Just bought one of theses off marketplace for $10. What a steal, I have a nice Lincoln auto darkening but I've wanted one of these old passive helmets.
When I was traveling the northwest welding pipe we had to wear hard hats under our hoods most places. Cutting the inch off the top let’s your hood flip up far enough it’s not constantly flipping down when you don’t want it to. I cut an inch off the bottom to help it clear my chins.
Because if you don’t when you flip it down it’s gonna karate chop you on the bottom of your neck, and the top part because when you lift it up it grabs on the adjustment knob on the back.
@@mmipmobilewelding6975 awesome my pipeliner kept fogging up in the booth today and I dont know why it wasnt hot or anything just doing some tig welding, is there any reason why its doing that?
@@mmipmobilewelding6975 maybe I just need to start with that inch off the bottom and hopefully it will. Im a small dude and Im definitely no darth vader I definitely breath through my nice but when Im tig welding its all up by my neck and I think theres just no where for the air to go so it stays in and fogs up
Amazon has it. I'm sure he painted it blue as you can see the white undercoat. What I'm going to do is paint my pipliner hood black. But I recommend the tiger hood or a flipfront so you can grinde without switching to a grinding shield

Adding Jackson headgear to my Pipeliner transformed my hood. So good!
Gavriel Dorian has to be the best mod I’ve made to it hands down.
You had me at "widow of your rig truck"....
Interesting... thanks for sharing.... PB
Why do people cut an inch of the top and bottom?

Had a dick drawing on the front of my lens and didnt see it till i started welding. Dick drawings are a daily routine for welders and mechanics.
