Induction stoves are a little more expensive today but not all of them are absurd. LG has one for 1400. They also use less electricity so will save in the long run. There are trade offs to induction but it’s worth looking at when you need a new stove.
For everyone going on about how hot it must be, it's an induction cooktop so it's not the actual cooktop getting hot at all - it does some funky magnet shit at the pot/pan, directly making it hot (hence "induction" - it induces heat)
Eh close but you're missing a few steps. Remember that electric and magnetic fields exist at right angles to one another. So when you pass a current through the stove base it creates a magnetic field, which couples to the pot/pan, which creates an electric field and eddy currents in it, which due to the resistance of the metal get dissipated as heat. Far more efficient to heat the container essentially from the inside out than the outside in. When I redo my kitchen next year I'm seriously thinking about installing one.

@@patrickhector Yeah but you can get kettles that use the same system to quickly heat the exact amount of water you want to the exact heat that you want. Mine takes about 3 seconds to heat then it just pours the exact amount of water you need so you don't waste electricity boiling extra water, and you can specify if you want it 100C or anything down to 40C if you don't need it that hot (a perfect coffee needs 92C for instance).

Real talk, I boil water in the electric kettle and then pour it into the pot on the stove for making pasta in. And then if it needs more water I just refill and boil another kettle. It's SO MUCH faster.
Induction stoves are also great bc they don't heat up the surrounding air and the kitchen. Waaaayyy easier to cook over one in the summer, and they're more energy efficient, too.
I love my induction stove! I’ve only got an entry level one that cost $400 but it will boil that quantity of water from tap cold nearly as fast as in the video. I love the fact that only the pot heats up and the stove itself stays cool to touch. I love how fast pots and pans reach temperature. I love the instant temperature control and I especially love that I haven’t melted or burned a cutting board or tea towel since getting it.
I also have an induction stove and I'm not rich AT ALL . They can come quite affordable, even the same price as regular hot stoves. It's not that fancy really. You do need induction compatible pots and pans though... I would say that was a little stressful 😂 gave old pots away

Here’s a tip: if the bottom of your pot is uneven in anyway, it will slow down the boiling time. You want to maximize surface to surface contact to ensure good heat transfer.

I waited for a sale and got the standard size Frigidaire Gallery (larger 36”) with controls on the back instead of the front for under $1,000 from Lowe’s like a year ago. The oven also has air fry mode. Induction is light years safer than anything else, particularly if you have young children. Burners auto shutoff when you take a pot off for more than 10 seconds, and the stovetop is almost immediately cool to the touch. A cast iron pan can be sizzling hot in 10 seconds for searing, though I usually turn it on low a couple minutes first to heat it slower. You need all metal bottom pans or the stove literally cannot transfer the magnetic field to the pan, but it helped us finally discard all our nonstick pans.

A lot of induction cookers have this function. Just be preparared to suck back like 3,5kW while using it. Very high, short burst energy demand. Using a lid gets it there faster too. I can boil a couple litres in a kettle in less than a minute.
I watched this the other day and then went to Lowe's outlet and bought one. There are multiple versions with the range or just a cooktop. We got the 8 tray deep oven and cooktop for $1000. I am so stoked for it to be delivered. It has a steam bake and clean functions for the oven.❤

The problem is that most pans are not made to withstand that fast of a temperature change. The metal will warp and make the pan essentially useless on flat surface stoves after a few times doing this.
Ooooo yesss we use some little induction hobs at my workplace, so useful, benefits of eletric, with the speed and control of gas. I really like using these.
Basically, it creates a short circuit in the pan, which heats up. The pot or pan gets hot, not the stove top itself. The stove top can be touched pretty quick after removing the hot pan. And if you never put a pan on it, it never gets hot.
I knew it was an induction the moment she turned it on, the screeching sound may not be as harsh on my ears as it was when I was in highschool(we had a really good culinary arts program) but it's unmistakable.
They also make instant hot water dispensers. Its basically a tank that goes under your sink and you install an extra faucet for it and you basically have instant boiling water whenever you want. Im a plumber ive installed them many times

Induction ranges uses a magnetic coil that interacts with the metallic pot making it heat up. Technically, the water isn't actually at 212F yet, it is just that the water closest to the pan's surface has been agitated by the induction wave going through the pan. It will still take a bit more to get a full rolling boil. Pretty cool though

If you had the lid on it would’ve come up to boiling temperature even faster. I have an induction cooktop and I absolutely love it. The eyes don’t get as hot as a regular cooktop so it’s so much easier to clean too.
The stark reality is, everything you're doing in the kitchen requires time, and much of it can be done simultaneously. There is basically never going to be a time when you absolutely need your water to boil in 30 seconds and will have nothing to do until it does. If it takes three or five minutes, you can be using that time to prep other ingredients for the meal, or do some cleaning or whatever else. This solves a problem that nobody has.
Not to mention the only way you are getting water to boil that fast is either starting with 200+ degree water, or an amount of electricity that would melt the pan. To paraphrase @technologyconnections water is water and energy is energy. It's always going to take the same amount of energy to heat water. This gets more heat into the water than a traditional electric range, but it isn't that much more.
You also need to know you can’t just do this with any pot or pan on an induction stove. You need a special pan and pot that works with the induction process.
That is just normal for any induction stove. You don’t need a ridiculously expensive one. They work by turning the pan into a heating element like you would find in a kettle. Ever since I switched from gas it has been incredible
Induction is amazing. Jiggling atoms in your cookware to create heat. The only thing is you need induction capable cookware. Some pots and pans aren’t compatible.

That is just normal for any induction stove. You don’t need a ridiculously expensive one. They work by turning the pan into a heating element like you would find in a kettle. Ever since I switched from gas it has been incredible

Induction is amazing. Jiggling atoms in your cookware to create heat. The only thing is you need induction capable cookware. Some pots and pans aren’t compatible.
