    A question, please. If you start with 1 cup of milk and then add baking soda, etc to make it a buttermilk substitute, can you simply begin with 1 cup of real buttermilk? Thank you.

      Yes that would work perfect. The original Malva recipe used buttermilk. Please let me know how the recipe worked for you.
