    I would buy a trailsport only if it had a bench seat. Don't know why car makers force captain seats, give the choice to customers. People may need to off road, or sometimes carry 8 passengers.

      Bc of full spare tire… I think it takes down on the weight

      I believe there is a bench seat option that is removable and stows in the storage in the floor in the back. Allows either captains or bench. Owners choice.

      The TS has a full-size spare, which is great but there isn't enough room to store the removable center seat like there is in the other trim levels. It's worth the trade off for me.

      100% agree. Trailsport with removable center bench seat option would be ideal for large families and the weekend off-roader. No need to stow the extra seat and keep the full size spare.

    Just to let let you know. I'm in my mid 50"s with two small dogs and I just bought one. Lol! With the intention of going light off road, some trails and back country roads with the wife and the dogs. Love everything about it. Money well spent.

    Kind of wished they came with manual trans. It is this or the 4runner for me.

    Good review and on all points I agree. After my own investigation, I agree with you: this Trailsport Pilot comes with unique features others just don’t come with (a number of them you missed). 17 or 18" as this one is makes great sense for off-roading. Their fuel mileage is in the thirstier side by comparison, however as you eluded to, with its simpler legendary V6, they’ll be no turbo or hybrid related repairs to ever think about. Long term, this vehicle will cost the same as a hybrid might and yet, can tow more than an equivalent hybrid too. Their 2nd generation AWD is even better and better than the competition with superior torque vectoring, other than paying for over priced top end Jeep Grand Cherokee with Quadra Drive2 that does not have the overall reliability of this Honda product.

    I’m surprised, he did not test drive the Trailsport off the pavement and on rough mountain roads when you drive relatively slowly and carefully, relying on Honda’s excellent 4WD tuned for this special trim to get through some pretty serious rough spots (and I speak as a Toyota 4Runner owner, accustomed to driving off-road in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California). But the RUclips videos I have seen showing what the Trailsport can do off-road, absolutely amazed me. I am surprised he did not take it off road because the ability to go off-road is the entire point of this trim. If you are never going to go off-road, why would you buy this trim level and be stuck with the people mover for seven instead of 8 total people, you were features then found in the Elite trim?

    Sheer agony behind that Highlander. Pity some people just don't have the consideration to move outta the way, especially when they are infatuated with the wide pedal.

    Interesting you feel the Pilot’s transmission is smooth at low speed. My own experience and many people from the piloteer forum found the low speed shifting to be jerky. But it seems not every 23/24 pilot has the issue.

      I also think it’s relative. Drive a cx90 and the pilot feels so smooth

    How is the ride quality for cruising around? Does the engine sound rough and loud when accelerating? That's how it sounds through the headphones.

    • @EatSleepDrive
      @EatSleepDrive  8 месяцев назад +2

      Ride quality is excellent. Depends what you mean by 'rough.' It's definitely noticeable when you get on it, but the v6 is a pleasant sound compared to the many turbo 4 cylinders that other companies are going with. It also has a traditional transmission, so it doesn't sound like a weed wacker like some CVT cars. Hope that helps!

    If you can afford to buy this car, I’m sure you can buy a bike rack. You don’t want to ruin the interior of a 50k vehicle
