Would probably switch out the pickup and tuning pegs thought maybe even the bridge. but at the price these guitars seem prefect to modding out to your liking
The brass wrap around bridge is a unique design and fully adjustable. You aren't going to find a bridge that's an upgrade. That's the point of these bridges. They are tonally superior to what else is out there. Why would you swap it? Same with the billet brass tuning keys. They're designed for tonal superiority
They seem like great guitars for the price. Some people are picking them apart. What do ya expect for $200? People have serious issues with Gibsons priced over 10 times these guitars! As far as GFS, I've made a couple orders from them and I'm more that satisfied with their guality and service. Check out their electric strings...less than $3.00 a pack and seem better than strings I've bought at the music stores for over twice that price! I was amazed!
versnellingspookie because people don’t know how. When you change the strings you take the bridge off than feed the strings in put it back on wrap it, peg it done. I do my les Paul this way
@@RonaldLeggettJr Forget gigging with it. Break one string and you have to take the bridge off to replace it. Had mine routed to allow easy string change. I heard they corrected this problem on later examples.
Man... 12" radius, 6105 frets, no finish, brass bridge and hardware, bolt-on neck, no finish... Even down to the pickup output this thing is my ideal. I just wonder how it compares to an AL-2000.
Hopefully GFS is going to pack well these new guitars for shipping... I got one strat from them that was all scratched because they put it in the box without even a plastic bag... Thanks Jay...
I picked up an SL59 and while it's brighter than a Jr it's not nearly as bright as you may think. If anything it sounds closer to a Tele than it does a Gibson.
Im going to have to get one of these! I have been using they’re pickups for years (some are good and others like the Dream 90 are awesome!). Prices are right and the product quality is always top notch. The Xaviere stuff can be really good if you have a little set up know how so I would imagine these will be sweet!
@@QS-si3cq I made this comment 7 years ago. I do appreciate the grammar lesson 7 years later and being I love a good trolling I fixed it. They’re you go.
Hate to say it but most of the parts I bought from GFS turned up as junk, none of the switches I bought worked more than 6 months, tele les paul and strat, all failed. The teisco trem they used to sell was junk as well and the guitar I tried(NON Slick strat)had poor action, weighed allot and felt cheap. That said the pickups I bought were *ok* and the Slick Tele a buddy bought is a nice guitar,I was quite surprised by the Slick model.I'm a fan of the thin/non glossy finishes. My person verdict-GFS is hit or miss, beware of the switches they sell.
Anthony Brown they are still not up and it's beginning of may. I am dying to get my hands on the double cutaway one.. Comin chinese workers, get these out the door to guitarfetish :-)
+Carter Schaefer I bought their P Bass and a set of Alnico IIs for my Fender Am strat. Vintage tone. Reliable. The PBs frets are a little edgy...but no worse than a Mex Fender and the tone is vintage. I'm impressed...I'd buy the LP clone if it had a tone pot.
I bought the Tele, and it has an awesome sound, but did need some setup. Didn't need a fret level though, so just factor in an extra $50 for a setup and you have yourself a nice guitar.
+Storm X Judging by pictures, there is more than enough room to modify the guitar's electronics. Shouldn't be worse than using a drill, some sandpaper to smooth it out, and finally watch a couple RUclips videos on how to wire a 1vol1tone guitar. Could probably upgrade the pots if they aren't to your liking as well
I have to laugh when jay emphasizes the really "light weight, dry wood" I bought one of the double cuts and it is far and away the HEAVIEST guitar I own, and I own a lot of guitars. Other than the weight, its exactly what you'd expect at the 200$ price point.
if they change they headstock logo they will sell more ........that's simple horrible !! Very amateurish, please check what the other competitors show :)
Seriously, if I bought one of these, the first thing I'd do is sand off that logo and maybe refinish the "relic" body to something that actually looks good.
If I want a distressed guitar I'll go to a pawn shop. When I buy a new guitar I want it to look like a new guitar. I'll distress it myself over the years.
216trixie look at it like destressing just like his guitar straps...yes normally relicing is too poser but, Earl's stuff allows my mind to like it. He's old and made us some affordable coolness ....I'm in!
They say they put on very thin lacquer, could be easily worn down that way with enough use. Or easiy stripped to do custom paintjobs! I think it works well
That white single p90 guitar is just simply amazing.
I purchased my SL54T a few years ago , and I love everything about it , great great tone !
You're right. A beautiful glossy finish kills tone.
Great pricing! Gibson and Fender take note.
strandwolf ✍🏼
Awesome line. I'll be checking them out.
I'm definitely getting one of those 59s

