Kung Fu is an American Western/drama/action series starring David Carradine. The series aired on ABC from October 1972, to April 1975 for a total of 63 episodes. Kung Fu was preceded by a full-length feature television pilot, an ABC Movie of the Week, which was broadcast in 1972.
Kung Fu was created by Ed Spielman, directed and produced by Jerry Thorpe, and developed by Herman Miller, who was also a writer for, and co-producer of, the series.
The series follows the adventures of a Shaolin monk, Kwai Chang Caine (虔官昌 Qián Guānchāng) (portrayed by David Carradine as an adult, Keith Carradine as a teenager and Radames Pera as a young boy) who travels through the American Old West armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in martial arts, as he seeks his half-brother, Danny Caine. - Развлечения
I never understood the wisdom contained in this show until I was in my 40s. This was an EPIC and timeless series
Yeah, and it's such an anomaly compared to the typical shoot-em-up Westerns.
Well said. I was 5 in 1972 but remember it very well. The wisdom was astonishing then and remains so now.
It stood a cut well above other shows on television, both then and now.
@@toddcharters5092 I Agree with you 100
Did you know it was originally intended for Bruce Lee to play the main part 🙏☯️ but Hollywood decided a westerner would have more appeal ( basically racist 😢 ).
Imagine if Bruce Lee had done all these fight scenes 😢😮😮💥😁💥🙏☯️.
Still fantastic and become my life's aim.
To wonder as a Wudan monk with my ; bowl 🍜, robe and Dizi.
The only mark I leave are foot prints and the occasional seed so others travelling "the way☯️🙏" may have some shade, food and find their way a little easier ☯️🙏 Amitofuo
Loved this show when I was a kid back in the 70’s. RIP to David Carradine. He was born to play this role.
William Doizer thought so. Asins in tv where taboo as heros. IT BELONGED TO BRUCE LEE.
Creo que pensaron en Bruce Lee, he leído..por las razones que fuera Bruce quedó decepcionado.
Bruce Lee! : the incentive
No… Bruce Lee was born to play this role. It was his idea.
@@joeyjohn9950 No it didnt belong to Lee. Remember Caine was half Chinese. Carradine aced it.
My absolute favorite show as a kid
Mine also.
This was one of the last shows I watched with my dad. Mum passed too, and so Cain's character resonates with me deeper than most.
Same here my friend
@@sidneymorris2254 sorry for your loss mate, glad we both got time watching a proper show with them. Hope you're well friend
Had to reply I remember dad coming home late and we watched this in his bed at night . Dad passed in 81 when I was 6 . One of the very few memories I have .
@@mikedeek sorry for your loss mate, I'm sure he was a good man if he took the time to bond with you over a show like Kung Fu
You are lucky dat you born at dat time, at least you enjoyed the beautiful and simple things we used to have at dat time, now we in 2023, but I prefer if I lived at dat era and wish if the time stopped there ❤❤
I used to watch this with my dad. Good times
Me too
Same here,,, I watched this with my dad,,, I miss him
@@muhammadhshafraz2565 I am sorry!!!
me too, I was born in 1982, they were good times for all 👍
I watched this all by myself. Good times.
Watched this show as a kid.... still inspires me today!
well they have a 2021 reboot 🙃🙃
Reboot ? Tell me more
Me too. Brilliant 👏
This definitely was the best. Will never forget this program.
@Tommy Trombone I agree
Season 2.. one of the greatest, atmospheric intros in tv history. Still holds up after 50 years..
I am really interested in this tv series...so pls can u tell where can we watch the full series of this ?
yes
The theme music popped into my head this afternoon, I couldn't imagine I remembered it after all of these years. Here it is.🙂
Steve Vai resurrected it somewhat in his song "For the Love of God".
You'll love Kitaro - Silk Road.
@@MrJetplanemusic I have always thought that, I'm so glad someone else can hear it too...
You cannot fail to be moved by the music, or touched by some of the philosophy.
A part of this show is with me, even today. This theme and the Hulk (70s outdo) are the two saddest themes from my youth, and yet to be matched.
Yes 🙌
Am with you there, on both shows . . .!
