Thank you all for supporting me on this journey! If you are coming from a previous progress video, year three starts at 2:40. I think the thing I progressed with most this year was starting to figure out how to use the guitar more creatively to express myself :). I'm excited to see where this next year takes me!
It is almost impossible to train rhythm guitar too much. The progress in it is even less noticeable than with lead guitar. It really takes years of just playing hours and hours and hours with NO ONE saying how cool it sounds. It is like training for a marathon vs 100m dash.
Even though I’ve been playing guitar for a while now, I’ve only ever played with my acoustic or classical since I didn’t have an electric. I recently just got an electric since I’ve been getting into rock and metal lately and I feel like I have to start back at square one since I’ve rarely used a pick and know little to nothing about playing metal/rock on guitar. It’s so frustrating since I know guitar but I feel like I don’t. This is actually really motivating so thank you!
Here’s a tip, when it comes to rock and metal, especially post hardcore, most is really easy, but really impressive . Like never too late by 3 days grace or Makedammsure by taking back Sunday .
I'm in the same boat, don't sweat it! Been playing guitar for about 10 years (with some periods of laziness lol) but the vast majority of my practice was spent doing finger-style picking and acoustic songwriting just because that's what I gravitated towards at the time. Which is a shame for the real nice Fender American Standard Stratocaster I've had for the last 5 years that's not been getting the love it deserves! But now I've come back to electric I've realised the steep learning curve I've got to navigate, not just with my playing but also amp tone (makes a HUGE difference as someone commented above), effectively using my pedal board, etc. But like you say, videos like this are so motivating because it's absolutely possible with a bit of time, patience and discipline! Best of luck with your playing! I'm sure we'll be shredding before we know it :-D
I was hoping to have it up sooner but took longer to put together than I had planned 😅. Thanks Jassy, your videos have always been an inspiration for me! 🎸
I started ... Got hit by a car while carrying my bike which ripped all the ligaments in my wrist, and stopped right there as I could no longer form chord shapes and hold them. Gave my guitars to friends who could use them and gave up that dream You are freakin' epic, keep living your dream!!!
Aron Craig There are hundreds of types of instruments! Go to a music school, research different instruments, maybe digital drums, maybe ukulele (has very light strings), maybe singing: get your voice trained instead, other people can be your musicians☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
I know it’s frustrating.... but try to learn opposite-handed if you’re still interested. Yes it’s going to feel like you’re starting over, but not really!! You’re armed with what you’ve already learned!!
To keep the video shorter I only included limited clips from years 1 and 2. If you'd like to see more of what I learned over those years as well check out Year 2: ruclips.net/video/R4KmpaOZ2R8/видео.html and Year 1: ruclips.net/video/yXpj1ifleec/видео.html :)
Seeing your expressions and confidence continuously grow and grow as time went on was absolutely beautiful! You’ve made so much progress in such a short amount of time, you should be proud of yourself! Keep going, you’ve got talent and the heart to help it flourish.
Seriously, I've been playing for thirteen years and I only have five guitars. I also have a banjo, keyboard, violin, and bass though. So maybe if I spent all that money on guitar equipment I guess I'd have a lot more.
Very impressive .. but if you had sold your soul to the devil and struck a deal at the crossroads with some hellhound, you could have saved yourself tons of time and effort ..
I saw your first and second progress videos about two months ago. I had been interested in learning to play electric guitar for a while, but watching those videos made me decide to take the plunge. This is the absolute best motivator for getting off your butt and finally making the move to learn I personally have ever seen. Thank you so much for posting it was really fascinating watching the progress unfold like that and very very inspiring to see.
Well, there are two very clear things . 1. She is so high when plays guitar. and 2.it's been three years, but she looks exactly like in the first month.
Girl, I just have to say, seeing the progress you've made has kept me going and grinding learning guitar. Just reached practicing consistently for 1 year and I feel happy with my progress. Appreciate your vids, and keep it up, you've come a long way since you've started!
I'm impressed by your dedication. It's so cool to see your progress. I play bass but I've been a "beginner" on guitar my whole life because I've never put in consistent time. You've inspired me to try to get back into guitar.
I'm 37 and picked up guitar for the first time about a month ago. Found this video really inspirational. If I can be half as good as you in 3 years time I'll be well pleased! Also, you have awesome taste in music. 🤘😁
If you try at all you’ll be able to. She is below average for that time span. It is tougher learning on your own though and she is still young so nothing against her. It’s just tough getting over that first hump but if you can get through the initial frustration it becomes actually fun to play you’ll start learning quick
@@dr.lyleevans6915 How many people have you seen go through the learning process to determine what average even is? For her age and being self taught she's killing it. The fact she even kept with it is something worth celebrating in itself given how many people put their guitar away when they aren't a rock god in a few months to never touch it again.
Cheers folks, I'm definitely going to keep it up! 🤘I practice whenever I'm able and even when I get frustrated I'm still enjoying learning and can see improvement all the time. I'm learning through online courses at the moment but going to be booking some proper lessons as soon as I can. I love this video though. Above average or below average doesn't matter. Just seeing that change from someone who can barely string single notes together to being able to play full, awesome sounding solos... and how the full-on concentration and frustration turns to pure enjoyment and happiness... it really is inspirational to somebody like me who thought I'd never be able to play anything more difficult than Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. 😁
MrKleenexDude I taught over 100 students most younger. Just being realistic. Wasn’t trying to knock her at all it really comes down to practice time more than years playing. Generally her skill level comes around 1 year if someone has some motivation. Like I said before she is young, she will be fine. Playing matures with age.
This was so cute! You were always smiling and enjoying yourself! What an inspiration! And for someone who is self taught, your technique is great! keep at it girlll! :)
I’m self taught playing for 20 years now and you have a gift, I’m no slouch but I can just tell in your technique that you’re either very comfortable with the instrument or have a very good teacher :) keep up the good work
@@RachelfGuitar Hello, sorry to bother you! ^^ im learning Cirice by Ghost, (they're my favorite band, im sure yours too! :)) and whenever i get to the power chord heavy part, im hitting the chords way to hard, but i dont know how to stop it. May i ask for advice? :)
Hey! Usually it is ok to hit power chords pretty hard. Are you having issues with extra notes ringing out? One useful thing is to mute the other strings with your first finger at the same time as you are holding down the chord. Otherwise, my usual advice for any struggle is to just slow down the song a lot and work on whatever is tricky and then slowly speed it back up! Best of luck :)
Well done girl, you can tell how much joy playing the guitar brings you. And its nice to see a progression from absolute beginner to a very compotent player, you've done really well