Awesome Jay. Just my kinda guitar - simply and vibey and different.
Just found my next electric.
great business plan and awesome work good job
I love that man. Thank you for making things that I can afford!

Because most of these RUclips viewers are morons who know little to nothing about what makes an instrument a tone machine.
Jay, any of your guitar lines built in the U.S.?
the double cutaway single p-90 one is awesome. and it's 3/4 scale and has a wrap around bridge for only $200? sign me up
I heard that the wraparound bridge makes it hard to change strings, because the bridge is sunken into the body :/

2:43 uhh whats going on with that string spacing
I think it's just the angle the camera is at.
Looks cool and they seem to sound cool...but I've heard the fret work is pretty sketchy, mostly the aggravating fret sprout.
+krelbar You've got to expect that at a $200 price point. Still looks like a lot of guitar for the money. Love that bridge piece.

Sound pretty damn good!
These guitars look way cool!
great that they are going to be available in europe too....
Guitarfetish ships to europe for 100 dollars :(
and if the guitar has a bad problem, you're fucked
I question a little the use of ash+p90+bolt on neck+wraparound bridge.
this thing must be bright af

Jay, it's you!
Where can we buy these?
He said that if your in the US they should be on guitarfetish.com in May or for everyware esle at slickguitars.com
Anthony Brown
they are still not up and it's beginning of may. I am dying to get my hands on the double cutaway one.. Comin chinese workers, get these out the door to guitarfetish :-)
Jay seems like a great guy...
Please play some more guitar so I can hear it. What I did hear sounds good. Thanks, you guys rock.
Best bang for the buck no doubt about it.
how much????
are these worth it? or would it be an extra 200$ for a set up?

hmmm, on the site they raised the prices :/
Was just going to say that. Still pretty cheaply priced... Just wondering if the are a deal or junk.
So these are just sitting there, waiting for termites.
Slick!!!!!!!!!!

Little sounds no ?
Tone pot, please.
Forget the relic shit. I can relic it myself.
Other than that, GFS rules. And Joe Gore is the man.
if they change they headstock logo they will sell more ........that's simple horrible !! Very amateurish, please check what the other competitors show :)
Javier Sergio sand it off👍🏼
you are right, mine was just a constructive criticism
Seriously, if I bought one of these, the first thing I'd do is sand off that logo and maybe refinish the "relic" body to something that actually looks good.
That costs money too lol
Can you say🗣️🗣️🗣️ CHINA!
Finally a guitar named after my nickname lol... maybe they will give me a sponsorship

Has anyone else noticed that Jay's left hand is all jacked up?
Those headstocks are just... less than cool
I'm interested! But.. the fake aging is to wannabe for me.
Right. and he says it's not relicing. Just less finish. lolol I hate relicing. For posers.
216trixie look at it like destressing just like his guitar straps...yes normally relicing is too poser but, Earl's stuff allows my mind to like it. He's old and made us some affordable coolness ....I'm in!
Shame it's $130 shipping to Europe.... no thanks.
NICE 200 euros!
Figure that's a wig?
pefect guitars, but bad headstock and logo design. Still gonna buy a tele;)
Cut the "distressed" bullshit look and I'm sure Slick would sell a lot more guitars.
They say they put on very thin lacquer, could be easily worn down that way with enough use. Or easiy stripped to do custom paintjobs! I think it works well
Sounds bloody horrible.
