Happy New Year everyone! I hope your 2021 was a good as mine, my New Years resolutions so far are to enhance this channel and to focus on my studies so I can graduate college on time next winter. I hope everyone has enjoyed what I had to offer during 2021 and I hope to bring even more awesome content this year in 2022. Stay safe y’all! 😀👍🏻
This is gonna sound wierd, but I really like the open/close speed of the station doors @2:32 . My local station, if I were to time how long it takes to open the overhead door, I’d say probably 10-15s. By that time, the crews are all on board, got the engine started and have to wait for a few seconds before they can actually pull out of the station. If their doors opened and closed faster, then it would cut down the response times
@@surprisedgordon7786 And that's a good thing! In comparison, consider all the scorn--not just from firefighters but from the general public--for LAFD's Rosenbauer RTX because it *_doesn't_* look like an "ordinary fire truck", at least to American eyes. That said, the reason Pierce's Voltera does is because it *_IS_* : They took an existing chassis (the Enforcer, in this case), electrified the drivetrain and stuck a battery pack between the cab and pumphouse. The casual observer can't tell the difference, and even the knowledgeable one would have to look twice to notice. There's an common saying among crusty old jakes in the American fire service, "Don't let progress get in way of tradition." (It's an absurd and counterproductive notion, of course, but one that's unfortunately deeply entrenched.) Pierce understands that so they didn't try to reinvent the wheel; Rosenbauer--the home office in Austria, not their American subsidiary whose engineers and product planners advised against it--went the other way and took a (ahem) non-traditional route with the RTX. While it's unquestionably an impressive apparatus, it won't sell in the States because it doesn't look like a fire truck.

Riverside Truck 1 (tiller). Is that the first ever PUC tiller Pierce has ever built or was this a super custom order by the customer?