Yep! There's little doubt that the music moved "STEVE VAI", 🤣🤣
Incredible memories and feelings surge through me as I hear this theme . Absolutely loved the show .
Interesting, that, since both shows are effectively a remake of 'The Fugitive'.
Loved this show as a kid,and every so often that theme tune still pops into my head,i"m 58.Some tunes you never forget;Starsky& Hutch,Kojak,Cannon,Rockford Files, etc, etc
Voyage to the bottom of the sea and Randall & Hopkirk are a couple others that spring to mind. When TV was King.
@@miketravis6149 Yes,both great shows.
Barney Miller, Mission Impossible, WKRP, Baretta, Good Times, M*A*S*H, Underdog, Welcome Back Kotter, Hawaii 5-0, Taxi, The Rifle Man, The Munsters, Secret Agent Man, Cheers, The Twilight Zone, Hill Street Blues, Doctor Who, Sanford & Son, Johnny Quest, Green Acres, Monday Night Football, The Untouchables, Gilligan’s Island, Bonanza, The Jetsons, Love American Style, please, Jesus Christ, will SOMEBODY tell me how to get this music out of my head???
Kwai Chang Cain (David Carradine) was a good tv Kung Fu artist. R.I.P. Mr. Carradine.
If David Carradine didn't play in any other movies and series except this one , we will still remember him for this unique and special role in king fu ❤️❤️
I remember when I was child watching this series on tv with my dad, this series was my dad's favorite and watching it again I miss him who passed away 2 years ago at the age of 73 years😢
My Dad used to watch this show all the time when we were little, back in the 70's!
Me and my college dorm buddies would all gather around the TV to watch Kung Fu, it was our favorite show back in '72-'73.
No video recorder back then so miss it and it was gone, not like now with catch up and pay per view, Great times.
I was an Army brat back then, and all of us kids would watch the show religiously. There were also lots of GI's coming back from Korea, Japan, Thailand etc, and opening up dojos on base. We were all enrolled in all the classes we could go to. And of course, lots of RunRun Shaw and Bruce Lee movies on the weekends. We were like, what's football?
😊
transitioned from Batman, The Green Hornet, Dragnet, Adam 12, The FBI to this.
Those are all great shows too. The Late 60's and early 70's really had some good stuff.
This was a great show. The theme tune. The stories. The action sequences. The flashbacks.
Plenty of Flashback Scenes
Such a great and powerful show! Those times are missing this. I'm forever thankful to my father for making me discover this and raising me with those values. ❤🙏 I miss you everyday.
Yup.just listen to it makes me sad and the way he walks through that endless dunes
I wish this was available to stream without paying the prices they are asking
My grandma had this on her old TV ❤️ I’m 17 this year and still adore the old stuff that my grandpa and my grandma had when they were alive. Their house went silent after they passed away....we used to gather our family on Chinese New Year eve! Love my heritage as a half Chinese
I'm not crying, you're crying!
Oh, sorry.
RIP ,Your grandparents.
I too lost both my parents and a very dear loving grandmother. We have always watched together this TV show, even though I and my father had nothing in common, we sat to watch Kung Fu together as a family.
This was 1 of the BEST shows ever!!...
✌😎❤🙏👍👍
Loved watching this show when I was a kid; the theme music has embedded in my mind.
I watched that when I was 10 years old, I am now 43 and I am still watching it and learning !
I’m a 52 yr old Brit and I remember secretly making Chinese Death Stars in metalwork class like he throws in the opening credits. Early ‘80’s. All good fun. 😀😀
Wow , that has brought me back to 1976 and Mr Jermey Metalwork
There nowt wrong what mothering' Clutterbucks don't Barley Grommet (Book of Ecky Thoomp and the Seven Steptoria) 😀😀
My mom would get mad at me because I would try to rig up our kitchen knives and damage them. What does a 10 year old kid know. Lol.
In 1972 I was in the 4th grade and my bed time was 9PM, which is the time this show came on. My only hope of watching this show was to catch it in Summer reruns.
I was a little boy back then, and loved to watch it. Kung fu was one of the favorites tv series here in Brazil.
