them? Sure. All of them? Highly doubt it. Deontay Wilder can knock a horse off its feet just as hard if not even harder than Earnie Shavers and we also had a pretty few very good decent HWs in the last 10 years. The thing is, the sport evolved in a way that sometimes it's too technical and it's sometimes difficult to gauge what are these boxers made of. Tyson Fury might not be the greatest or the most entertaining HW boxer but I think he's doing a fairly good job at least.
No boxers of the past were very uneducated when it came to diet, training and stupid myths like don’t lift weights it’ll make you stiff or don’t have sex before a fight. Athletes in general today are better because the training is better.

Love these clips of the past.
This was before Mike. When mike came around, notice in interviews Ali's attitude with Tyson. With other great legends sitting and talking Loud mouth old dude was like "Everybody in this room takes mike Tyson in their prime" Ali instantly even through his disease and off camera Ali says "Speak for yourself". Or when Mike meets Ali on an interview and although Ali was getting slow in vocal response it was like they were both nervous, even was asked who would win, he instantly points at Tyson. Then goes on his normal stuff like "But i was so fast, but if he hit me. ..... ZZzzzz." Ali knew what prime Mike was. Mike worshipped Muhammad cause they were both top tier in styles built to impress not just win. Nobody ever throws mike a bone but Ali did and never hesitated to talk over someone in that response.
B.S. Tyson was TRASH. He fought Bums. An Old,Sick Holyfield knocked out Tyson. Bum ass Buster Douglas knocked out Tyson. Ali ONLY acknowledged Mike because Mike idolized him. Tyson was s ZERO!!
I thought i was the only one that noticed ali saying "speak for yourself" in that interview
Mike is not even top 5 hardest punchers, he has said it himself. Mike was a combo master, but in terms of raw strength, Foreman, shavers, Sonny Liston to name a few were stronger than Mike. Even prime Holyfield said 40 year old Foreman punches were like getting hit by bricks and couldn’t even KO an old Foreman. This just shows why they called Ali generation of boxers the golden era of boxing. Prime Ali would destroy prime Tyson. He was just being humble towards Mike.
@@crimsonking8344 True. Sonny Liston broke bones when you block his punches lol. Although Ali hyped up the fight a lot, they made the biggest hype in entertainment that time. Sonny legit took a dive under 1min in the first round. There were definitely huge bets on Sonny despite his age and Ali's skill, even Ali joked about it. He talked about "how fast he was and at that moment he hit Sonny, everyone blinked. So they needed to hold their eyes open to see the KO" LOL He also didn't get up when he could have. He retired with that.
"Both nervous" 😂😂😂 amateur body language expert and boxing casual. Ali would beat Tyson 4 times out of 5. Styles make fights. Ali would stick and move. Tyson lost every time there was resistance. Ali was mentally much stronger. Ali would've took him into the late rounds and drowned him. Only people who don't understand boxing look at Tysons highlight reel and mean demeanour and think ooooo Tyson would've killed Ali!!!
This man knocked them out like he was collecting souls. The way how they all dropped it’s like they died for a split second. That’s God given strength right there.
Ali always demonstrated why he was the best❗️He complimented a great boxer and did not let the words back… Ali always followed his believes & not the major crowd! Like standing against the war in Vietnam…

The Hardest puncher of all time
Not even remotely close. Tyson hit far harder than he ever did and it’s not even debatable. ESPN even ranked him as the #1 hardest hitter in history. The ring magazine is irrelevant, they’re the most incompetent, biased boxing publication to ever exist. ESPN is what matters, not “the ring”…. Tyson ended careers and knocked dudes into another dimension. He hit Michael Johnson harder than Earnie Shavers ever hit ANYONE in his career. Johnson was out cold for minutes. Had to be physically woken up by the doctor.. He bout knocked his Afro off his head.

There is a REASON he’s ranked as the #1 hardest hitter by ESPN kid. Do you know how many undefeated fighters’ careers he ENDED? Michael Spinks was the reigning undefeated undisputed Light Heavyweight champ and Tyson literally ended his entire career. I don’t even remember how many undefeated fighters took their 1st career L from Tyson. A lot. You VERY clearly don’t have a single clue what tf you’re talking about. Man. RIP brother
Shavers and Deontay Wilder are the most devastating one punch knockout artists in HW history. But not necessarily the greatest finishers. Larry Holmes and Bernardo Mercado both got off the deck to stop Shavers. Ron Lyle also was heavily knocked down by Shavers in 1975 but came back to kayo him. Tex Cobb and Ron Stander survived his bombs to stop Shavers. Even Roy "Tiger" Williams had Shavers exhausted and all but out on his feet in 1976. Ref gave Earnie an eight count and he roared back to kayo the durable, steel-chined Williams. Jimmy Young was kayoed early by Shavers in about 1973. But in 1974 the slick boxing Young held Shavers to a draw. A bout most ringside observers thought Young should have won. Not to mention his being blown away by Jerry Quarry in the 1st round in 1973 then losing to the unheralded Bob Stallings by decision in 1974. Shavers had brutal power and tons of heart. But as a finisher he is not in the same league as the great ones like Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Frazier, Foreman. He did go 15 rounds with a shot Ali to his credit losing a close but comprehensive 15-round decision.
Shavers had bad stamina
Deontay wilder sucks
That's some great history you know!
If shavers had Muhammad Ali stamina it would been over with
Speaking of stamina.
If you tell Earnie Shavers that he’s going to fight Teofilo Stevenson of Cuba 🇨🇺 for 3 rounds, Earnie would’ve smiled on that and said 3 rounds? That’s all I need! He would’ve flattened Teofilo Stevenson. Because Earnie now knows that he doesn’t have to worry about stamina. Earnie now knows that he has 3 rounds to knock out the Cuban fighter. And Earnie will.
That dude was a tough out for any boxer in those days. Shavers was the dude you really didn’t want to fight in your quest for a belt.

Frazier, Ali, Shavers, Lyle, Ellis, Quarry, Stander, Cobb, the list goes on. It’s sad to see how badly their healths deteriorated.