Thank you all for supporting me on this journey! If you are coming from a previous progress video, year three starts at 2:40. I think the thing I progressed with most this year was starting to figure out how to use the guitar more creatively to express myself :). I'm excited to see where this next year takes me!
Can't wait either you're an inspiration keep on rockin! !!!!!!!
does this mean a bohemian rhapsody cover is coming?

It is almost impossible to train rhythm guitar too much. The progress in it is even less noticeable than with lead guitar. It really takes years of just playing hours and hours and hours with NO ONE saying how cool it sounds. It is like training for a marathon vs 100m dash.
You have an amazing smile while playing , great job on your progress !

Her: 2 years = 4 guitars and 1 bass
Me: 1 1/2 years = 1 kit guitar 😐
Same... literally
Me: 6 years with the same kit guitar
Been playing for 3 years, started off with a kit guitar, then a epiphone, 2nd year got a schecter, then a schecter 7 string.
Me: ten years a classic guitar that sound very bad and an acoustic one
So you have to buy more Guitars if you want to Play better.
Ok, her first solo was STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN?!
Gotta say that’s pretty awesome 👏
Your pitch bending has improved dramatically, congrats on 3 years hopefully another 100 to go!

There are hundreds of types of instruments!
I'm sorry man I hope someday u can pursue it again

Seeing your expressions and confidence continuously grow and grow as time went on was absolutely beautiful! You’ve made so much progress in such a short amount of time, you should be proud of yourself! Keep going, you’ve got talent and the heart to help it flourish.
Exactly!
And inspirational too!
I see your guitar collection quickly grew :) Nice playing!
Seriously, I've been playing for thirteen years and I only have five guitars. I also have a banjo, keyboard, violin, and bass though. So maybe if I spent all that money on guitar equipment I guess I'd have a lot more.

I'm 37 and picked up guitar for the first time about a month ago. Found this video really inspirational. If I can be half as good as you in 3 years time I'll be well pleased! Also, you have awesome taste in music. 🤘😁
Keep working! Dont give up!
Wow the progress are awesome
This was so cute! You were always smiling and enjoying yourself! What an inspiration! And for someone who is self taught, your technique is great! keep at it girlll! :)

@@RachelfGuitar thank you! Yes, some notes do ring out! :D your advice is appreciated! ^^
Well done girl, you can tell how much joy playing the guitar brings you. And its nice to see a progression from absolute beginner to a very compotent player, you've done really well