Oi, txau Brasil
De Portugal.
I loved it. I watched the whole the whole series when I was a teen.
For no reason at all the music came to my head yesterday morning when I woke up. Was ringing in my ear all day. Today I came looking for the intro to listen to it. Watched this series as a kid in the 70's with my Dad. He also loved this series. Would pay anything to have him back and watch an episode together like those young years.
Amaazing how your mind remembers every note.
The nostalgia this brings makes my heart hurt deeply... but in a good way ❤
Loved this show growing up in Townhill Swansea South WALES ..Thank you Bruce Lee for creating this iconic series..
Tv shows had such great music in those days. Miss it loads
yes it stirs up long lost emotions : )
Kung Fu was so great! I watched it often.
My step-dad used to watch this show every evening at 6:00 PM. Now he is deceased. It's sad how fast life goes by.
My dad watched it when he was a kid, then made us watch it when my brother and I were kids, amazing show.
A total classic opening and closing!
Wish my grandchildren had such inspirational shows to watch....I know they would resonate to the vibes put our there.
Hell no. He not even Asian
@@dickhardpicard That's called "acting". He acted the part of an Asian. He did it well, thanks to good writers and good direction. Let's forget the "political correctness" for once, shall we...even as an adult with my children, he made us as happy as Mr. Rodgers did.

RIP David Carradine. He came as he went.
This is One of The Greatest Shows I watched, When I was about 7 or 8 Years Young
In 1982, I was about 6 ....
And got severly ill with pnumonia.
In the hospital this was the he only show I liked to watch .
I would sleep most of the day. It was a highlight because I would watch it with my favorite aunt or one of my parents....
Edit. The show came out at night. Don't remember how late though
my 3 rowdy brothers and myself, always roughing and always fighting as brothers do, would immediately and suddenly become completely quiet as soon as the first notes of this 'song' would come on, signifying that we were lucky enough to watch yet another amazing and awesome episode of "Kung Fu", which was just about to come on in a few minutes! hahhahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, loved this song, still do, and always will :)
My dad & uncle were martial arts masters & we kids watched this show with them religiously back in the day!! Love & miss you.both terribly, Daddy & Uncle Carlos! RIHP 🙏 💘 👊 😍 ✝ 👼 🌈 ✌ 😇 👨 👪
My family would gather around watching this show back in the 80's.. wished I can go back in times.
Do you remember the time slot?
I remember this so well.... Damn, I am old as dirt
I know the feeling well buddy.
I cry when hear this music with the presentation, very good times. You could be really great lessons of life. I learned to love the Kung Fu & ancient chinese culture as Taoism with this brillant series that I discovered was a Bruce Lee's idea. Greetings from Brasil.
that's crazy
Of course, Bruce would be the one to Chinese people a one-dimensional view into their culture. Great show, but it created stereotypes which is why chinese action movies are scarce now because that's the only thing the movie industry wanna be known for
I loved this show when i was a kid, watched it with my lovely dad.
Best Wisdom Tv Show Ever!🌌🙏🌌
I ALWAYS LOVED the spiritual teachings/Philosophy in this classic show.
Awesome show! Every one taught a great lesson.
Yes. It is hard (in so many ways) to believe that it is nearly 50 years ago that I watched this and I would still watch it today given half a chance. What that says about me I dread to think but it had the ability to completely put me in another world for an hour or so. Not many (if any)programmes or films do that these days.
Yes feel the same way George!
@@davidmedeiros2856 Glad I am not in a world of my own - for once - David.

Watching this taught me many lessons about life ❤

I did the same(USAF Security Police & high school teacher).
Hello there
This is a classic woke up this morning thinking about this show haven't seen that intro in Year's. Remember being down my grandma house in with cousins in the late 80s in early 90s this show us to come on tv it was great to remember this brings back so many memories.
Marvelous watching this again after a half-century or so. Thank-you!
I remember watching this show in the 70s as a kid.
I didn't realize it then but this was a truly brilliant show. It bridged the gap between the dying western genre and current (late 60s/early 70s) martial arts genre. For the mainstream idiots in Hollywood they really beat the odds with this show ...
Well said.
