  • Zambia is reaping the benefits of Zimbabwean farmers hounded off their land at the height of violent evictions against white land owners .
    Zambian authorities say their numbers have almost doubled the population of commercial farmers from 400 to 750.
    A While Zimbabwe will need to import grain this season, Zambia's fortunes have been reversed.

I live in the UK, and black families that have been living here for generations (sometimes before the inception of the union between Scotland and England) wouldn't consider themselves European. I don't understand how things can go one way here and another way there. I have never incited violence, white South African can stay in SA if they want to. Zambia is not the only nation to have benefited from the expertise of white Zimbabwean farmers. Mozambique and Botswana have also benefited. It is refreshing to see that there are a few level-headed African leaders who actually think with their minds and not their emotions. It is a shame that there are a few very stupid people who refuse to see the damage Mugabe has done to his own country and his own people. And every now and then, there are news of starvations, importing food grains from other continent and so on. It would be wise to make use of the opportunities available within. Shouldn’t people of all colours work together to progress the cause of humanity?
    What has happened to Zimbabwe is a sad reality. We can’t really blame on unavailability of modern industrial farming technology as the cause of all these mess, can we? For most, the politicians are the cause of all these chaos. Its about time; let’s work hand in hand to end the hungers among us.

      If Govt was providing loans to black farmers and investing in agriculture education...marketing, science cropping, husbandry and also using some traditional methods...there will be a true game changer. Urbanization did not help Africa much as it cut off that tradition of land knowledge that was customary in passing knowledge down generations. That is changing now and more are realizing the true value of the land. And that knowledge is not a " white preserve or privilege "...

    Non of them should go back to Zimbabwe, Zambia and other African nations have proven their worth by bringing in refugees of all types and providing them with the tools they need to better themselves and the nation. This is an example of how things should be dealt with and no one should go back to Zimbabwe and turn their back on the nation that has treated them so well. Hopefully Zambia will allow those Indian,White and Somali farmers from SA to come too and further help their great nation.

      The White Farmers had access to more advanced farming technology (from the United States, Australia and Europe), as well as more efficient Western-style farming methodologies that would allow them to farm more efficiently.
      Local Zambians didn't have access to any of that. The only way local African farmers would have access to those new Western farming technologies and methods would be if the White Farmers taught the locals on how to use them.

    • @alexanderchristopher6237
      @alexanderchristopher6237 4 года назад

      That takes time. Time which can’t be done within a single planting and harvest season.
      The white people there seems to know the how to on managing large scale agriculture, which is the knowledge you need to feed an entire country and have surplus for emergency or trade. Have them work it out along with black workers, and eventually you’ll get a generation of farm workers and even farm managers who knows how to operate commercial agriculture. Some loans can help them develop new commercial farms for Zambia.
      I mean, that’s how most countries learned new technology. How do you think the Chinese went from making iPhones to building their own smartphones that are able to compete with Apple and Samsung on the market? You got a lot of people in the workforce that are involved in the manufacturing of the iPhone from the lowest level to the highest level. You don’t even need James Bond-esque corporate espionage (like what the US accused China) to learn how to make an iPhone.
