- Hi everyone, I really like playing this song. Every time I play this song it comes out differently. It is played in double drop D tuning, DADGBD. I really like playing this because it feels so raw. I had been playing similar style for several days and my fingers were getting tired from this style.
Hill Country Blues was invented in 5 counties in North Mississippi in the hill country. It has a very percussive feel and will often stay in the same chord for a long time. I was inspired from listening to R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Mississippi Fred McDowell, the Black Keys, and Lottie Murrell, and others in the genre. I wish I could get this better.

You keep playing? You get better! You good enough already but you got fifty more years of pluckin. Don't stop now.
I still play! I try to play everyday. Thanks for your support.
Great tune man!
Cool stuff sir . Jimmy Page uses the DADGAD tuning , the DADGBD you demonstrated is a fine tuning as well , known as a Dobro tuning .
Jimmy Page is big influence for me.
Man, this is great. I bet this would sound good with some slide on my Jazzmaster. 🙌 About to jam along on a loop. 😂
Nice playing and sweet guitar!

Sounds great man!! Stunning. Hill Country! Please tell me the make of this maple Gibson?! J200? or something? Im more of a Martin guy who is really getting into the Gibson spread. (btw, Cam Kimbrough (Junior's grandson) has some great YT vids out there teaching Hill Country etc)
Just searched your vids and looks like: Gibson Emmylou Harris L200? Cool guitar.
Thank you! You are correct it is the Emmy Lou Harris guitar. I really like it. Thank you for the comment. Thanks for the video recommendation I’ll check it out and am working on some more Hill Country style sounds.
Is the guitar a j200? Sorry im not ignoring your playing man, its grooving down home
Hi, this is a Gibson Emmy Lou Harris model
Great - how can i learn this song.... tabs?
@@johansteenhuis6813 I don't have tabs, maybe one day. It's in double drop d tuning and uses the minor blues pentatonic scale. If you alternate a bass line with the two d strings and mess around with the scale on the bottom two strings it will sound cool.
@@GrampyDanGuitar thanks for your reaction
What model is that Gibson ?
That is an Emmy Lou Harris Gibson guitar. An L-200 I believe.