Brings back childhood memories! Family movie night…
I used to hurry home to watch each episode. It was my mentor while I was at the start of my martial arts journey.
this brings nice memories
My brother and I loved Kung Fu when it came out. Great opening music.
I used watch this with my mom and dad great memories
Kung Fu was my favorite as well it still is
This music takes me back...and I wasn't even around "back then"!
1:23 - 1:44 I just now realized the teenage Caine is David Carradine's brother, Keith. Good actor in his own right. What a show that was when we were beginning to open up to the various peoples and their cultures in the Far East. Thanks for putting this up.
It was a real family affair when David had his dad John & his brothers Robert & Keith on set/guest star with him.
Ah the 70’s watching with my dad, in our old home...Miss you Dad😓
@@gr_br that’s a great point.... never thought that of it that way👍👍
Brilliant theme music Kung Fu Was a great show indeed!😀🥋🇨🇳
the producer said at the interview david was clear eyed and very personable . it was the last time I saw him strait , he was always on something
The staple diet of every kid back in the 80's was watching this and trying to imitate the opening titles. Great series and it's a shame that Bruce Lee never got to star on this on screen...it was his idea after all. I think I got my love of walking from these end credits...
all my memories and my childhood in this beautiful music.
!Exactly
Greatest show ever produced for television.
it was my favorite tv serial in 1975
LOL Here's another great show I was hooked on in my good old high-school days.
Obrigado
David Carradine. Você deixou sua marca na história de gerações.
what a sound .... music that is very heart-wrenching but also very attached to the memory and makes us feel like we are in there
There are a couple versions of this tv theme. The latter one has harpsichord in it (slightly different arrangement). I love both.
Master Po and Master Kan taught me everything I know!
Same :D
You and me both.
Ditto, except partial derivative equations.
One of my favorite all time shows, I so loved this show and another favorite of mine that was so well done was combat! With Vic Morrow, nothing today can touch these shows, like Plato said, who's teaching the children and what are they teaching them?
Muito obrigado, Senhor David Carradine.
Você estará para sempre marcado no coração de seus fãs.
Descanse em paz. #RIP
QUELLE BELLE SERIE!!😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
To the creator of this show many thanks to you master Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee was the creator of Warrior (Ah Sahm), another show. At this point, even Wikipedia knows it.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_Fu_(1972_TV_series)
Bruce Lee did not create the Kung Fu television series. Kung Fu was created by Ed Spielman in 1966 in New York City. Bruce Lee's idea for a TV show was called The Warrior, but it was a totally different story that was set in San Francisco in the late 1800s.
I hadn't realised it was his younger brother in the intro :-)
Keith Carradine.
No . not his brother. That is Radames Peira .
Or you mean young Caine . Not child Caine .
I watched all the series.❤
I wached the re-runs of these in the 80s. I'm born in 74. I loved them relly much. ❤

The people in our family are always affected by music. I just remember my mom telling me that when she was a little girl she would have to run out of the room when my uncles, her big brothers, would turn the TV on when this show began, because the music was just too much for her, it just made her sob. She couldn't look even at David Carradine for years!

I used to attend Judo classes at this time and would take a younger friend called Robert Cox. I used to laughingly refer to him as 'Kwai Chang Cox', lol, until he started calling me Bruce Flea! Happy memories.
Kung Fu, is the essence of the existence to everyone who seriously, intend to seek enlightenment and self knowledge!
David's relaxed defense style against weapons and keeping his cool in a pinch is what I really miss. Smoke a fatty and you can really believe in self defense like a human being and attracting the right kind of woman without even being aware of it. Red Pill chill.
I used to watch this when. I was young.
Watched this show as a kid. Just had an ephinay today that. My life and how I have lived was definately impacted by it.
I learnt shaolin healing techniques as a young adult, I have compassion and empathy for everyone I meet. I love chinese art. I'm quiet but strong.
A morning of reflection. I wish there were programs like it for young people today. My mind boggles when I think how their lives will be impacted by what they are watching.
Classic example Married at first sight! 🥺
The series was mostly about a shaolin traveled from eastern to western, realism in perfection :)
