Batista and Undertaker stole the show for Wrestlemania 23. I remember after watching that match live I was bored for the rest of the show, and felt deflated after going crazy for Batista vs Taker. Also it was so dumb that the new breed vs the ECW Originals was just a regular match at Mania, but the ECW after Mania it was the same match but in Extreme Rules. Like WTF.
Just another example of how they were trying to show Cena down our throats as the #1 guy when truth be told starting in 2005, Batista was way more over than him and had it not been for injuries, he might have been the top guy and not Cena.
I thought WM 23 was a bit better than WM 22, The Money in the Bank was good, Mr.Kennedy winning was the right thing then. US Title was good, but not the right decision. The Undertaker and Batista was very good not the place on the card. The WWE'S ECW i will not mention. The Battle of the Billionaires i did not care. HBK and Super Cena was good, Shawn really was great in his 2002 - 2010 run, great work
I like this show pretty underrated. The two world title matches were awesome, Money in the Bank was great and nothing was that bad besides Kane vs Khali and the Divas match
According to dirt sheets at the time Batista was supposed to beat the undertaker. the idea of a Batista vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania was first brought up back in the fall. The plan at the time was for Batista to go over, thus ending Taker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak. However, since that time, Undertaker has gained a lot of steam. Batista on the otherhand has been generally performing subpar to poorly in his matches as of late, although he hasn’t really lost any steam due to his poor performances as he is still quite over with the fans. Internally, they believe that some of the fans are starting to see right through him, citing the chants for Mr. Kennedy at the end of their Royal Rumble match. If they go through with this match, there is the possibility of a Batista heel turn in which Taker could chase him through the summer. A Batista Mania win would risk an unplanned heel turn because most fans would likely resent him for breaking the streak.
I feel the same on this show it felt predictable and lackluster. I didn't order until WM24 for years. I think MOTN was tough because HBK vs Cena or Batista vs Undertaker I can back and forth on.
Honestly this mania kicked ass. If they had just put the right matches in the right place this would honestly be one of the all time best Wrestlemanias
You know, Ashley Massaro's Playboy push had the exact same effect as Lex Luger's mega Lex Express push from 1993-1994, and I'm not just talking about cheesy music videos, crying children, botched wrestling matches, and empty bottles of baby oil. With that said, Mickie James should've been the one facing Melina here.
I hated the fact that Taker Batista midcard this Mania but I got the impresion that WWE had no choice but to put this match in the midcard. All other 6 matches beside the world tittle ones were not that great and WWE knew it so they had to do one great match in the midcard to save the show.
WM 23s MITB much better than 21's or 22's and Kennedy winning was the absolute best choice. The Kane/Khali match was horrible. MVP really should of gone over Benoit at Mania so he got a Mania moment and won a mid card title at Mania. Taker and Batista should of main evented WrestleMania 23 most definitely. Triple H and Orton had to main event at X8 and XXV respectfully so why the fuck couldn't Taker? A stupid stupid mistake. The 8 man tag was nothing special. Same as the Battle of the Billionaires. That was a decent match and Trump couldn't go a Clothesline for shit. Melina/Ashley was crappy. Cena/HBK was the second best match of the night. Great story told and great spots too.
Monty Brown was THE FUCKIN MAN!!!! WWE dropped the ball with him and TNA just missed an opportunity to push someone other than Double J. His finisher was different and worked best in a 6-Sided ring. He had the look, he had the attitude and he had the potential.

Hhh and Cena were supposed to have a rematch but hhh got injured. Battle of the billionaires was supposed to be hbk and booker t, Edge and orton we’re supposed to have a singles match but edge got injured so they threw him into the money in the bank to hide his injury and ultimately had jeff hardy take him out because he couldn’t wrestle for very long.
i noticed hhh and hbk have tapped out alot at wrestlemanias. i dont think babyface main eventers should tap out ever. only heel main eventers should tap. batista vs taker shoulda gone longer, it was pretty short but good still. an extra 10 minutes really coulda boosted it

OTRSCentral Big Show, Mark Henry were not at WrestleMania 23 ? They were probably injured. Flair and Carlito vs Helms and Guerrero was dark match,it was stupid to put Flair in dark match. Flair should have been on main card. This WrestleMania is best to me because Triple H was not there
